Hi I am Jeremy Schoemaker and ShoeMoney.com is my blog. 99% of the post here are done by me but you will see others occasionally make guest posts. This blog is fun to write but for my day job I run several online companies.
Antoine Dodson, move aside! We have a new meme to take over the Interwebs! Built a giant pyramid of influence dum dum dum About what the criteria was dum dum dum Writer missed the boat dum dum dum Silicon valley freaking monkeys
I’d love to go to ASW. I hope I get to win whatever contest you have in mind for the free pass and other perks you’re giving away. Looking forward to more updates on that.
This is what I’m thinking if P. Diddy will produce a rap song using the material on this video. Enjoy! Influence so I made 1 blog post/And I sent out one email/Generated 500K clicks/I had no idea that I was gonna win but what happened was
a lot of people are marketers under me and they signed up and they send up to their list/And if you complain/You’re a d**k
Care to show some figures to back your claims, Jeremy? You know there are a lot of haters even on this site so it’s much better to give them a dose of their own medicines…
It would be great if you can write something about that project. That is, if you’re allowed to discuss some details about it. Some of us could use some tips on how to drive an impressive amount of traffic.
Fast Company’s got it dang right, Shoe. Have you checked out their feature write-up on Lady Gaga on her YouTube rise to fame or the robotic battery-switching electric taxi program being introduced to the Bay Area?
Only the big leaguers catch Fast Company’s attention, Shoe. And you, sir, are one of the best there is. Congrats on the recognition. Now where are the celebratory drinks?
Liked the video! It seems to me that you like to protect your image on the videos more than providing super helpful information. Not that I have a problem with that, but 2/5 (at least) were rebuttals to maybe what someone else had to say about you. While entertaining, I’m not so sure they are actually helpful. I love it anyway, regardless.
Influence is essentially about compelling people to some action. It does seem like being named most influential is well deserved judging by the outcome of the project.
Oh yeah, i’m not denying that anyone arguing about why he won the competition is absolutely retarded. I’m just saying i’m not sure why Shoemoney feels the need to make rebuttals all the time. I would think he would want to do something else with these videos. However, i’m sure it has increased his exposure some. I saw people talking about how barman was called out at WF and people were talking about it like crazy, maybe that’s more helpful in his book than creating a helpful video that gets retweeted about 20 times.
I agree. It’s much better to spend a few precious minutes sharing useful tips rather than waste them discussing something that your critics wouldn’t believe anyway.
You’re like the Dr. Seuss of web marketing rap, Shoe! Just look at these crazy rhymes: built a giant pyramid of influence/about what the criteria was/writer missed the boat/silicon valley freakin’ monkeys
Now this calls for a celebration! Who wants to accompany me for a round of brewskies at Orange in a few minutes. (This is just one of the many reasons why I am a loyal Shoemoney fan for three straight years.)
With a bit of hard work and inspiration, we can also reach our web marketing goals like Shoe did. But for now, it’s best to stick with the master for some free helpful tips and pointers.
Calling to mind one of my most favorites Internet memes, when they see you rolling, they hating. How about using that as the official Shoemoney tagline, buddy? LOL
Whoever it is that you’ll end up sponsoring to Affiliate Summit is going to be the luckiest person ever. I have a feeling that it’s going to be me. LOL
Jeremy you are right you crushed it and according to rules of FastCompany but also according to rules of common sense you did it.
I think that TC article is not about you so much. There are some real dumb-asses in the first row that brutally spammed craigslists, Facebook, twitter or did some nasty things to automatically trigger ‘influence’ without user decision (but hey FastCompany did not make it smart enough two step action-confirmation process with session data etc.) and affiliates/webmasters simply crushed them down… and also I could legally buy 500,000 clicks from Facebook for few hundreds of bucks sending people to misleading ad.
You did it simply awesome and more than that you learned lesson to all of us on the list. You gave us advice to participate ‘we are in this together – marketing weapon’ , you made direct call to action, you explained benefits telling that everybody who signs up may say ‘I am among the most influential people in the Internet according to FastCompany (association and endorsement)’ . Your email that you have sent to the list should be put in TC article and explain people how powerful marketing weapon arsenal you used to hit the top of the list in 3 days even if contest was open for month and a half and it was last minute to jump in.
I solute to your speech and calling them ‘Silicon Valley dick-heads’ (or something like that).
I just posted on Alexia’s blog. I found it important to let her know that you do have influence, after all I had no idea who she was before you talked about her.
I’m not sure the post was worth my time, but hopefully it will “influence” some of her readers.
I always love when you address the haters. I could watch a show on that alone, haha. I heard about that article and wondered what you would have to say about it.
Great list. I love lists.A disadvantage tough is that I like to know who will be the most important in the future. The Next Web Awards has a category called Web Celeb. The Awards will be handed out to services or people based on what people believe will be their future accomplishments. That should be cool!
Outstanding – I ought to certainly pronounce, impressed with your site. I had no difficulty navigating by indicates all the tabs also as linked info ended up being genuinely simple to accomplish to accessibility. I lately discovered what I hoped for ahead of you understand it whatsoever.

Glad to see your article, very good, very grateful.
Congratulations! You totally deserve that win.

Refreshing and entertaining. ShoeMoney ?s FTW!
haha, loved your answer!

