Vinay, Congratulations, you’re a very lucky person and I’m confident you’re going to have a great time.

As I read through the posts from contestants, I noticed a trend from some that suggested Shoemoney is the big winner in this contest, and while I agree their is benefit to doing this, I would disagree that he’s the big winner.

There are many struggling want-to-be entrepreneurs that entered this contest who have the perservance to stick with it, but haven’t figured it out yet. I’m admittedly one of them. Still, we are the big winners from the exposure we received just by entering the contest.

I believe everyone that submitted an entry should join me in thanking Shoemoney for having this contest. Thanks Shoemoney….

Starting out isn’t as easy as I expected. But soon enough I found my groove and starting seeing some of the results I wanted. You’re right about the good exposure this contest afforded those who gave it a shot. So congratulations to everyone especially Vinay who did an awesome job of convincing the voters and judges to pick him.

Are you going to do some live blogging at the ASW sessions you’re planning to attend? Looking forward to reading some interesting insights about the conference.

Congrats Vinay. You really blew it out with the votes. Even the great John Chow email campaign couldn’t keep you down!

Shoe: Thanks for running the contest-I saw a huge traffic spike from your site as a result, so that’s a good thing. I also got a crash course in Social Media Marketing-very good too. I am looking forward to meeting you and attending the conference (and the many parties).

Shoemoney staffers: “This guy” is named “Rob” ;o)

I’ll see all you folks there- I won a Gold pass from Mr. Chow and plan to be there Saturday-if the weather holds in Boston.

On to VEGAS!!!!!!!!

Reply

All the best to everyone who will be going at ASW! I hope I’d be able to attend the next one.

Reply

12 Danger Brown January 4, 2011 at 12:14 pm

I can’t believe that Donny didn’t win. I really thought he would have it locked with the paid John Chow post. It was fun to participate and very -interesting- to read the Electron Plumber’s research into how this contest was “won”.

I do think that voters should have had to go to Shoemoney.com to vote and that they should have at least known what they were voting for.

For all you participants, if you’ll be at ASW this week, Hit ME UP! I’ll buy you a beer.

The drinks are free in Vegas, but you’re a cheap bastard so you know that!

Reply

14 E. Langdon January 4, 2011 at 6:48 pm

LOL good one! I won’t say no to that offer though. You can just collect it in case the free drinks run out.

Reply

15 The Electron Plumber January 4, 2011 at 1:51 pm

Seriously. We now have a good idea of the number of hits you can expect for a $500 John Chow post. Vinay got a far better value from his $0.05 per vote.

Reply

16 Hotdogman January 4, 2011 at 1:58 pm

A tad over $2 per hit. That’s mortgage lead money!

Here’s Vinay’s response to that controversy http://www.abstract-living.com/bring-on-the-controversy/ It just goes to show that if you want something bad enough, doing everything you can to get it pays off. The more creative you get to turn things in your favor, the better things will play out for you.

I personal voted for Donny, but hey, u can’t really compete with what Vinay’s gonna do.

There is obviously some type of cheating going on in the vote system. If donny was promoted by John Chow, his own network, and superstar Corbin Bleu he obviously got more votes than that. Something seems fishy……..

The core of your writing whilst appearing agreeable initially, did not really settle very well with me after some time. Someplace within the sentences you actually managed to make me a believer unfortunately only for a while. I nevertheless have a problem with your jumps in assumptions and one would do nicely to fill in those gaps. If you actually can accomplish that, I will surely be amazed.
