Looks more pro than a lot of the other services out there. May have to look into this.
It sounds like a great alternative to adsense. Buying and selling placement ads for websites, blogs, YouTube, etc. should give you the option of choosing the best rates.
Not to mention Facebook and Twitter. The opportunity to leverage on high-traffic social networking sites is going to be worth the investment.
I know a lot of people who are so passionate about the social media platforms they’re using and who have an even more huge following than some of the brands’ fan pages I know. This could be a great platform for them to finally start earning incomes from what they do for fun.
It sure is nice to earn from something that you enjoy doing.
Like what they always say, “It’s not work if you enjoy doing it.”
I haven’t done any direct advertising before so this sounds like a good way to start.
Worth considering…if I like what I see, might recommend too.
I could use the extra income I could get from this. It’s high time I start earning from my blog.
I wish my blog’s already well-established so I could give this service a try. I still have to work on generating more traffic so it could attract advertisers.
A very promising venture. I’ll make sure I avail of their services once I start monetizing my blog.
Nice. Checkin’ this out and it looks quite promising. Doesn’t pay to let the new guy in town go without a run at it! Thanks for the info!
It can be a useful and cost-effective platform for advertisers to have placed products as entry points to their online catalogs. It’s not just a tool to improve brand recognition but can be used to actually increase sales.
Awareness advertising can usually drive direct response rates higher, which is why it’s always a good investment.
Thanks for featuring this new company. I’ll have to check them out right now.
I read that study shows ads running with related content are more likely to be recalled than ads running alongside unrelated content. The same study also found that social networking portals are among those sites that have a high advertising recall. This service would sure help advertisers take advantage of the opportunities that research seems to indicate.
Why would anyone place ads on a totally unrelated site? That’s just a waste of money since you can’t expect much conversion from that. You might get a few clicks but as for conversions…highly doubtful.
Well, some unrelated sites could actually turn out to be useful at some point. But I agree, it’s better to invest more on more targeted campaigns.
Like the shirt Shoemoney.
Cool shirt! Is there more where that came from?
Any chance you’re giving away some of the shirts you’ve got?
When are you going to raffle some of the cool shirts and stuff you’ve got there, Shoe?
I’m guessing he gives some of them away to charity.
Seems like a great place to buy placement ads to generate traffic and backlinks to my website. I’ll definitely check it out.
I’m all for anything that would drive more traffic to my online bookshop.
A great way to start earning additional revenue from my blog. Thanks for the heads-up, Jeremy!
It could provide a nice, steady income stream that doesn’t require much in terms of maintenance.
They featured the shirt on their blog. Are they giving those away to their publishers and advertisers?
Not a bad incentive. Interesting service, by the way. Something that publishers like me could really make use of.
You must have tons of shirts by now. Do you keep all of them?
I like the shirt. You sure do get a lot of good stuff here.
I have an extra space on my closet for whatever you can’t fit in yours.
Sounds like an easy way to earn money whether you are a publisher or an advertiser. Certainly worth a look.
This could allow for a more strategic placement of ads and blending of products into relevant highly visited sites. Definitely an edge for online advertisers.
The operative words being “strategic placement”. I’ve learned that lesson well during my first attempts at buying placement ads. Now I make it a point to choose the sites or blogs that offer the best value for my money.
Both publishers and advertisers would be able to choose the best rates as well as the types of ads that would go well with the sites’ content.
Advertisers get the best value for their money on sites where publishers have established a good relationship with their readers. This usually indicates quality content and strong readership.
This should be great for advertisers who want more control on where their ad shows. From what I see so far, it’s a win-win deal for both publisher and advertiser.
I really should start working on generating more traffic for my site so I could start monetizing it using this platform.
That would offer a much higher chance of conversions. This is a service that’s worth giving a try.
I think the best course of action is still optimizing your website or blog so that it will be as consistent and significant to most users as well as browsers. When you complete that, you’re surely good to go. This is not a one-time shot though. Being relevant also means being as fresh as possible. When you get your pace, inject Placement Ads and you’re ready for the big league.
Perfect timing! I’ve been wracking my brains on how to monetize my website. It’s been generating more traffic lately so I figured I could probably start making money from it. This seems like the perfect solution for that. I’ll go check it out.
I agree! I’m looking forward to using this service so that my travel blog could finally start generating some income.
There is definitely no magic bullet when it comes to monetizing your blog or making money off your website. IMHO, as long as it’s relevant, timely and fresh then people will surely come to you.