Spoken like a true rhymer from the Bronx!
Great post! I’m excited to attend your session at ASW. See you there!
And most of us probably didn’t even notice that it was for a contest. Good Work
Awesome post, keep it up great work.
This is definitely one of the most in-your-face video posts I’ve ever seen. Best wishes from Colorado.
Yea exactly. That post came right after a discussion of social proof. It all worked out brilliantly.
Absolutely a winner in my book. Kudos for the superb post, Jeremy.
I think the numbers speak for itself. Not everyone can generate 500K clicks via 1 blog post and 1 email made.
Care to show some figures to back your claims, Jeremy? You know there are a lot of haters even on this site so it’s much better to give them a dose of their own medicines…
Great suggestion. When they the numbers, they will definitely shut their pie holes and start following you, Shoe. ROFL
We surely have feisty commentators out here, buddy!

Where’s the LIKE button when you need one?
I’d like to become a fan of this uber cool post!
Definitely you are one of the most influential person on the web
So the bottom line is the web is just like junior high school where there’s a popularity contest? Didn’t see that coming.
Jeremy, I am just wondering why I haven’t seen Afro-Americans getting featured on your site.
Well said Jeremy! Congratulations on the award and ignore the haters.
I am definitely re-tweeting this as usual. Haters — eat your hearts out!
That’s awesome! Congratulations! And I sincerely hope you could share to us a few tricks on how you worked on the project.
Congratulations on the award, love how you use video here in the post.
See you in Vegas next month!
Just asking, Shoe. Does Fast Company have an affiliate marketing marketing relationship with you?
Oops. Didn’t read my draft comment before submitting it. Sorry for the “marketing” fiasco, Jeremy.
Don’t you worry a bit, honey. Shoe still loves you. <3
Congratulations! Kudos and more power to you!
You won’t be on Fast Company’s list if you’re not one of the best of the best. Congratulations, Shoe. Keep up the good work.
How about appearing on Hustler, Shoe, so I can finally tell my wife I buy them for the articles? *wink*
Touche!
Surely the number one reason why I check out your blog daily while sipping on Riesling and munching on a baguette. Life is great!

Lol you should know that Jeremy is notoriously known for rebuttals in public, been doing that previously many times
Anyway Shoe, congratulations on your win!
Noticed that too. But the nature of the questions make the rebuttals you’re referring to necessary.
Influence is essentially about compelling people to some action. It does seem like being named most influential is well deserved judging by the outcome of the project.
Good point. Not many people have that skill.

He doesn’t sound like a guy who cares about his rep.
I agree. It’s much better to spend a few precious minutes sharing useful tips rather than waste them discussing something that your critics wouldn’t believe anyway.
silicon valley monkeys is going to be next website hehehe
it just rolls of your tongues so nice
You’re like the Dr. Seuss of web marketing rap, Shoe! Just look at these crazy rhymes: built a giant pyramid of influence/about what the criteria was/writer missed the boat/silicon valley freakin’ monkeys
He does have a way with words. I wonder what those “monkeys” have to say about that.
Now now let’s be more discreet or we’ll be tagged as racist…
I can’t wait to hear more about the free ASW pass you’re giving away. It would really be great to win that one.
Now this calls for a celebration! Who wants to accompany me for a round of brewskies at Orange in a few minutes. (This is just one of the many reasons why I am a loyal Shoemoney fan for three straight years.)
Great video! I wish I could drive even just half of the clicks you’ve generated.
LOL
I hope you can talk more about how you managed to drive hundreds of thousands of traffic doing what you did.
Can you provide more details on how you set up your mailing list, Jeremy? I need to get more traffic for my online flower shop. Thanks in advance.
I’ve recently started monetizing my travel blog. I really could use a few tricks to help me generate more traffic to the site.
Just one quick query: where’s Yoda?
Whoever it is that you’ll end up sponsoring to Affiliate Summit is going to be the luckiest person ever. I have a feeling that it’s going to be me. LOL
Get in line. That free pass has my name on it already.
We all know I AM the most die-hard Shoemoney fan here and I’m going to get that spot!
Well, may the best ShoeMoney reader win!
One of the best freebies I’ve heard. I’m going to win that one.
One of the best freebies I’ve heard. I’m going to win that slot.
Good luck with the charity auction. I’m sure you’ll be able to help a lot of breast cancer patients with the money you get from it.
I haven’t read the article. Did the writer mention why you have no actual influence?
You can check it out here http://techcrunch.com/2010/10/20/fast-company-influence-project-proves-online-influencers-have-no-actual-influence/
Nice to hear about this project. Hope you get a lot of support for that.
I wouldn’t have known you were named most influential if not for this video. Hope to hear more of the story behind that.
Yeah, me too. I read the TC article. Obviously, the writer’s not a big fan of his.
The price of success. There’s just no way you can please everybody.
Is it just or does anybody else think this is the best Shoemoney video post of 2010?
I’m surprised that you didn’t write about it. Was it because of what some of your haters are saying?
Glad to hear about the free pass. When are you going to post the details?
“it’s sending 4 emails and creating 200K commissions forme that is influence”
Very well said.
How much is the ticket to ASW?
Pricing: Diamond Pass ($2,249), Platinum Pass ($1249), Gold Pass ($549), Silver Pass ($249)

I’ve been trying to build my mailing list for some time now. Do you have any advice to share on that?

Hey Shoe
Its always funny to watch you talking about all suckers out there! Keep it going mate.
love the honesty ; ) congrats man
Thanks to Jeremy I was able to get on the 5th row. Hey, not too bad considering I was VERY late to the party. You def. influenced me. Keep it up!
