Jeremy:
I have read your blog for a long time and I am a big fan of yours. You have great insight on this industry and I more educated because of your blog.
However, I cannot understand how a free market guy like you, who has concerns about the size of our government and the massive federal deficit, can then state in the next sentence that you support President Obama.
Let me ask you this: If you hired someone to run your company and then he (or she) spent the first year incurring so much debt that he put your business on a path toward bankruptcy, would you continue to support him? I highly doubt it.
As for the 10.2% unemployment, it will remain that high as long as federal spending is out of control. Our economy will not get back to 5% unemployment and a consistent 3% to 4% growth in GNP until the politicians in Washington stop spending the American taxpayer’s money like they are drunken sailors on a coke binge.
Jeremy, in your video you stated (and I’m paraphrasing): “Massive government spending and stimulus programs have been tried over and over again . . . and they have never worked.” I could not agree with you more.

“stimulating the economy” ? ….More like you were “stimulating” jamie there
November 23, 2009 at 10:59 am
Wicked fire is a joke. Their founder, I guess, Jon seems to be bipolar and likes to throw hissy fits from time to time. The rest of the members are like 11 year olds to think that you’re automatically “cool” and “funny” if you can throw a lot of swears into a sentence.
I think that’s basically the only reason people people post there…”I can swear? cool! f this and that! we’re the f-in wicked fire forums…we’re the bad boys of the f-in affiliate marketing world!!!” (as they sip frapachinos from starbucks)

Good Q&A session!
I just want to chime in on the FTC thing since I wrote about the myths of FTC guidelines last week on my site. The whole thing is so overblown. Bottom line: just disclose you’re getting something in return and don’t lie about the review. Easy as pie.
November 23, 2009 at 3:12 am
The blog is absolutely fantastic! Lots of great information and inspiration in this article, both of which we all need! Thanks

November 21, 2009 at 11:05 am
Nice Q&A.
With regards to the economics, many countries start off with Upper/Rich and Poor Classes. The Middle Class then tends to develop later on, as is happening in India and China now (UK: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/british/victorians/middle_classes_01.shtml, Asia: http://www.dbresearch.com/PROD/CIB_INTERNET_EN-PROD/PROD0000000000245808.PDF). As Mexico develops it will also see a rise of a Middle Class.
Although I agree that in the West the Middle Classes are being squeezed, I don’t think it will revert back to just Rich and Poor Classes.
Also, the USA has more income inequality than the UK. Since 2000 income inequality has been falling in the UK while it has been rising in the USA (USA: http://www.oecd.org/dataoecd/47/2/41528678.pdf, UK: http://www.oecd.org/dataoecd/47/22/41528630.pdf, full report: http://www.oecd.org/els/social/inequality).
Thanks again for a great blog.
November 22, 2009 at 6:07 pm
I was thinking about what the UK’s perception is after Jeremy’s comments.
I think the employee said Jeremy pants at the end too but the video was conveniently cut short.
Perhaps that employee could use some discipline Jeremy

Hey Shoe,
Whats the latest with Dennis Yu?
Got the feeling there may have been more to come not just from you, but others also who have been burned by this clown.
Peace

November 21, 2009 at 7:22 am
I bet Techcrunch is a little upset with you. Still don’t blame you, if someone started going crazy on me, I’d probably hit ‘em back. And a bouncer extorting you for money? Wow, that’s nuts!
What you said about the FTC regulations was DEAD ON, totally agree with it! No one should have deceptive claims in my personal opinion but the FTC can’t control all of it and like you said, acting like they can take care of all of it and the consumer doesn’t even have to think.
I mean, there’s what…millions and millions of those types of sites? I’m always for thinking for yourself.
November 28, 2009 at 2:34 am
I don’t understand why people are being so hard on WickedFire – ha, I said “hardon”
November 21, 2009 at 2:21 am
Unique Q and A.. I feel your take on the FTC regulations is interesting. I mean you’re right, the responsibility has to be really still on the consumers.
Also liked your opinion on wickedfire forums.. you can call them “keyboard gangsters” lols..
November 21, 2009 at 3:35 pm
They have their own pattern and own way to handle things. Not like warrior or DP.

