Joost de Valk pinged me this morning about a new plugin he wrote called blog metrics. I really like it. It gives you some great stats about your site.

Looking at these stats you can see Rebecca Kelley and Neal Patel both out comment bait me !

I will let it speak for itself: (click on images for full image)

  1. Wow. Dillsmack outranks you too

I can’t believe you have a 31 comments-per-post average. Then again, it’s a weighted average taking into account all the early posts that probably had much fewer comments.

Would be interesting if Joost de Valk adds a median score.

  2. Very inspiring post. I love how shoemoney has like an insane amount of trackbacks. People love to write about him. πŸ™‚

  3. Would be interesting…in a couple of months when coming back to these stats and seeing the updated version. I’m sure Dillsmack won’t outrank him then πŸ˜‰

  4. Yes, they may write to our comment you, but then you get one in like the “Who should I Vote For” yesterday that gets 185 comments in less than 24 hours. That might bring up your total for the month.

  5. Any chance of getting some traffic data in there too? Like most loaded pages, funnel paths etc.

  6. Exactly – pure comment bait!
The reason I read this blog is to pick up great marketing ideas… I thought this was a great one.

  7. Statistics, Statistics and more statistics!! I hate stats… but loved this one πŸ˜‰

  8. I can see that being handy … ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SLACKERS! πŸ˜› I’ll write that one down and try it in the near future.

  9. […] Al just installed Blog Metrics here on SMM which is pretty cool if you have multiple authors on your blog, it shows that I waffle more and Al gets more comments [found via Shoemoney] […]

  10. Damn hundreds of thousands words in comments ! πŸ˜€ Thats a lot, btw its kkinda cool plugin i have to check it out.

  11. Awesome. I’ve been lookin’ for some must have wordpress plugins. This definitely fits the bill.

  12. Wicked plug in. Will try it out. I like the word count. Cab keep track if certain articles actually pay off with more text.

  13. Really cool plugin, uploaded and found people almost write more in my comments than I do myself!

  14. Think this will be a definate plug in to use when i get rid of my temporary blog and have something a bit better set up.

Just another set of stats to get obsessed about.
