What We Can Take Away From Tiger Woods Press Conference

by Jeremy Schoemaker on February 25, 2010 · 40 comments

I thought Tiger Woods’ press conference last week, while well done, was way too late. The story was just starting to die.

But I did have a really good take-a-way quote out of the press conference. He said:

It’s not what you achieve in life that matters, it’s what you overcome

Great quote. In the affiliate world I can’t tell you how many times I have met “Super Affiliates” only later to find out they come from a very rich family and at best have been breaking even or maybe making a little bit of cash.

I mean really? This is your big achievement?

This week I heard from 5 different ShoeMoney System students who are on pace to make several hundred dollars in only their first month. All of them were just about on the verge of bankruptcy.

I know maybe 500 to a thousand dollars a month is not going to impress very many people but getting to know them and hearing their personal stories and seeing them kick ass and overcoming is a lot more impressive to me then someone who was born with a silver spoon in their mouth coasting through life on mommy and daddies fortunes.

I thought that was a good quote from his press conference, but I felt most of what he said contradictory. He wants to follow his Buddhist teachings more…ok, maybe you should start by not being materialistic ie. sell your XX million dollar home (which is in the same neighborhood as Shaq and possibly the most expensive piece of residential real estate in Florida.

Honestly, if I was him, I wouldn’t have said anything at all. I would have just started to play again with no explanation.

I would love to know what those Shoemoney System users were doing – i presume ebay related. Still waiting for the good stuff in my opinion.

Good quote from Tiger. It’s true, the world loves an underdog story. And no one likes trustefarians.

Speaking of underdogs, I feel like I’m the underdog in the Shoemoney System. There are students making several hundred dollars already?

What am I missing? The content’s been decent for a noob like myself, but I have yet to see anything that would lend itself to earning several hundred dollars without prior knowledge in the ways of making money online.

I’m not expecting instant riches, or overnight success with the system, but I am seriously at a loss when I think of what I could be doing better to have made several hundred dollars in the first month. I see the potential, but these must be some sharp students!

For the record, yes I am a whiner, and no I will not “suck it.”

I am totally with you on this J – nothing so far on the Shoemoney System other than the total basics setting up accounts etc. The eBayexample is great but NOT applicable in every market! Not everyone has those type of price differences.

I think this ties in nicely to many people for one thing, what a great feeling to overcome something that for many had it handed to them. Now, that isn’t to say that at one point the wealthy family was’t poor. I actually read your “about” me page yesterday and would say this hits home for you in a way from going to Sears, which lets face it, probably isn’t that rewarding, to working your way up and educating yourself and absorbing knowledge from all around you, to where you are now which is educating others, and as well helping them to polish that spoon up. We all should take time and dissect this quote and throw it in our portfolio to live by.

I’d be interested to know which videos helped them rake in a couple of hundred dollars? The only videos that have involved practical tips on making money so far have been the arbing ones and they’ve only been there a week or so. If Jamie “hit it out of the park” with $100 on her first deal then 5 students all nailing a couple of hundred dollars plus in the a week or so is pretty good going.

If it’s that easy maybe I need to move somewhere that has better e-bay arbing opportunites! :)

Perhaps they have actively started campaigning with Azgoogle Paul. I wish I could but don’t have the experience yet.
Good luck to them though, it’s great to see.

Any success should be celebrated, and the fact that it’s a fellow shoemoney system user is FANTASTIC news!.
I look forward to joining them in a few months, because to me $500 – $1000 per month is colossal!
I will succeed, and I’m starting from nothing, with no financial backup. It’s my time now.
I started out with nothing, and I’ve got most of it left!!!

Tiger Woods has undoubted ability. His quote is very good, but as golf, like so many other disciplines in life is probably 80% in the head, it will be interesting to see if he can overcome this current situation, and achieve again.

Jeremy’s dad has been a good business man. Jeremy himself managed to screw up his finances to absolute zero.

This is a must read in the shoemoney story!

Like others at first I thought the content in the ShoeMoney System was a little basic and elementary. But I followed the core training. Then bam once we got into the meat of it I understood why you had us go through that stuff.

I just did my first arbitrage play and made $45 profit using your method. It has not made me rich over night but I am so excited at the possibilities. I don’t want to get to excited but it looks like this week I could increase that by 10x.

Thanks for making such a easy to follow program!

Success is success.

Its does not matter whether its 500 $$ success or 500 million $$$ success.

You are from a middle class family and you saw the every situation. So even if you are earning 500 from your few months training than this is the positive sign and you never know those 500 can turn into millions.

So just enjoy your success and keep try to make it big and big and big.

Whilst the quote you plucked from it was good, the whole thing was so maticulously scripted it sounded not real or true….

Guy should of spoke from the heart!

Wish I was a shoemoney student!

I’m really interested to see if he can play golf after all of this. I’m also interested to see what his sponsors do.

Regarding the Shoemoney System, I’m glad to hear people are making their money back so soon. My blog has been a fairly good place to discuss successes and failures of it. I started off with a negative review, but it gets better every time Iook back at it.

I watch Tiger’s press conf. If he’s been going through rehab, this may be one of the steps he needs to complete. I believe the above quote is very true. Here’s another: “Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful”

I’m just now learning how to make 500-1000 a month blogging, so I believe it IS quite an achievement. How many people never make ANY money online? I agree–I’m more impressed seeing someone start from scratch.

What to take away from the tiger woods incident:

If you’re the top money making athlete in the world, DON’T GET MARRIED.

That guy can get more ass than a toilet seat; his only mistake was getting married.

It goes to show that the real achievement of a successful individual, is a person starting from absolutely nothing to become something. The measure begins from the starting point that goes up to the peak of the career, and sustain it.

$500-$1000 a month is enough to totally change your life. Even if you were to just save that, not reinvest it in your business, you can end up with hundreds of thousands of dollars in retirement.

Lets be honest, the word Arbitrage is just a technical word for flipping. Nothing new to anyone. But I will still give credit to people that can flip things on ebay and make a couple hundred bucks a week or month. It takes a lot of research. Making that first $20 a month is the hard part. Hopefully after you do that, the income will just grow.

I love this post because I told my wife something similar awhile back. If I wrote a book about my life, it would be a best seller. That is how I always looked at my life. I never made excuses about shit, just kept it moving. I told her nobody wants to read a book about a rich kid that turned out to be a rich man; not enough juice in that story. Look at TV! We all love reality shows with a lot of drama. If it’s juicy, we want to hear it, watch it, read it, and talk about it to death.

I admire Woods courage to face the people and ask for forgiveness. People just need to respect him despite his weaknesses and learn to put thing behind and move on.

I love Tiger as a golfer but my perception of him as a person has totally changed. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who feels like this.

As far as his apology, it just did not sound believable to me. Sure, he had his moments where he seemed to get choked up but it just seemed to rehearse. I did not buy it at all.

I heard he is now out of rehab and back to getting in shape for golf. Just like Neil said, golf is mostly a mental game and only time will tell how he will be able to handle himself once he reemerges from hiding.

That statement is very true thats what life is all about taking the good with the bad with all of lifes ups and downs. Your not living if your not overcoming adversity. Tiger summed it up pretty well. Im glad your students are seeing success. I bet their happy they have a great teacher. Great post!

Just a question: do you get a lot of college students/young people that sign up for your ShoeMoney system? Do you need to have experience to earn money through ShoeMoney? I’m kind of interested, but I’m still in school.
