You got that right! I’ve found a lot of useful resources here since I started following a few months back.

Hoping to catch a few more informative posts about the SBA program you’ve included here, Jeremy. I really need a bit of capital to get my start-up online hobby shop off the ground and I think joining a peer-to-peer lending system just might do the trick. Regards from Indiana.

I’ve been thinking of putting up a Facebook fan page for my site. I thought generating the number of likes would be a problem. This listing most probably have solved my main problem. And with the ShoeMoney discount, I’ll be getting 1K likes at great value.

I have one but it still isn’t generating traffic. It’s nice to know there’s a service I could avail without spending much. Until when is the ShoeMoney discount valid?

I’ve come across an ezine article that says if a website has had growing profits for 3 years and has a fantastic domain name and high growth potential, then it may sell for much more than 2 years profit. Follow-up question: How do website brokers actually appraise a site?

8 RedBlack88 September 26, 2010 at 6:51 pm

There are plenty of strategies to generate and maintain traffic via a Facebook fan page. $.06-.08/fan is a good deal. However, I think you also need to work on getting the most out of the community you manage to create by making a genuine and useful contribution to the chatter. There’s always the possibility you could lose your fans with too much self-serving comments.

Reply

9 melg September 26, 2010 at 7:01 pm

I couldn’t have said it better. I can’t count the number of times I’ve “unliked” fan pages because of endless self-serving links and comments.

Any way you look at it, you can’t deny the fact that business is business and the every man for himself rule is put into play almost always. Self-serving comments are just crumbs of the whole pie…

My site’s not earning more than $50K but my friend’s does. I think he’ll be interested to sell one of the many he’s currently running.

FB fan pages are so common these days that people don’t have the slightest inkling of how to properly use them anymore. Are you going to use this just for building a brand? Do you want your fan page to drive traffic back to your website to help generate sales or opt-ins? Great tips on using grow Fan, too.

I read somewhere that the five (5) cardinal rules of building a massive Facebook fan page are: 1. Entice people to become a fan 2. Keep the content coming 3. Create a personal connection 4. Interaction is key 5. Sneak Peek. What do you think, Shoe?

Their database contains only e-commerce keywords related to goods and services widely used today. Apart from eliminating the clutter of unrelated searches for information and other popular topics, having 98% pure keywords up your sleeve makes web marketing an even more exciting journey.

I’m planning to apply for a loan from the bank. I was not exactly looking forward to the process. I still remember how tedious it was the first time. I’m glad I stumbled into the peer-to-peer lending on the list. For once, I’d like to do away with the tons of paperwork involved.

You’ll find P2P lending a lot easier. I recently applied for a $10K loan and everything was fairly easy. I was able to launch my online business earlier than I anticipated.

Interesting post about peer-to-peer lending, Shoe. I guess it is a great alternative to traditional lending. I still think that it is better to save up for big purchases, and have a solid emergency fund available for true emergencies. This way, you are never forced into a borrowing situation. Nonetheless, they don’t seem to have links in Texas. Any comments on this?

Someone recently recommended HostNine Reseller Hosting platform to me. He said that it enabled him to host his websites all around the world and in a good number of servers. I guess quantity merits more oomph than quality in the current social media marketing setting. While there may still be loyal patrons out there rooting for your business or product, there are also bots and illegitimate Facebook accounts thrown in the mix that muddle things up.

Reply

33 Robin Sterling September 26, 2010 at 7:31 pm

So much for social media marketing. Enterprising web-based con artists are exploiting every available niche and cranny they can get into. From Twitter to Facebook, they are just all over the Internet.

Reply

34 Laney Pitt September 26, 2010 at 9:17 pm

That’s why the gradual evolution of the Internet as an open information source into a tightly-centralized directory of businesses and resources is a sign of continuous progression. So don’t feel incensed the next time you go through a lot of security checks when you access your Facebook page. At least you’re guaranteed that unscrupulous individuals won’t be getting their hands on your product’s or brand’s 411 anytime soon.

