My Intarwebnet friend Shawn Hogan from digitalpoint.com has released his Geo Visitors tool a while back and I just got around to implementing it here on shoemoney.com. Notice the little IP Address Location up in the right hand corner? If you click on it you can see all the visitors and there locations in the world that have visited shoemoney.com in the last 24 hours. Pretty leety if I say so myself.

For those of you in Rio Linda Shawn Hogan was the first to come out with the keword tracking tool then a few years ago he dropped a HUGE BOMB on the search engine world with his Ad Network which still has search engine engineers chasing there tails. If that isn’t enough he also owns the forums at http://forums.digitalpoint.com which have grown at an alarming rate. Looking at the current Alexa rank of Digitalpoint VS the LEGANDARY ALL MIGHTY WEBMASTERWORLD you can see digitalpoint has clearly taken the lead in traffic.

Of course if you would bring any of this monster success up with Shawn he would act suprized and downplay it… thats the kind of class cat he is.

Here is to you Shawn (hulk) Hogan!

  1. Digitalpoint is a lot more global and open minded. Topics are based on the interests of the members. There are not many limits since people are able to talk about things that interest them without being worried that someone may censor them. Shawn just sits back and makes sure the big picture is ok. If there is one thing that I hate, it’s people nitpicking. That is not something that’s going on at DP. It’s amazing how many people are shooting themselves in the foot by being egotistical. Lessez faire is the way to go 😎

  2. I am relatively new to the webmaster game but I have tried most of the more popular webmaster forums and I always find myself coming back to DP. Great people all around.

  3. I can downplay “it” because everyone knows how awesome I am already. Hahahahaha… (that’s a joke BTW)

Also, not entirely fair to pass judgment between digitalpoint.com and webmasterworld.com since they are currently (voluntarily) out of the Google index and missing out on a lot of traffic because of it. Whenever they put themselves back in, I’m sure their Alexa will go right back up (down??). 🙂

  4. Damn .. that’s hot! I’m going to have to stick that little gem on all of my community sites. Shawn rocks!

  5. I’ve learned a great deal over the past year as a member of Digital Point and I’m glad to read that the site is doing so well.

I am curious about one thing: why the sudden & huge dip in traffic over @ webmasterworld? What did they do to scare off visitors? Any insights?

  6. The amount of value that DP brought to is amazing! Since signing up months back I have learned so much from the site it is amazing!
    Congradulations Shawn!

  7. The moderation is very heavy handed, this results in a complete halt to many interesting and worthwhile threads. Good helpful threads on wmw are few.

Members with real professional knowledge are booted in favour of a ‘clan’ belonging, where favours are done, and those who backscratched are accepted over real experts. They dislike ‘matter of fact’ posts incase it stops threads being generated thus their number of pages getting ranked decreases.

Pretty simple to work out really.
