Special Note

We decided to test a commenting service who has been dying to pay us to do a review of their services. Like all other items we are asked to review we test them out before putting our name behind it. As you can see below this one did not make the cut. There was 75 comments within 5 minutes of this post going live. At first I started to delete them but then I thought I would leave them and see if you can pick which ones are fake and which ones are real.

Russell Rockefeller – Affiliate Stalker

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

I come across some very strange people from time to time but this Russell Rockefeller guy is up there.

I originally banned this guy from posting in the deadbeat Facebook group. The group (which is integrated on this blog) was created to help people get paid and also warn people from affiliate networks and advertisers who did not pay. The admin’s of the group felt Russell never contributed anything useful and was just trolling so he was banned.

He informed us that he is huge on Facebook and that it was a big mistake to ban him. – Gotcha…

But I guess since that (threat?) didn’t work he decided to go on the offense and threaten legal action. I sent him our attorney’s contact information. Still to this day have never heard anything from his legal council… It’s really strange because this guy is HUGE on the internet and his legal threats were very scary.

Then one day I saw this posted to his thousand friends on his Facebook Wall:

Russell Rockefeller

I appreciate the hate and the link actually. Its nice having a HUGE guy on the internet like this send his adoring fans your way.

I gotta be honest, I am humbled. Who knew that being a reject who’s only contribution has been “showing off my fat ass in t-shirts” would work out so well. Its amazing how tens of thousands of people come here everyday that are into to that.

That is probably a VERY under monetized niche!

Surprisingly though Russel quickly deleted that and sent me a message saying he had cooled off… but then threatening more legal action… eek!

Sidenote: Why do people always mistake this blog as a “news” website. Its a blog… its my blog… and its my opinions. Also page 10 of the deadbeats section isnt exactly “front page” but hey if your listing it on your resume then I guess you can say “as seen on ShoeMoney.com”

Now I gotta tell you this is impressive. Russell is obviously no joke and nobody should question his credibility. He has discovered a way to build a “strong” case against me for slander – Because I posted, in writing, that he was not allowed to post in the deadbeat area anymore.

Now again I don’t possess the legal mind or experience that Russell has but I always thought that Slander was spoken and Libel was written.

But a reject like me, who’s only contribution to the world  is being a fat t-shirt model, shouldn’t question the credibility or knowledge of Russell Rockefeller. Its clear with his thousand Facebook friends that this guy is a force in the affiliate industry.

Now while this really kept me up at night I went back to what I do for a living… eating and sorting through t-shirts to model.

Then all of a sudden started getting messages from my “mass email deployment” friends. Evidently Russell is very well known in the affiliate world… but as I have come to find out, it’s not for the reasons he thinks. People warned me about how he can become infatuated with others.

Just last week Russell, who can’t seem to let go, took time away from his empire to send me another Facebook message:

That is really awesome. I can sleep at night knowing that Russell has finally moved on…

But just hours ago I get a notice on Facebook that he has mentioned me in a comment:

All kidding aside, its one thing to talk smack but its another when someone becomes so infatuated with you that a day does not go by when you have not heard something that the person is doing or plotting with you.

Hopefully Russell is not having visions of raping my naked corpse.

Millionaires continue to climb in the US as more people go out of work

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

Some people doubt my stance on how politicians always cater to the wealthy.

Sure they tell a good story how they will help the poor but eventually the rich always win.

Consider this.

Last week another report came out showing the number of millionaires in the United States grew by almost 10% in 2010.

Meanwhile unemployment soared by an increase of 25% over 2009.

But not just Millionaires are growing at a high rate. People with a net worth of over 5 million grew by 8% in 2010

From a Forbes article:

The number of ultra-high-net-worth households, which is defined as those with over $5 million in investable assets, also increased 8% to 1,100,000 in 2010. According to the U.S. Federal Reserve, household wealth was $56.8 trillion at the end of 2010 with millionaires controlling about 56% of U.S. wealth, according to a survey by Fidelity Investments.

The United States is quickly going the way of Mexico and many other countries with extreme class separation. Take a look around you. The middle class is dying. There is only going to be poor or rich.

Millionaires

Picture from CNN

Which side are you going to be on?

Fortunately with the internet anyone of any class can achieve financial success. And with zero investment. All the information is out there. It just takes patience and determination.

