  1. Haha Hell yes! I knew the time I spent on DTD would be well worth it someday. Looks like it will be close though as my personal best is about 100 below yours.

  2. Ahh DTD… it’s been my drug of choice for a few weeks now. I had given up on World of Warcraft to focus my time on pro blogging and SEO, but really all I’ve been doing is shooting down creeps 🙂

  3. Some instructions on how to play and what keys to use would be helpful since their instructions link isn’t working.

  4. GUYS — THIS IS HILARIOUS HAHA.

I fucking hate this game I definately ate up 30 hours one week playing it on MEDIUM and could not break fricken 7200 or so…

… but im 100% positive there is a secret “CHEAT” where you basically lay out paths… let half the little buggers go through your maze — then BLOCK the exit (but have a 2nd exit that makes them go all way back around your maze) and anyway…

it’s TRICKY TRICKY if you study any of the top 10 ppl they are all pulling off this bullshit haha but i havn’t ifgured out how they do it yet =(

  5. Interesting. Shoemoney issues challenge, and the instructions page goes down. Hmmmm. If I was a Rich Jerk I might be getting a lawsuit ready…

Anyway, how the hell do we join your group?

  6. 1269 on level 36 for the first time. I didn’t know you could upgrade your towers until round 34.

  7. That swoosh you hear is the sound of thousands of productive hours being sucked out the window.

  8. OK in one post Shoe says be productive to make money. Then he sets this challenge.

I personally think he is trying to keep up all from competing with him by making us play a bot setup by dilsmack 😉

  9. *LOL* love how the prize will come from amazon 😉 as an Azoogle affiliate amazon becomes your new shopping spot for all things 😉

  10. http://www.PPCRICHES.com takes over #1 on medium by a huge margin

    HOHOHO PEEP IT OUT KIDS

Sorry- had to delete my secret map… ok back to work.

Also, I’ve BLOGED about SHOEMONEY at my blog post if anyone is interested. Maybe I’ll mess around with “Hard” level later but…. well…. my workers getting mad that the boss is playing tower defense.

HAHAHA what a funny thing for you to do Jeremy, love it.

    JJ

  11. Lets make this a class action lawsuit since it involves all of us. Your screwed shoe! We are drafting document now!

  12. hey congrats you win on what everyone is not playing! play the hard (as the post says!

  13. Cool contest. But dammit – the hard level is really hard, I keep dying :p

  14. Yeah, definitely going to be harder than it seems. How long have you been playing Shoe?

  15. I try to avoid games. Especially, video games. They are too addictive. I wouldn’t get anything else done.

  16. It’s harder than I thought!! But once you get up to the higher levels the GOLD comes in QUICK and you die quick too :/

  17. The best I can do is 4028 on hard. And it takes like 20m a round…

  18. Damn you Shoemoney, damn you and this game! Already lost two evenings to it, I hope this post scrolls off soon…

  19. Oh YEAH! This took so dam long, but after a few hours I have a maze that works BOMB. New number one right here: TylerC

  20. […] Shoemoney announced a competition for Desktop Tower Defense. Who ever is in first place for the Shoemoney group hard difficulty risk […]

  21. Well, it only took me all weekend, but I just scored above you at the #3 spot on Medium… *sighs* I am terrified to go to hard…

  22. […] project for something more interesting. Currently it has been some stupid tower defense Shoemoney posted about (stupid because it’s been wasting my time like crazy), Starcraft (the OG of games), and a […]

  23. […] This Post on Shoemoney where he offered $100 to anyone that could beat him at the game on the ‘hard level’. Now he’s not really going to give you a $100 he’s going to buy you anything at amazon for $100. He gets these gift certificates from the affiliate company Azoogle, they are very nice and give you free stuff once you start making them tons of money. I think other people have gotten free plasma’s from the company as well. […]

  24. Ouch. You’re currently in 20th. Looks like you’ll be paying the piper unless you get busy.

  25. just had a look at the top man TylerC’s Mazes – boy can he play quick 😉

    Maze 1 – Hard: 7499 points – 27/05/2007 21:15:54
    Maze 2 – Hard: 7108 points – 27/05/2007 21:12:14
    Maze 3 – Hard: 6731 points – 27/05/2007 21:08:06

WTF are you doing? Playing on 3 machines? LOL

  26. BTW, Dont try to copy my mazes! I sell all my stuff at end so you cant see most of it, and I will hate u if you beat me lol.

  27. I did not use this method and I made it to the top…. I found its a lot better to focus stronger units in the center of the grid.

  28. I detect a little hacking going on there. Note: You can’t get extra time points if you finish with zero lives. TylerC did exactly that.

  29. I’m sending you a bill for all my lost hours of productivity Shoe…TylerC, if you’re one-tenth as good at online marketing as you are at DTD, I wanna hire you 🙂

  30. Matter of fact Monty… Do you have an email I could contact you at/ a page. I have a good proposition for you.

  31. Rather obviously, TylerC cheated.

I think I had the top legit score. How do I claim my prize?

  32. […] Shoemoney threw out a link to a cool little online flash game […]

  33. How did I cheat?

Because I found a strategy that obviously works better than yours?

  34. Kudos Ice, I claim (the unrewarded) second place.

@TylerC you can’t score in the 7000’s with zero lives because you lose your bonus points. How could you not know that?

  35. Say what you want, all I know is what I did worked. You should not knock it until you are on the last level and try it.

  36. Are you a liar as well as a cheater?

I know the rules of the game. The scores you got are impossible, not because they are “so hard that I think it’s impossible”, but because they actually are impossible by the scoring rules of the game. There are various ways to hack the code to allow you “impossible” scores – you aren’t the first “creative” person to achieve those scores.

  37. After reading through the entire comment thread, it’s now kind of obvious that Tyler is like 13 years old. So I back off the harsh language (seriously).

Tyler – I see your 9000 score has disappeared… Trying to make it realistic?

Scoring works like this – all the creeps in the 50-level game add up to 4992 points. The max time bonus you can get (which you only get if you have at least one life left) is 2882. The lives-left bonus is equal to 25 * (remaining lives), so that maxes at 500. Thus, the highest score you can get is 8374, which is easily achieved on the fun “10K Gold” level.

The highest score you can achieve with 0 lives left is 4992, by killing all the creeps except some of the junior spawns (which aren’t worth any killing points) at the end.

And BTW – if you now modify your cheating scores to make them plausible, since you’ve already shown that you are a cheater, I would hope nobody gives you credit for them.

Anyway, if there is actually a prize, someone can send me an email with “TD Defense” in the subject line. Otherwise, no sweat.

  38. Never said I didn’t 😛 what I do know is you and Ice are not getting anything so please stop complaining.

  47. The trick is to make the creeps go back and forth through the same path over and over again. Usually I do it by blocking one end of the path, waiting until all of the creeps get to the other end and then deleting the block and creating a new one. The ends are both near the exits. In the link you gave, one of the blocks blocking the path for the creeps is still there, so it’s confusing to look at it. The trick to getting the high scores seems to be to take out the 2 boss flying creeps – the ones that piss me off the most often – from there it’s easy to keep them moving back and forth… High score folks start selling off everything toward the end (and building some new towers) to keep their mazes a secret and keep everyone else from learning the optimal tower configurations. That being said, I’ve killed every single creep and had 20 lives on hard and never gotten a score over 8700… I’m not sure how folks are getting the additional 2000 points and getting these 10K+ scores – either they have a cheat or they’ve figured out a maze that allows them to release large numbers of creeps at once from the beginning…