Speaking of monetizing a website, any updates on the monetize summit at ASW?
I noticed they don’t have that many posts yet on their blog. Did they just recently started with this service?
This is definitely an innovative advertising marketplace where web commerce enthusiasts can buy and sell placement ads on their sites and social media channels. Hope to catch more details about the company in the next few days.
Innovative, yes, but the idea is not that fresh. I believe that Placement Ads just made a diverse web of social media networks for easy access by publishers. Nothing new, really.
Is it just me or does anybody else think that the font used for the shirt is very much like Facebook’s?
Buzz, traffic and branding. Just what I am looking for as a dedicated social media publisher. Will check them out right now.
Great timing! Especially now that I have a desperate need to get viable sponsorships, compensation, and support for my craft. Thanks for the heads up, Jeremy.
It’s not just product promotion I’m after but conversions as well. This seems like a nice solution to both.
Where’s the LIKE button when you need one?
No point in wasting good money on sites that don’t get much traffic, right?
Does that shirt have a twin? I like the fresh approach approach on the design and color.
By the way, got any updates on this year’s Humongo Nation tour? I’d love to be on the 2011 list.
I just can’t believe I can buy and sell placement ads for my website/blogs as well as web 2.0 properties without hassle. Kudos, Shoemeister!
I’m still a bit neutral on this. Haven’t seen the price tag yet.
Shoe me a reliable and consistent source of advertising with which you can measure the revenue and profits that are being generated from each of your advertisements and I’ll show you Placement Ads in return.
Anything that is manageable and transparent when it comes to my passion with social media publishing is absolutely a winner in my book. Some of the ways can cost you an arm and leg, much more possibly than the profits that you would make in some cases. I think I’ve found the answer. Thanks, Shoe.
Me, too. I think I’ve just found the coolest addition to my startup campaign in the next few days. (P.S. Hope to catch another post by Lisa Baron sooner or later but sooner’s good!)
I hope to be back here with a post soon. Working hard over at Outspoken Media so I’ve locked myself in a cage for a bit. But I can’t stay away from Shoe’s crew for too long.
I’m sure this will come very handy to me when I start making money online. For now, I’m working on driving more traffic to increase it’s potential value to advertisers.
Although Placement Ads is a promising conversion tool, any money-making endeavor won’t be possible if your website or blog is not that great. Got any thoughts to add on this, Shoe?
I completely agree. In this day and age of high-speed Internet and Android phones, if you can’t get a potential user’s attention in a snap then you’ll have a tough time when it comes to conversion.
Is it just me or does anybody else think that getting users’ attentions are getting tougher and tougher these days?
In my own perspective, if I don’t find a website or blog interesting in 5 seconds then I’m gone.
That’s why unique, interesting, and relevant content always help generate traffic.
Advertisers would go for sites that have more traffic. If you’re not sure that you can guarantee that yet then it’s much better to focus on driving traffic to your own site first and establishing a solid audience before you decide to sell ad spaces.
Cool shirt you got there. By the way, how are things going at ASW? Good luck with the product launch!
Will you attend the CES event after the ASW or is it the other way around?
I followed the CES 2011 coverage by CNET. Seems like they had a successful run again this year.
I heard from a friend who went to CES that tablet PCs seemed to be the focus on this year’s event. He said there were also hints that we might be seeing an Apple iPad 2 soon.
I haven’t even bought an iPad yet and now they are hinting of a newer version? I can’t keep up with all these new toys they’re rolling out.
Awesome! Did he mention which table PCs are the leading the pack? I’m thinking of getting myself one.
Well, unlike traditional advertising networks, Placement Ads publishers have full control of ad rates and full transparency of the sponsored ad messages. This is the beginning of a great friendship if you ask me.
Try the service first before you encourage others to use it. Hypes like this tend to turn into fiascoes if not scrutinized properly.
I agree. Give it a try and then share your reviews here so we’ll get a better idea of how it really works.
True. One man’s trash is another’s treasure. Better check this out for yourself first before saying this offer is a superstar in the making.
This can help advertisers find category-specific web sites with established brands that can integrate their ad campaigns more seamlessly.
Whatever niche you aim to excel at, I guess this is now your opportunity to start the ball rolling.
Now dedicated social media publishers will become even more dedicated. Absolutely another innovation from the best e-marketing blog in the world!
It’s a great way for your target market to get frequent exposure to your brand, which in turn could increase traffic and sales.