The social proof is everywhere. There are countless stories of rags to riches.

There will never be a more level playing field for people to change their financial stars. But buying an ebook or an info product wont do it magically for you.

With all this government intervention and taxes coming around the “gold rush” on the internet is coming to an end.

How SEO Link Wheels Work And Why Are They So Effective?

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

A couple weeks ago I posted a case study profiling one of our affiliates for the ShoeMoney System and how he was able to take his $1,000 investment and turn it into almost $100,00.00 in profit by using a SEO Link Wheels Service.

While the results were fascinating (and still have stood the test of time and google updates) we had a TON of questions from users who had more specifics.

Questions like:

  • What exactly are SEO Link Wheels?
  • How much do SEO Link Wheels Cost?
  • How fast do results happen?

Now if any of you have ever seen a SEO on stage or in any public medium you know how reluctant they are to answer any questions about the “secret sauce” they use to get sites to the top.

But when I pinged SEO Link Wheelers Levi Horowitz was more than happy to jump on for a quick Skype call to answer users questions.

Thanks Levi for the interview and the enlightenment!

Did you just get trashed online?

One of the most requested topics for a ShoeMoney Segment is “reputation management”.

Nothing makes people feel worse then Goggling their business or personal name and seeing something very negative coming up.

But what can you do? We not only show you how to get stuff taken down but also what you can do to prevent negative things from getting to the top of results:

What I’ve Learned From 4 Years Of Making Money Online

Posted by Justin Goff.

I’ve been in a “reflection mood” lately, so I wanna share with you some of the BIG lessons I’ve learned over the past 4 years making my living online.

1.  Enjoy the process of building your business, because the end result won’t make you any happier…

I wrote about this the other day on my own blog and got a lot of good feedback from my readers.   Most people live their lives hoping the future will get better and make them heppy.  Here’s the truth… It won’t.  If you’re not happy building your business, you’re not going to be happy when you finally “make it”.

2.  Working from home is a LONELY experience…

As a copywriter, I’ve written a lot of copy for “work from home” type products.  I always try to sell the person the dream of quitting their job, and making thousands of dollars while sitting in their pajamas (cause thats what they want).  Well the truth of the matter is, working from home can be a very lonely experience.  And it’s even tougher when you’re going through a hard time like a break up or the death of a friend.  We don’t have the same kind of social outlet that most people do when they’re at a job with 50+ employees.

3.  At some point you have to treat this like a “real business”

When you’re starting out, or you’re an affiliate making a few bucks you can kind of do whatever you want.  But once you get your business to the point that it’s doing $100.000+ you need to start treating this like a real business.  This means you have to commit yourself to doing certain things every day, every week and every month.  This isn’t what most newbies want to hear, but that’s what it takes to be successful.

4.  The more money you make, the easier it gets…

You’re probably familiar with the phrase “the rich get richer”…  When it comes to your business, this is definitely true.  I noticed when my  31 Day Fat Loss Cure product started to take off, we saw a BIG snowball of new revenue streams coming in.  We made more direct sales, we got more affiliates, even our search rankings improved.   Once the ball gets rolling, you need to ride the momentum and cash in on all the opportunities that start showing up for you.

5.  The less people you depend on, the better off you’ll be…

One of the surest ways to drive yourself nuts is to depend on other people for your success.  This includes affiliates, product launches or even search rankings in Google.  If you want to have complete control over your business you need to learn how to drive your own paid traffic from multiple sources (Facebook, PPC, Media Buys, Offline etc..)

6.  Discipline is everything…

My buddy Craig Ballantyne has helped me a lot in this category.  When I talk about Craig to other marketers, the only word I use to describe him is “Machine”.  Craig might not be the “smartest” internet marketer out there, but he makes more than 99% of people online because of his consistent discipline.  I’m pretty sure he does 7 figures a year currently, and if you looked at all the “stuff” he gets done, you would see why.  Staying disciplined is not fun, or sexy… but it’s essential to running a business for multiple years (and not just a few months).

My Wrap Up

A large majority of the people you read about online are nothing more than a “flash in the pan”.  They make a few thousand dollars, tell everyone about it and then are never successful again.  I’ve been doing this full time for 4 years… Shoe’s been doing it for 10+.  While our businesses are completely different, there’s a lot of similarities as to how we got where we are…

Shoe was in debt and unhappy with his life and decided to turn things around.  Back when I hit rock bottom, my girlfriend of 3 years broke up with me, and I lost my big consulting client that was 90% of my income in the SAME week.  I was miserable and 2 months away from being dead broke.  The only place I could go was up.

