How did I miss this SEO contest? Its under this companies “Google Events” and has a huge sponsored by Google logo. Does anyone know if this was legit?
BTW I found this because someone pinged me about the seo contest page on wikipedia where it is listed as
Google Event Shaastra This Google event was a National level SEO Competetion conducted as a part of Shaastra 2006 Conducted by IIT Madras . It involved staying on Top on Google’s search results for a period of one and half month for all pairs of keywords ” shaastra thamesportal equivocate durbatuluk ” and the results were evaluated on a weekly basis and averaged finally .
Now of course any idiot can spam wikipedia but this page has been pretty locked down…. Anyway it got my attention =P
Cheer up. There are more SEO contests these days than SEO marketers anyway
SEO contest sponsored by google… interesting.. FREE research for google.
I’m not so sure that is legit. It seems strange that there are not any links to any google blogs mentioning it.
I think they are saying sponsored by Google only because they are using their search engine to decide upon the winner. What’s the prize for winning anyways? I seem to have missed it.
Google Bangalore is run by a Madras IIT almnus so i guess this maybe legit!…
BTB IIT’s are one amoung the top technology universities in the world (infact its tougher to get into a IIT than to Stanford or Harvard).
No kidding, someone needs to come up with something more creative.
Seems like SEO contests are happening everyday now… before we know it there will the SEOL (SEO League)
SEOL, now that is a good idea. I’ll go in on that venture with you.
Seriously, SELO sounds like a good idea. I keep thinking about it. If you don’t get on that idea, I will. 🙂
I don’t think Wikipedia has any weight for SEO anymore.
WIKI extenral links/resources = NoFollow 🙁
Is this the first time google sponsor any event?
Wait, Google is in India?
Anyway, I’m sure you would have won had you known about it.
Man if you want to run with it go for it 🙂 jsut give me 50% of the profits 😉 *L*
Google has really been trying to push for success over seas in the last year
