Ya… I am a Apple guy but I have always been a HUGE fan of Intel. Through the years I have always been a HUGE advocate of Intel and its all we use to power our servers.
And now Intel powers my mac!
Don’t thing I am a big Intel fan?
Check out this thing I had framed in my basement. Its every chip Intel made from the first all the way to the Pentium Pro. I bought most of them off of eBay throughout the years then had a local crafts place put them all nice and in a frame:
Anyway Intel launched the new i7 chip last week and it looks totally badass. Its a Quad Core PLUS hyper threading.
Intel started a new site called Digital Dragrace where they are having graphics and multimedia experts create some pretty badass animations and then judge them. The site is pretty sweet these guys create some AMAZING stuff in a short amount of time.

Anyway I have seen them on facebook and other places around the web. Pretty cool.
Also it gives me a chance to show off my nerd art =P

I tried to win one of these bad ass chips on that Com.puter.tv event, but boy did that turn out horrible.

Not being a hardware nerd, I often wondered how effective high powered CPU’s can be. Is the CPU limited by the motherboard bus speed and by amount of RAM? Kind of like the weakest link in a chain.
Regardless, the graphics guys are amazing. Now, they I can see needing the most souped machines available.
December 3, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Very cool. It’s amazing how far we’ve come in such a short time. Just think where we’ll be in 20 more years.
December 4, 2008 at 8:44 am
People go to the Moon twenty years later. And on Mars.
December 3, 2008 at 7:50 pm
that is amazing… intel keep going for faster and faster processors..
there is no limit for them.

I have a circa 1982 video card hanging on my wall above my computer desk. It’s about 3 times the length of a large video card these days, and it’s covered in small removable micro chips. It’s pretty neat.
I also have an uncovered HDD and floppy drive (with a disk mounted inside).
December 3, 2008 at 11:27 am
Haha Everyone else has already said, but wow Nerd…
And my girl calls me a nerd for being on my Mac and 360 all day.
If she only knew…
No offense obviously, nerds get their shit done.
December 3, 2008 at 11:21 am
Thanks for the love Jeremy. See you in Orlando.

December 3, 2008 at 9:00 am

December 4, 2008 at 6:24 pm
i use it . and we use it, they use it .. what do you talk about
December 3, 2008 at 7:33 am
That is pretty cool. I wish I had the free time to mess around with stuff like that. I used to. Then I got one job, then side gig, then a few sites of my own, and then a kid. You get the point. Do this sort of thing while you are young.
December 3, 2008 at 9:50 am
Or fun. Getting old doesn’t mean getting boring.
December 3, 2008 at 1:58 pm
Having a kid or older isn’t boring. It just means your priorities change from fiddling with new toys to things that mean more to you.
December 3, 2008 at 7:30 am
I wasn’t aware Commodore was still making computers. I’m going to buy the Commodore with the i7 just for old time sakes.
December 3, 2008 at 7:26 am
Very impressive at what those guys can do in such a short amount of time. Very nerdy.
December 4, 2008 at 8:43 am
Now the speed of technology development set money.
December 4, 2008 at 6:24 pm
everythin is money , of course
December 3, 2008 at 7:22 am
Wow! That is a little bit nerdy! But still very cool.

Thats cool. I have a collection of old harddrives with the front covers removed. The old RLL drives look really empressive.
I’m going to have to copy you on this.
December 4, 2008 at 8:37 am
Yes. I think I will be interesting to see the progress in the industry. -)
December 3, 2008 at 6:58 am
Thanks for covering this! I work for an agency that collaborated with Intel on it. Just wanted to let everyone know that the nerdiness continues on the blog section of the site. This month, the blog will showcase “fan battles”, where user generated videos will be pitted against each other. If you are interested in creating a video, the assets are on this section as well, and videos just need to be tagged DDRi7 on You Tube to be pulled into the page. So far there are already 10 user generated videos, so its a good way to get coverage if you are a designer or an animator.

Thought that was something I had seen before in stores or maybe in a museum…good nerd art, gives me an idea for my own nerd art.