I went on to make The 31 Day Fat Loss Cure one of the top fat loss products on Clickbank in just a few months – and since then I’ve realized that these 6 ideas I just discussed were what helped me to get there.

Feel free to leave me a comment below if you have any questions or you’d like to share some of the BIG things you’ve learned about making money online…

Say Hello to America’s New Consumer Financial Cop

Posted by WilliamRothbard.

On July 21, sellers of consumer financial services will be answering to a new sheriff. On that day, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), a pet project of President Obama’s consumer finance czar, Elizabeth Warren, comes into being, charged with preventing fraud and abuse in the mortgage, credit card, payday, debt relief and any other industry (except auto dealers, of course!) that sells financial products to consumers.

Until now, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has been the principal consumer financial regulator, both under its own statute and other financial laws and regulations. The FTC has exercised that authority with a vengeance, bringing hundreds of cases in tandem with state authorities against foreclosure relief, debt relief, “quick cash” (i.e., free grants, business opportunities), and other financial schemes perceived to be exploiting the economic anxieties of jobless Americans. The FTC will retain this authority under its own statute, but the CFPB is slated to be the nation’s chief consumer financial “protector,” with immense power to regulate any financial product offered “primarily for personal, family or household purposes.”

The CFPB and FTC will be required to coordinate rules, but the CFPB will sit atop the consumer financial regulatory totem pole. It will have exclusive consumer protection jurisdiction over 17 “enumerated” laws (i.e., Truth in Lending, Fair Credit Reporting, Fair Debt Collection) previously administered by the FTC and financial agencies. It will have broad regulatory and enforcement authority over the consumer financial offerings of “non-banks” as well as banks.

In addition, it will have supervisory authority (i.e., reporting, examinations, registration) over big banks (more than $10 billion in assets), mortgage, payday and student lenders regardless of size, and other “larger” non-banks, based on size, assessment of consumer risk, and other factors. (It already has announced plans to extend its supervisory powers to debt collection, debt relief, consumer reporting, consumer credit, money transmitting, check cashing and prepaid cards.) Its freedom to act will be considerable, subject only to a supermajority veto of a new Financial Oversight Council. It will be largely independent of Congress (funded principally from the Fed’s budget) and bigger than the FTC. It will be a regulatory behemoth – an “FTC on steroids.”

In addition to enforcing the enumerated laws, the CFPB will have wide authority to prohibit “unfair and deceptive” practices, similar to the FTC’s. Unlike the FTC, though, it also will have power to prohibit “abusive” practices. The FTC primarily enforces “truth in advertising,” rarely using its “unfairness” authority because of inherent difficulties in defining the term (What is unfair?). The CFPB can be expected to act much more as a quasi-legislative policymaker, making full use of its powers not only to enforce truth (i.e., clear, timely disclosures) but to impose what it thinks is “right” and “fair” (i.e., banning unaffordable loans, prepayment penalties, “excessive” fees and the like).

Warren, who has been setting up the CFPB (but will not head it, the White House said this week), has made clear its first priority will be the mortgage industry that contributed to the housing crisis. Undoubtedly, though, its reach will extend into all corners of consumer financial services. If you’re offering mortgage, credit card, credit reporting, credit counseling, foreclosure/debt relief, payday or other financial products to consumers, it isn’t too early to say hello to your “new regulator.” To get more acquainted, visit www.consumerfinance.gov.

Blu Electronic Cigaretes Rock – And Affiliates are Cashing In

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

A couple weeks ago I was talking with my good friend Aaron Baker, EVP at Atrinsic, about him speaking at ER8. During our discussion he was telling me they were super fired up to have just become the Agency Of Record for Blu electric cigarettes affiliate program.

Now for those that don’t know being the AOR (Agency Of Record) for any product is a big deal. It means that if you are promoting Blu electric cigarettes you are going through them. Basically as an affilaite what this means to you is, if you are promoting an offer NOT with the AOR you are getting a network 2-3 levels below a tiered fraction of what you could be getting if you went direct. Aaron told me they have several affiliates doing tens of thousands of dollars a month through their affiliate program and they are not even pushing it yet…

Now back to the Blu electric cigs- The first time I ever saw one of those Blu electric cigarettes was right after I arrived at Newark Airport for Affiliate Summit East in 2009. Eli, ( BlueHatSeo.com ) was smoking one at the airport. It was pretty sweet. When he inhaled the end of it lit up Blue. But when he exhaled it smelled and looked like cigarette smoke.

