by Jeremy Schoemaker on January 4, 2010 · 25 comments

With 50% of the total votes Lyndon Reid is headed to Affiliate Summit West!

Congratulations Lyndon!

Lyndon will receive a Platinum Affiliate Summit pass, 3 nights hotel, and up to $500 airfare reimbursement.

Lyndon also opted to “gamble” so he will receive $2,000.00 cash to gamble on his choice of 1 hand of black jack or 1 spin of roulette betting red/black.

What do you think he will choose? Do you have any advice for him?

Special thanks to our sponsors Affiliate Summit (covered hotel+pass) and AzoogleAds (covered the 2,000.00 cash prize).

Good stuff! Gratz Lyndon.

Shoe, could it be worth linking to Lyndon’s blog, or at least to the blog post he wrote as part of the competition?

Congrats!

You have to go blackjack for sure.

Red or black is 50/50 (unless you get screwed with green), at a 1:1 payout.

I forget what blackjack odds were, but you get the shot of a blackjack to make your 2,000 = 3,000 = $5,000 net takaway doe for you to spend.

Good luck =)

Congrats Lyndon! I’m looking forward to seeing you at ASW- Can’t believe it’s been almost a year since SXSW.

I’d go with roulette, but I’m a terrible blackjack player. Good luck and go for red :)

Lyndon,

You have 2 choices:
1. Take $1000
2. Lay down $2k on the roulette wheel

The expected value of option 1 is $1000.

With option 2, let’s say you put $2000 on black. There’s a 47.37% chance you will double your money and win a total of $4000. There’s a 52.63% chance you will lose and walk away with $0. The expected value of option 2 is ($4000 * .4737) + ($0 * .5263) = $1894.80. Mathematically, option 2 is a much, much better choice.

congrats.

i would say bet on red or black in roulette way better odds than a single hand of black jack in my opinion.

No skill involved just let fate decide

knofun is a professional blackjack consultant. I say hire him to advise you on the fly during the hand.
