if you just want to download the mp3 and not listen to me talk about it here is the link
I was pretty nervous for this show. While he is young i can’t think of a bigger up and coming name then Matt Mullenweg to have as a guest on my show. I have seen him in every tech related website and magazine imaginable. I have had this booked for some months now and I was really glad Matt found some time to come on the show. Also Greg Hartnett had asked if he could co-host the show. He is a huge WordPress fan and also has followed Matt’s career. It might sound weird to have a guest on a show about making money on the internet who really has not specialized in that himself but I thought Matt had tons of great advice to anyone looking to get started or going forward on the net.
First thing that came up was wordcamp. This is the wordpress conference that took place in San Fransisco last summer. I did not have a chance to attend this event but Greg did and they had a few words about it.
Then we got into the readers questions. Matt addressed everything from how he got started to his views on splogs/widgets(mybloglog specifically)/Akismet/wordpress.com/ his drive/AdBrite/ETC… we covered it alot.
I really enjoyed Matt’s take on how he deals with success and the criticism that comes with it. Greg also brought up a great point that he is only 22 yet deals with it super well.
Matt also reveals his drive to create Akismet (spam prevention) stems from his mistake in allowing someone to publish some quesitonable mfa content with AdSense on wordpress.org in April of 2005. I had remembered the content and the controversy but I thought it was pretty cool that that was what spured him to create one of the best spam prevention systems currently in place – Akismet.
Matt also talks about the future of WordPress and his take on the MyBlogLog aquisition by Yahoo.
Thanks Matt for coming on the show!
Awesome show shoemoney I am going to miss your shows you always have the best guests
Hey Shoe – Thanks for putting together another great show. I think Net Income and Domain Masters are the best offerings on Webmaster Radio. Enjoy your hiatus…we look forward to your triumphant return!
Another great show by the shoe!
Very inspiring to see a 22 year old become so successful.
awesome show!
Oh great stuff – downloading now.
I was hoping the wordpress.org debacle would come up, I’m interested to hear Matts take on that situation.
Hey, I haven’t listened to the podcast yet, but I just noticed that if you rearrange the letters in “askimet” it spells “mistake.” Interesting.

My favorite show yet!
Jeremy, as a first time listener — you were interviewing my boss 😉 — and someone that has to deal with spammers that call themselves SEO, I was leery. You are a fantastic speaker offering a grounded, smart service! I will listen again.
Really loved this show, and I have deep respect for Matt Mullenweg. Thanks for the great time

[…] I love interviewing non SEO, but probably some of the most influential people about no-follow. Without very influential people the whole no follow movement would never work. So I shot a email to Matt Mullenweg, the head of WordPress which was the first time I had ever really seen the no-follow tag being used, some questions. Matt also came on my radio show last year for a full hour which you can listen to here if you want. […]
