Chris Hedgecock Puts Zintext For Sale

by Jeremy Schoemaker on January 5, 2010 · 23 comments

I noticed a familiar listing on the ShoeMoney Marketplace this morning. Chris “emphasis” Hedgecock has decided to sell his new startup Zintext. Zintext is kind of like AuctionAds but instead of display advertising it finds keywords in your posts and links them to eBay auctions. Then if someone completes the action you get paid. Shazam!

Its a really slick service and Chris has already got the company profitable without any marketing. Zintext is also one of a couple companies eBay is allowing to act as a 3rd tier network.

Chris is asking $20,000.00 for the site and all intellectual property. Sounds like a steal for the right motivated person.

It would be something I would run with in a minute if it wasn’t for my non compete from the AuctionAds Sale.

Chris can be reached via email – chris at knofun.com

As a certified consultant for PCLaw™, Time Matters® and Amicus Attorney law firm practice management software I have often worked with firms who use Tabs3 software from Software Technology Inc. They are in Lincoln. Have you ever worked with them?

If my memory is right, Zintext was also the same backend that powered the PepperJam intext links to ePN.

Great service and always seemed much faster than normal intext ads.

Yep, we partnered with them until they dissolved their business relationship with eBay.

If it is such a great deal, why is he selling it ?.

To really compete with the big boys isnt just about the product. You need the funding to take it to the next level.

Man…that is a really sweet deal. I think someone who knows the game will see that right away… I would expect that to sell rather quickly. If I was sitting on an extra 20, I would be all over it.

Have time & motivation, I am 20 which inherently means that I do not have 20k ;)

That sounds like a truly great idea, I have seen a recent trend with these adshare plugins on Wordpress but this one actually sounds like it would be worth the pay cut.

Hopefully it goes to somebody that has the drive to push it (and a little php/JS knowledge so that they don’t have to outsource all the support).

To be completely honest the fact that Jeremy has put this on his blog should make it well worth the money considering it seems to be a good idea (Most people that read this blog don’t post comments, but I am sure other people have taken a peek at this plugin as a result).

It fits the criteria:

-Fills a necessary niche
-People will want to use it
-Proven to be profitable
-HUGE market (blogosphere)
-Right price.

Best of luck to whoever grabs this up!

20000 is sweet.. you can see some terrible business models selling for much higher… besides the IP alone might’ve cost half the price he’s asking…

So any reason why he is going to sell this one.

Any proper reason … obviously every buyer would love to hear it first before they proceed to buying transaction.

is there just one line of code behind Zintext?

How is it making any money, I am totally baffled, and the website lacks the information.

Seems like an interesting idea..

Seems a little premature to sell. Good luck.

When I first read this post I thought it was an awesome idea, which I still think so.

I downloaded the Wordpress plugin in 1 site and I swear I have made few bucks hours after installing it.

I was currently using the EPN and I was generating 0.50- 1.50 each day and once I installed the plugin I double my profits and the best part I didn’t have to do much.

I will show you my EPN stats to prove it. If I had 20K I will so buy this or if I could make payments.

Great idea, im using it on a few forums and making money from otherwise dead advertising space. One big bad issue, it doesnt seem to work in Internet Explorer, tried on 3x machines. That needs fixing.
