Site get removed from Google? Here is how to get it back

Google had a bug that was recently fixed where anyone could anonymously report a website for spam and it would be removed from the search results in the next couple days. It has since been fixed. I did not want to report it on here for obvious reasons.

This friend had 5 total sites get removed from Google. Obviously someone targeted him and knew what they were doing.

Anyway if suddenly your site does not appear in Google log into webmaster central and file for a re inclusion request.

Here is the correspondence my friend received for all his domain. They were all back within days.

Here is what he got back same day from Google:

Reconsideration request for http://XXXXX.com/
February 10, 2012
We’ve received a request from a site owner to reconsider how we index the following site: http://XXXXX.com/
We’ll review the site. If we find that it’s no longer in violation of our Webmaster Guidelines, we’ll reconsider our indexing of the site. Please allow several weeks for the reconsideration request. We do review all requests, but unfortunately we can’t reply individually to each request.

Here is what he got back when they were reinstated.

February 14, 2012
Dear site owner or webmaster of http://XXXXX.com/,
We received a request from a site owner to reconsider http://XXXXXX.com/ for compliance with Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.
Previously the webspam team had taken manual action on your site because we believed it violated ourquality guidelines. After reviewing your reconsideration request, we have revoked this manual action. It may take some time before our indexing and ranking systems are updated to reflect the new status of your site.
Of course, there may be other issues with your site that could affect its ranking without a manual action by the webspam team. Google’s computers determine the order of our search results using a series of formulas known as algorithms. We make hundreds of changes to our search algorithms each year, and we employ more than 200 different signals when ranking pages. As our algorithms change and as the web (including your site) changes, some fluctuation in ranking can happen as we make updates to present the best results to our users. If your site continues to have trouble in our search results, please see this article for help with diagnosing the issue.
Thank you for helping us to maintain the quality of our search results.
Sincerely,
Google Search Quality Team

So if your not already make sure you have your sites in webmaster central

Say for instance I was linking to your site Shoemoney.com. If someone targeted your site and your site was removed from the index, wouldn’t my site potentially get a penalty for linking to a site that was considered spam? If so, the reaches of this bug could have been very far and wide.

I don’t buy into that so much… If you were part of a link farm I think you would be penalized more then the site your linking to.

I’m surprised google responded so quickly. I had my adsense account banned becuase of a change of policy and one of my sites was deemed to be a Adsense only page..I never got them to turn me back on dispite having been with them for years without any issues and doing about 500-600 monthly on adsense. ended up having to make a new EIN to get another account.

Hey Jeremy,
This post was very useful. I had a site banned a few months ago when I outsourced some work. It was a pain in the rear. A lot of people however don’t realize that it can be reversed if your truly didn’t do anything to cross Google. Keep posting awesome content. Big fan!

Keep it breezy,
Andrew

Google’s algorithm changes create a domino effect in the Internet. Sites that adhere to guidelines can be removed or penalized for being associated with sites that violate guidelines or employ black hat tactics.

Seriously useful post. I’ve only been marketing online for 2 years and still have loads to learn. I first found out how fussy Google can be when I got my AdWords account banned. They didn’t really send me a warning for something I wasn’t even aware wasn’t allowed. They just banned me!

My own two websites are not appearing on google search, but they have 10k plus traffic, I don’t know whats going on. So You mean I should contact them through webmasters tools?

What solution to get indexed again? Only reading standardized emails form Google and about the fact that site was deindexed, there is no value at all.

Hi Jeremy thanks for this information, last week I had my youtube video channel banned. I still have the same video on youtube, by a guy I got to put the video on traffic geyser before this decision was made. I don’t want to put the link here, as I do not want to make it look like a promotion or something. What do I need to do? The video is showing users how to protect themselves when using wireless networks in public places, I have also talked about my book which is on Amazon in the video. I am pulling my hair out, how do I request for a reinclusion as in this case?
Ken