For those who don’t know Eli, that cat always has the latest toys… and being an SEO/Affiliate baller he can afford them.

I asked Eli what was up with it… How can it be legal to fire up in the airport? Was there really nicotine in it?

He told me not only was it legal to smoke in the airport but he was smoking it all the way on his 4 hour plane ride from Oregon! He also said it did contain nicotine but, you can adjust the level you want. Course he had the strongest cartridges.

Now I smoked back in the day – Starting with Newports (back then we called then Newdogs ) for about 7 years then switched to Marlboro lights (1.5 packs a day) for 3 years until I met my Girlfriend (Now wife) in 2001. She wasn’t putting up with no smoker, so I dumped it. Took me a year to kick nicotine completely… how I did that is a whole other post.

BUT like a lot of previous smokers I am only in remission. Once I have about 4-5 drinks my willpower goes in the shitter and I spring the $10 or whatever the retarded price a pack of smokes are now a day and fire it up.

The night usually consists of me smoking less than 1/4 of the pack, waking up feeling like a ashtray got dumped in my mouth, and of course my fingers a bit yellow smelling like cigs. Also, I usually give away the rest of the pack to bums (its amazing how many closet or previous smokers come out of the wood work at industry events).

In vegas I smoke 2-3x more just because you can smoke everywhere.

Repeat that every night of the conference I attend.

So, I am relaying all this to Baker and he’s like dude those guys over at Blu read your blog and want to talk with you… couple days later we got on the phone and had some interesting discussions about marketing strategies.

They also demoed some cutting edge social media integration they are working on with the cigarettes (I will cover this in another post.. its pretty amazing)

Then one day we got this sweeeeeeeet package from them. They sent us a starter pack + 2 singles + like every flavor they offer.

I wasted no time testing it out. I threw a catridge in and gave it some old school heavy drags. HOLY COW… I coughed it up like it was some ditch weed. These things were strong. I fired up my photo booth on my computer to take a picture:

Then after like 3 more tries to get the perfect shot of me doing some elite french inhaling, I realized I was buzzzzed from the hot box. Sure enough I had loaded up a medium nicotine cartridge.

Here is a really cool part though. They also have non nicotine cartridges. And also flavors besides cigarettes. Cherry and other stuff. It was pretty sweet and had a lot of the non smokers in our office puffing away.

I fricking love these things. They are perfect for me. When I want one, I want one but I don’t really need a whole cigarette let a lone a whole pack. Then when you consider that each cartridge contains over 1200 full drags and has no expiration its like 1 of these puppies should get me by for a LONG time at conferences.

PLUS my fingers wont look like I been eating cheetos all night and smelling like smoke. Not to mention the ash tray smoke breath.

I almost forgot to toss this in. The Blu folks told us that almost all of their affiliates also use the product. Which makes sense.

Thanks Blu!

Epic Direct throws BBQ at Huge Hefner’s Crib

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

This years AzoogleAds (Epic Direct) annual PlayBoy mansion party was up yet another level. They changed it up a bit and threw a daytime BBQ instead of the normal night party.

The “Saturday Day BBQ at Hef’s” event this year was pretty awesome. Great food, awesome music and atmosphere… and of course the nakid bunnies running around.

A nice surprise was that Hef came out and make an appearance. From what we were told this was the first time he had come out at a event since he was left at the alter last month.

What was even cooler is his new girlfriend, Shera Bechard, hung out with us the whole day! It was a bit surreal being I just saw her on CNN the night before.

Unfortunately I could not partake in a lot of the events cause of my torn up knee (hey only 4 weeks left until I can put weight on it).

Shera had some good advice on rehab. I guess she had dated some pro athletes and nursed them back to health. She was not interested in coming back with me to Lincoln Nebraska to help with my rehab but she gave me some solid advice:

In this industry there are a few companies who throw parties that people remember the rest of their lives. This was one of them.

Thanks to Michael Sprouse and Epic Direct for another awesome event!
