Why I Stopped Reading Articles about Success

April 22, 2014
Thumbnail image for Why I Stopped Reading Articles about Success

Lately, as I’ve been getting all kinds of experiences trying to raise money for my startup the PAR Program, I’ve been thinking a lot about what makes people successful. Sure I’ve sold a few companies, and I wrote a lot about this topic, but I don’t think there is one single successful person that thinks […]

Today I Mourn The Changing Face of Website Monetization and Online Advertising

April 17, 2014
Thumbnail image for Today I Mourn The Changing Face of Website Monetization and Online Advertising

Today I mourn. I mourn great services that were blindly misled by venture capitalist off the edge of the world. I am afraid for tomorrow. The tomorrow where lore crushes fact, and value is as empty as smoke in the air. I am referring to this evil belief that Data is more valuable than service. […]

April 16, 2014

One of the most frequently faced problems marketers and entrepreneurs in business face these days is the technical aspects of running an online business (or business heavily affected by online). And it totally makes sense, because now the nerds and their software are taking over the internet. Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Twitter, Pinterest, Dropbox… all these […]

How to Master Stuff (Even If You Hate Doing It)

April 15, 2014

For some kids, it’s soccer. For some kids, it’s playing the piano. No, not me. For me, it was the abacus. If you don’t know what that is, it’s bunch of beads you move around to signify digits. Believe it or not, you can do addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division. Of course, I was a […]

The Internet is completely changing. There are 250 million domain addresses running on 22 Top Level Domains at the moment (.com is by far the most common and so is .org, .net, .biz.) In the next five years there will be over 2000 TLDs including my new favorite – dotCEO. Many people think .com IS […]

If you haven’t yet read my pre-raising money post you might want to do so. As I would come to learn we were in a very strange position to raise money for the PAR Program… kind of in no mans land.   We didn’t have a “good idea” that was going to require a bunch […]

FTC goes after jerk.com for misleading consumers on “people reviews”

April 8, 2014
Thumbnail image for FTC goes after jerk.com for misleading consumers on “people reviews”

As you guys know I follow the FTC pretty closely especially when it comes to web commerce or services. Complaint sites and reputation management are big business. Ranking for people and companies names, especially when the title is in a negative result gets a lot of traffic. On the other side when most consumers see […]

Why Change is the ONLY Thing Constant

April 7, 2014
Thumbnail image for Why Change is the ONLY Thing Constant

First it was Frienster, then MySpace, then Tagged/Hi5/etc. First it was Altavista, then Ask, then Yahoo, etc. First it was adsense arbitrage, free trial rebills, CPC to CPA arbitrage, mobile gaming, etc. If you noticed, the only thing constant here in the past 3 sentences are the commas. Internet is changing. All the time. Why? […]

Thumbnail image for Are You Making The Wrong Assumptions From Your Adwords Data?

It’s 2014. For some reason though, most companies seem to be stuck in 2007. At least when it comes to their marketing strategy. If there is one marketing concept that has been drilled home for over 100 years, it is this… Test, Test, Test. Everyone knows it, so why do I find so few people […]
