So few bugs that bother me that are not really my fault but …. still bugs me.

Feedburner always shows 7 comments on a post and never more. Its never accurate. Dunno why =(

If you are on a Mac and using Firefox there is a weird bug where if you view a post with like 300 comments (good thing there is only like 10) it will crash Firefox. This only happens on the MacOSX with Firefox and not the windows version. It also looks like its a javascript thing with brians threaded comments plugin.

I am looking forward to the wordpress 2.5 release and plan on changing up the comments a little bit to use gravatars (built into 2.5)

BTW happy easter!

  1. I always get annoyed when i start to read the comments, then the bottom of the page loads a second later and scrolls me down to the bottom, when there is a lot of comments it gets annoying. Windows/Firefox

  2. Bugs in a blog are always preferable to bugs in a blogger.
Hope your Easter was a real feaster!
“Feaster?! I don’t even know ‘er”. OK but seriously, if you want to create your very own Easter sale you can do it within a few minutes by clicking on my name agove.

  3. Wow! I made the first comment. It’s a privelage to be number one on the Shoemoney blog! (Even if just in the comment responses…:) ). Happy Easter indeed!

  4. The feedburner comments are cached (at who knows what intervals) so they’re almost never accurate. Not sure why 7 is the cap tho.

  5. these bugs are annoying. i have a few small ones on my blogs too. its like this small piece of corn between my teeth that i just can’t get rid of.

happy easter by the way ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. This is not the first time Feedburner reflects the wrong info. The last time it was subscribers count…

  7. I heard a rumor about Apple and Firefox, they supposedly are bugging Firefox to force to their users to use Safari. I don’t believe that but still being a possibility, I use linux and I haven’t that problem.

  8. Hey! Happy Easter!
While you are at it, I would love to be able to read your blog on my blackberry.

  9. I can’t get my related post plugin to work, but it great to see that even the best blogs have bugs

  10. I’ve noticed that RSS comment thing, but just figured that’s the way you wanted it.

  11. Wow – speaking of weird bugs! Shortly after commenting I noticed that my comments were the first and only ones appearing at the time. A few hours later, John and Ryan’s comments appear retroactively to be listed before mine. John and Ryan I hope your nose isn’t bleeding like the Irishman and Radio Operator on the freighter that’s heading for the Lost island. If it is, be careful and please can you tell Kate that I’ll meet her at the airport when she returns (but don’t let Sawyer hear you saying that). Cheers.

  12. Good lookin’ out Mr. Shoe! I haven’t exactly experienced this yet, but tend to freak out when Firefox crashes. Happy Easter!

  13. One of my blogs has this bug that makes it impossible to go into the comment moderation page. I had to install a new comment system (intense debate) to be able to moderate any further comments. The 50+comments that already existed were forever lost.

  14. I also can’t wait for this WP 2.5, but I may hold back on it until the plugins I use receives an update.

  15. Yeah, i’ve noticed that whole 7 comments on each post thing in feedburner. Weird…

  16. I was sick this easter ๐Ÿ™

It was my birthday too. Just crawled out of bed to check out the interweb. Been neglecting my blog as a result too. Affected traffic ๐Ÿ™

  17. Every site has bugs, so don’t worry about it. Many scripts aren’t intended to have this much traffic and recieve so many comments. Happy Easter!

  18. happy easter schoe,

feedburner has been a big issues about number of readers which is not very accurate

  19. I’ve never noticed this problem with Mac OS and Firefox. Happy Easter back at you Shoe.

  20. Yeah I am trying out the wp2.5 on my blog .. .It is pretty smooth. Easter turned out to be my nap day … Same to you jeremy

  22. Yeah, this bug probably force me to feel angry if i would use Mac.
But no, stable work and nothing else.

  23. I was disappointed in brian’s threaded comments myself. I haven’t had that problem (since I never get to 300 comments) but I installed it at the same time as a plugin that lets people edit their own comments and i’m not seeing any threading at all.

  24. I know, same here.. i Can’t wait for 2.5. I’ve been playing around with the new admin and it looks nice!

  25. It’ll be great to see all the new features that will be implemented in 2.5 and I’m looking forward to it as well.

I’m not lucky enough to get 300 comments on my blog so no one will have that crashing problem problem on mine. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  26. Weird bugs in your blog? Like, do you mean your readers ? I am one of the weirdest, to be sure. Thanks for this post and this great resource Jeremy. I have quickly become a fan. Just another question – a bit of a “derrrr” question. Your cheque, like, I cant find your adsense adds in this blog? Have I missed something – would not be the first time. Thanks.

  27. just when you think you have it sorted, bugs appear ! Test test test, the best advice any1 good give !

  28. How do find out about bugs like this. Do people email you and tell you about them or do you manually have to test for them and with differnet computers because that must take ages?

  29. I’m using a Mac with Firefox and I’ve had certain posts that I try to load and it just freezes up Firefox and I have to restart.
