A couple months ago we were getting about 10-20 solicitations a day from people wanting us to talk about their products… or their product for sale… or whatever.
It seemed logical to give these people an outlet where they could get exposure on ShoeMoney.com & we could raise a decent amount for charity.
So we started the ShoeMoney Marketplace.
I have been pretty surprised by the response. We have been getting an average of about 15 listings a week or so.
People had some requests… They were concerned we were not using SSL for the CC transactions… they wanted to be able to use PayPal… and they wanted to be able to put (live) links to the website.
So we just changed all of the above. We now use PayPal as the payment processor and allow 1 no followed link.
Please keep the suggestions coming…. and of course the listings

No SSL? Were you even allowed to process CC nrs that way?
Anyway, some good changes. Keep it up!
Yeah, what payment gateway would process CC’s without SSL?
Or you were having people enter their CC info and then processing the payment through a virtual terminal. CC info transmitted in the clear. Storing of customer credit card info. Hmm, all sorts of issues.
I think in 10 years we are going to look back and be amazed at the start of this, when we see what it becomes.
With all the traffic this site gets, I predict it will expand and expand.
Great idea!
By the by, go to keegandnick.wordpress.com
I’ves used a couple of services that advertised themselves through the marketplace and they have been spot on so far.
Yes I submitted some suggestions… really, accepting credit cards on a non-secure page, what on earth were you thinking Jeremy? Do your other sites accept credit cards in such an irresponsible way? You’ve mentioned many times that you used to work with banking security, so you certainly know better than to be getting card numbers over a non-secure connection.
Next problem – listing spam! Yes I have a particular problem with this because I happened to submit my listing at the exact same time as the LogoMyWay marketplace spammer. I can understand somebody purchasing multiple listings, but these titles are obviously spam (even if they did pay for each listing) :
# LogoMyWay.com – Hot Girls Love Jeremy
# LogoMyWay.com – Ill Be Back
# LogoMyWay.com – Hi Jeremy
# LogoMyWay.com – This Is FUN
# LogoMyWay.com – Better Quality Than Everyone
# LogoMyWay.com – All Custom Logo Designs
# LogoMyWay.com – Its All About Quality
# LogoMyWay.com Choose from 70-400 custom logo designs
# http://www.SubmitLinksFree.com Directory for Website Promotion
# LogoMyWay.com Over 4000 Logo Designers
OK I’m complaining because my listing (which you can see 2nd from the end) got almost instantly kicked from the sidebar due to some idiot purchasing listings with titles like “Hi Jeremy” “This is FUN” “I’ll be back”. But since Jeremy doesn’t even care about credit card security for marketplace clients, why care about spam, so long as they pay, right?
I just want to mention that I did NOT put an active link to my site in the comment above. My listing started with www. and so this blog auto-linked it, I did not know that was going to happen and it was not intentional – I wasn’t trying to get a link (hopefully a mod can remove the link so I don’t look like a comment spammer!)
you made a point; dont blame you for this. The mod really needs to work this out.
PS: Beside dominating the list, LogoMyWay is doing a good deed by donating to the charity.
eh
I don’t fell LogoMyWay was doing a nice deed by donating to charity (since that was just a bi-product of spamming their ad). They were trying to exploit the marketplace. Sure they asked Jeremey first which he allowed it. But I think they should not have wen’t ahead and try to do what they did. Instead should have urged the system be fixed like a good hacker.
lol..who cares you idiot, stop your whining. It goes to a good cause, who cares if your little site was pushed off the list it’s not like anyone here is going to really use your directory..”whaa! whaa! my site was pushed off” how about “Help feed the hungry”. Idiot!
gr8 post shoe. That’s interesting the market place changes.
I’d have to agree. Especially the live link. I have visited a couple of times and since I am pretty lazy – I didn’t like the extra effort of copy and paste!
What about a shoemoney forum?
I would definitely join up for something like that.
Its funny how someone with the name “submit links free” doesn’t want to look like a spammer!
If you really didn’t want to look like a spammer, go find your birth certificate and start using the name thats on it if you’re going to link…
Thanks for the comment, well that is the exact domain name of my site so I wasn’t just inserting keywords, but I take your point. Anyway I’m not sure if you were commenting on my first or second comment, because my second comment DID look like spam because it appeared BEFORE my first comment, because my first comment was sitting in a moderation queue for a long while – and that really did make my second comment look like spam. But my comment about not wanting to look like spam had nothing to do with name at the top of the comment, I was referring to my actual first comment, since this blog unexpectedly changed the text of my comment, adding an http:// (I didn’t type that) and made the link to my site clickable, and that happened because I copy-pasted the exact marketplace listing titles and my listing just happened to include a “www.” which seems to have activated this blog’s auto-linking function… And that was what I was saying was not spam. Not my name, which according to my birth certificate is surely “Submit Links Free”.
I know if I will digg than I will know more about this.
But to save my time one question – Is it free of cost ?
If nope than I think you should keep it free of cost for few months.
Where can i find the real web links site
I just wanted to say nice blog! I’ve enjoyed reading here.