When is R. Kelley posting another superb contribution to the number 1 web marketing blog?
Lisa Barone *still* has the number one spot in my heart…
Aw, shucks. I’m a Rebecca Kelley fan girl myself.
Justin Goff still owes us a follow-up post! LMAO
I was wondering about that, too. I thought I must’ve missed it. Looking forward to the next instalment of his awesome series.
However, it all boils down to one final question: how much?
Quite relevant. If it’s affordable for us tenderfoots then it’s a winner in my book.
Finished re-tweeting and I’m just going to share this nice piece of info on my Facebook once I finish my glass of Riesling!
Aha! So that’s why you weren’t at Club Orange for our usual round of Manhattans.
I guess this still needs a closer look. It doesn’t mean it’s popular that it’s gonna work for you.
This is the ad platform that will allow marketers to integrate social media sponsorships and direct product placements into their marketing campaigns!
I’d pick social media sponsorships over direct placements any day. Having more sponsors means there are lots of people who think you’re a rising star. What do you think, Shoe?
Nice shirt! Can I have it?
Get in line.
Certainly a must-try!
It’s time to make my blog way more interesting before I start injecting it with the magic of Placement Ads. Enough said. Time for a beer.
Earn from your passion. I just love their tagline.
A trailblazer in the making. Now, I know what to go for next as a web marketing initiative.
It is a great adsense alternative where you get to set your own rates, decide to approve or disapprove of ads, and buy placement ads to generate traffic and backlinks to your website.
I’m cool with that. It’s important that publishers have the option of approving or disapproving ads.
I love the poses you pull in these pics.
Yeah, they sure do make the free stuff he got more interesting.
Great! I’ve been looking for an opportunity like this for some time now. Thanks for the info!
When are you giving away some of your shirts, Jeremy?
Direct advertising sure is one of the of best ways to monetize a site or blog. But I’m still learning the ropes so any advice you can give as to when’s the best time to start doing it? My blog’s been up for almost a year now.
I guess its best to build on your traffic and content first. Once you’re confident enough that you have established your brand and could offer potential traffic to advertisers then that’s probably the right time to start monetizing it.
If you have an audience or traffic then go for it.
I guess there is no right time to monetize. There’s no actual day, month or year to do it. It comes as a gut feeling and you know the time has come.
The thing is, if you’re not one of the few who can harness the power of Placement Ads right from the start, then you’re bound to join the countless others in the mix. Tough to stand out there, too.
When’s your next video post going to be out, Shoe? I’m totally missing the insightful 411 on the latest e-commerce issues and trends.
I’m SO looking forward for the ASW recap posts in the next few days. Have fun, guys!
This is just another thing dedicated social media publishers should be really thankful for. The opportunities Placement Ads brings is absolutely endless. Thanks for the heads up, Jeremy.
I haven’t tried placement targeted ads before. Is it more cost-effective than SEM?
I miss reading Rebecca’s posts. When is she going to contribute another cool article, Shoe?
Buying and selling placement ads for websites, blogs, YouTube and web 2.0 properties just got even more interesting.
Nonetheless, I have one question: if all social media publishers use this, what good does it still make for them? What’s your two cents’ worth on this, Shoe?
Looks like we’re in for a more innovative social media revolution that is newbie-friendly. To possibilities! By the way, got any updates on the next Humongo Nation tour?
Finally an innovation that all of us social media publishers (and advertisers) can truly utilize for progressive reasons! Thanks very much, Jeremy.
What happened to the Marketplace posts, Shoe?
Yeah. They’ve been gone for a couple of weeks already.
2 days in a row? Placement Ads sure did dish out a lot for this one…
Patience is a virtue. This is still the tenet you should instill deep in your heart. While quickly monetizing sounds like a good idea, waiting for the right moment to pull it off can yield better results — and bigger checks, too.
Bookmarked this already for StumbleUpon, Reddit and even Facebook! Nice post, Shoe.
Now that’s one avid social media network fan!
Even if we admit it or not, launching a website or blog these days is aimed at monetizing. While some web marketers see this as an opportunity to skyrocket traffic (which means boosting sales as well), there is still no single definitive move that can guarantee the same. Best wishes from Indiana.
Nice find! This looks very promising; I think publishers can really leverage this.
Great stuff from you, man. Ive read your stuff before and youre just too fantastic. I love what youve got here, love what youre saying and the way you say it. You make it entertaining and you still manage to keep it smart. I cant wait to read more from you. This is really a great website.