35 WhoisDoyle September 26, 2010 at 6:55 pm

For borrowers, the disadvantages are borrowing from the unknown and an unregulated institution. You don’t get the stability of borrowing from a financial institution (though it’s fairly easy to argue that Lending Club and its investors are stable), and despite what Lending Club boasts, there is a possibility you will find higher interest rates on the loans than a local credit union personal loan. But again, perhaps you wouldn’t even have been able to get this loan without Lending Club in the first place.

Reply

36 PattyT12 September 26, 2010 at 7:10 pm

Major lesson learned from my first attempt to apply for a loan with another peer-to-peer lending program was to read the fine print thoroughly. I thought I was getting an 8% interest rate, which was pretty much the ceiling for me. I was surprised to find out later that I was actually paying 10%. Good thing I was able to complete my payments in less than a year.

Reply

37 Bowie September 26, 2010 at 8:55 pm

There’s always that risk, yes. The only way around that is to do your research first and make a shortlist of reputable P2P lending programs/systems before applying for that needed loan.

I think a Facebook fan page is a great PR tool/platform. A lot of successful fan pages I’ve seen do away with hard selling and use the platform to actually provide relevant and useful content.

39 medomoc September 26, 2010 at 7:42 pm

To take the discussion up a notch, let me just ask what really makes a Facebook fan page truly successful? Is it the number of fans alone? Is it the number of traffic generated by the fans? Kindly provide additional details on this one, Shoe, since I am really interested to give Grow Fan a go sooner or later.

User engagement is a big factor in generating leads. Basically works in both offline and online marketing or PR strategies. The more customer/user engagement there is, the more chances of utilizing word of mouth to crunch more leads.

Reply

41 thoushallpass September 26, 2010 at 9:46 pm

This is especially true in terms of keeping users engaged. Look at Facebook now. It is so interactive that it has managed to hold on as the most popular social networking site longer than its predecessors. Moreover, its fan pages are just what you need to take web business up a whole new level. With a strong fan page as the foundation for your business in social marketing you will be in position to grow your sales. It is important to be careful when doing this as to not turn away your fans (after all, even the biggest rockers give their fans a show for the price of a ticket or two).

Reply

42 Sanjay September 26, 2010 at 9:21 pm

It’s rare to find a site now that’s not using social media for self-promotion. And since there’s nothing bigger than FB right now, it would be a shame to waste the opportunity available in that platform. Adding FB like scripts and creating fan pages is now a given for every site that needs to be promoted.

Reply

43 Vince September 26, 2010 at 9:49 pm

But with so many fan pages vying for traffic, you’ll need all the strategies and tools you can access to get ahead of the pack.

44 spameater September 26, 2010 at 7:13 pm

Just one quick query to finally clear up this issue: Doesn’t Facebook have a user-regulation system that blocks suspicious users? I mean look at the site now. It is gradually transforming into MySpace and Friendster combined with a bit of 4chan for kicks…

Reply

45 Kyle September 26, 2010 at 7:37 pm

It does have one. But there’s just people who are good at circumventing systems, exploiting loopholes, or finding workarounds.

Reply

46 WanderingMommy September 26, 2010 at 8:00 pm

I think the fact that Facebook offers a lot of gaming options for users is just one of the reasons why it is constantly infiltrated by suspicious accounts. Whether you’re hooked on Mafia Wars or Zynga Poker, people just can’t avoid creating sham accounts just to keep their gaming privileges up and running.

Should you invest with Lending Club or is it too risky? I am not downplaying the benefits I can get from them but with all the black hat operations moving in and out of the web in the present, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

If you have a product that has promising nationwide appeal and you want to grow the power of your brand, then having a rich fan page environment is the way to go. This doesn’t call for the basic variety that only has a picture of your product on the upper left corner but a complete customized page. By the way, thanks for posting the Shoemoney discounts, too.

Add thousands of real Facebook fans to your Facebook fan page.
Target your fans by country. No fake profiles, and no bots.
Our prices are as cheap as $.06 per fan (depending on which package you choose).
Buy quality fans and see results FAST!
