Merry Christmas To MEEEEEE!! – From Intel

by Jeremy Schoemaker on December 24, 2008 · 238 comments

Wow… I am speechless! After making a post a couple weeks ago about what a huge fan of Intel I am, I was contacted by someone at Intel and asked for my address. I thought maybe they would send me a sticker for my laptop or something.  Well they sent me something all right!

Yesterday when I got home my wife said we had 3 boxes from Intel. Now, the ShoeMoney household gets a lot of shipments, but three boxes from Intel…I was thinking, “that’s a lot of t-shirts!”  I booked home to see what was up and …. there it was… a bad ass desktop and 2 monitors and a note that said “Love your Blog ShoeMoney! – Your Friends At Intel.”

Here are the specs on this MONSTER system:

Tower:

Intel® Core™ i7 Extreme Edition 965 Nehalem 3.2GHz Quad Core CPU
6GB RAM
300GB system drive, 2 TB on-board RAID 0 storage array
Firewire, USB, eSata & Gigabit Ethernet ports
Blu-Ray RW Drive + BD ROM-DVD/CD R/W Drive
Nvidia 9800GX2 graphics card.

Monitors:

2 X Samsung SyncMaster T245 – 24″

As if the hardward wasn’t enough, for Software they included:

Adobe CS3.3 Production Premium Suite
Microsoft Windows Vista 64bit OS

I mean, I got a FANTASY hardware package PLUS software?!

This computer is no joke.  The case was really awesome.  PC’s have come a long way since I switched over to macs.

I really like the case.  Its not like the cheap Plexiglas most cases have.

VERY COOL of intel to include this “geek kit”.  Has about every cable and adapter that you could ever need.

I had never used Samsung monitors before but these are frickin sweeeeet!  Super hi res and a nice, classy, glossy finish on them.

One of the first things I did was install a copy of Quake 4 I had laying around and proceeded to demolish all comers on the interweb.  Quad rockets 4tw!

This system TOTALLY ROCKS MY SOCKS.  Photoshop and Flash in the Adobe Suite was SO FLUID.  Simply amazing!

Thank you so much Intel!  I look forward to playing around with it more in the next couple weeks!

In my humble opinion that if a man who admires Scarface/Tony Montana, and has his picture on the wall of his office may say allot about his business ethics. Now I know it impresses you young dumb full of cum young hormone boiling bucks but I think it speaks volumes of what type of business man we have here. In an era of total corruption capitalism gone wild I would recommend removing that picture next time you do a promo for a high end corporations products.

Oh man, that is a really sweet surprise Christmas gift. I would be telling everyone I knew what a great company Intel was!

A lot of South African bloggers seem to have AMD processor powered machines and they’ll blog and whine about some problem they’re having with getting some game to work, and I’m like, AMD, that’s your problem right there.

I think I bought AMD once in my life – a 486 machine, and never again. Intel offers far superior processor technology. I’m on an Intel Celeron 440 at the moment, and it’s great. Wish I could afford the cutting edge processors but our currency took a bit of a knock this year against the dollar, so I’ll have to wait and see when I can upgrade.

i heard the same things about amd, but my laptop has an AMD and I have had no problems at all.

P.S. LOVE the Tony Montana poster.

Seriously though, Intel makes great products and they just gave me an idea for a killer machine when I get back on my feet.
