If you’ve worked in your niche for a while, you possess knowledge. And knowledge is power.
It’s the power to influence and the power to make money. But getting your ideas out into the world is difficult.
You have competition from a million other sources of knowledge. And you could go about sharing your knowledge in so many ways.
But webinars are one of the only ways of sharing knowledge that makes money and consistently converts leads into followers. And if you do it right, you’ll breed excitement all over the place like little marketing rabbits.
Webinars are the most effective method. And I’m going to take some time to get you updated on how to actually make money doing them.
1. Wait, What Are Webinars Exactly?
Webinars are essentially online classes. Typically, they’re hosted by an expert in a particular niche. Companies like HyperTarget Marketing are experts in their field. Other times, they’re hosted by people who have seen success in their careers.
While most webinars are free, they aren’t public. The attendee has to register to receive access.
It doesn’t have to be a formal class. In fact, many webinars are guided Q&A sessions.
They often include some sort of pitch at the end. If you’re selling a book, you’d probably ask people to buy your book for more info. Or if you’re selling a product, ask the audience to consider the product that made them so successful.
Webinars include visual cues unless the format is Q&A. This could include a PowerPoint (I personally hate PowerPoint) or some sort of slide deck.
Sometimes a host will even interview an expert if they aren’t one themselves. This is a great method. You could even record and upload your webinar to make more money on YouTube and similar platforms.
2. What Makes a Webinar a Moneymaker?
If it’s free, why the heck do it? Well, most of the internet is “free.” But there’s always a price.
With Google and Facebook and pretty much every website, it’s ads that make money. And you’re “buying” access to these platforms through your information.
While most websites assume consent when you log on to their services, a webinar is more transparent in how it collects information. It’s the gateway you set up that facilitates getting information on your leads.
People can’t attend your webinar without giving you at least an email. They need to give you information in exchange for your information.
And information is definitely a currency in our world today. Even back in 2009, when the internet was just reaching adulthood, we were talking about information as currency.
But what kind of information could you gather? And how could you benefit?
An Email List the Length Of Santa’s Naughty List
We all know that none of us made it onto Santa’s “good list.” No matter how hard we tried, we’d always get into trouble for something.
So, imagine how long Santa’s naughty list must be. That’s how long your email list could be if you leveraged webinars.
The cost for entry should at least be an email address. And you should already be doing email marketing.
While some of us subscribe to way too many email lists, if your product is interesting enough, this list will convert. And the more people you have on your list, the more likely you are to convert.
And Convert You Will
Lead generation and conversion can be massive on webinars. And if you’re not taking advantage, you’re really missing out.
While some webinars only convert around 5-15% of leads, custom built webinar registration pages can convert up to 45% of visitors.
That’s a giant leap you can’t deny. And if you can take advantage of it, you’ll make mad cash down the line.
Industry Connections Are A Plus
The more connections you have the more possibilities exist to make money or break into new markets. It’s who you know that grows your business.
You will often have other experts show up in your webinars. This is a great opportunity to shine and make connections in similar niches.
And if you make connections, you can invite other experts and successful people into your future webinars. Co-webinars are a great way to increase your reach.
You’ll have their leads tuning into your webinar, adding to your own leads and followers. It’s mutually beneficial for both parties.
If You’re Not an Expert, You Soon Will Be
If you can teach it, you know it.
I taught training courses as a Quality Assurance director at a social services company. And while I would need to review some things, I could still competently teach a course a year later, no problem.
I could also implement any of those teachings in a heartbeat. Why? Because in teaching I learn better than anyone. I have to answer questions and be challenged by my students.
And if you are able to answer most questions competently, your students will see you as an expert. Your reputation will then proceed you into every webinar thereafter and into your other marketing ventures.
3. So, How Do You Make Your Webinars Better?
If you’re seeing the lower conversion rates on the scale, then you can do a few things to increase your conversion rate. And they’re not exactly rocket science either.
Sometimes you just need a new perspective to get rolling.
Unbounce Your Landing Page
Remember, the only way for a webinar to be successful is if people show up. You need to optimize that landing page to funnel people into your webinar.
Unbouncing will help you optimize your page for maximum conversion.
Ensure Users Sign Up Every Day
Use the power of what you already have: social media, email lists, ad marketing. All of these things could contain some sort of redirect to your webinar landing page.
Be Engaged With Social Media
You’re not in a walled off room when doing a webinar. You have access to all your platforms.
Announce ahead of time on social media that you’ll be answering questions. Then invite people to post questions for you to answer during your webinar.
This will make your social media followers feel valued even if some of them can’t make it to the event. They will probably still sign up and check out the video after.
A Promo Code at the End for Extra Conversion Sauce
One great trick in marketing involves time hacking. Make people think they don’t have any time to wait on a purchasing decision.
How? Offer a promo code that lasts a limited time. How limited? How about two hours limited.
Not everyone will feel the pressure. But it will be violent shove for those who are straddling the fence.
Go For the Gold
Webinars are conversion gold. And they really don’t take as much work as you think.
Get your butt in gear and start preparing and marketing now. You’ll make so much money, you’ll come back to thank me.