This is my first visit here, but I understand Jeremy is a very successful entrepreneur in a very competitive niche – making money online.
I was somewhat taken aback by your concerns regarding government efforts to protect us from ourselves by the FTC . If anything, they should spend 6 months investigating people that really believe some benevolent govt. “official” or a long-lost uncle in Nigeria has a burning desire to transfer their wealth to them all of a sudden.
As for the income disparity you seem so concerned about, I am surprised that as a hard-working entrepreneur and “over-night” successful businessman you would not have the same concern about govt. intrusion.
It will be interesting to see next year at this time if that lovely, perky new-hire is still with you or will you have to let her go because you can’t afford her health care or you are forced to cut back on staff because you are productive enough to be in a 60% tax bracket. I’m sure there are plenty of those out there who will feel entitled to YOUR money and enjoy spending it in the name of class warfare.
I’m just saying being a successful self-starter, I’m somewhat surprised you would find the idea that the government taking your money to give to others in the name of class warfare is surprising. Let;s see how ObamaCare and other social programming works out for you and if you still feel good about others living off of your efforts.
November 20, 2009 at 11:40 pm
Sheesh, Shoe old buddy. You talk very fast at times. hahaha . . . I was trying to transcribe your comments regarding the FTC, and I had to go back and play it over and over again to catch what you were saying.
Thanks for the tid bits though. It should make good copy for my article. Keep up the good work!

November 20, 2009 at 9:18 pm
I thought after the video of the Obama rally where the lady was so thankful for the free house, the free money, and the free gas that you went McCain. But you were just showing the silliness of some supporters.
November 20, 2009 at 9:07 pm
I totally agree with you on the ftc and economy! As for the WF, I have been there and i have seen how things work in there. I have come across threads where bunch of young kids were bashing you, eeh! This is not something new. What i noticed was that most of them were not happy with the facts that you were making crazy money while they are not. But there are also several members who talk good about you. As you said, you know what you are and this kind of stuffs will go on. They can only make money when they get out there and hustle instead of wasting their time on opening irrelevant and useless threads. Believe me, some of the threads and posts out there will make you laugh to death; anyways said enough, good luck and thanks for the share.
PS: Jamie is hot!
November 20, 2009 at 6:40 pm
You’re quite the economist “jeremy pants”! I also agree that people need to start thinking for themselves a bit more.
I think the FTC needs to start with offline professionals like doctors that prescribe $100 Rx to my kids when a $5 will do the same thing. More serious issue than MMO, but still no disclosure needed to upsell me on drugs they get a kickback on? Common!
November 20, 2009 at 7:19 pm
Great post. Very “deep” answers for the husband vs. dad question, the Wicked Fire question, and FTC/personal responsibility. You can take over for Oprah next year when she retires.
OK people, who’s going to be the first to register JeremyPants.com?
And for Denny Sugar, sorry, but doctors get no kickback for prescribing your kids medication. Save your vitriol for Big Pharma who set the price, your insurance company that makes you pay $100 for your med, or next time treat your kid on your own.
November 20, 2009 at 5:48 pm
When is your first UFC match?
November 20, 2009 at 5:36 pm
Jeremy how were you able to concentrate on answering questions when the interviewer was so immodestly dressed?
November 20, 2009 at 7:43 pm
Absolutely. She’s showing her arms. Perhaps the town should take her out the soccer field and execute her.
WTF is wrong with you?
November 20, 2009 at 4:39 pm
Ya we can definitely do without the Jeremy Pants part…lol
November 20, 2009 at 4:33 pm
Don’t know where you got the idea that income disparity is big in England, I’d hazard a guess that it’s way bigger in the States.
I agree with you that the gap is going to get way bigger thank to the knowledge economy, look at aff marketing even, the 80/20 rule doesn’t apply, it’s more like the 95/5 rule!
November 20, 2009 at 4:07 pm
Nice to see that everything managed so properly in your office.
But I think this interview or session of question and answer can look much professional by seating.
Well kids are only 3 – 4 years old so at this time they just need your time and your attention when they will grow up your tension will raise and you will have to keep a close watch so that they should not involved in any bad habits. I think that phase will be more tough as a father …
November 20, 2009 at 4:06 pm
Nice rack,……….Shoe.
November 20, 2009 at 3:43 pm
That was really interesting, thanks for posting it out been waiting for a Q&A session.

Capitalism, (the way it is defined in the present day) has the wonderful position of being inclusive of all other theories, and political structures. Ultimately what draws the most finance, attention, and power, dominates, if only for a short time.
Even if we try to go in a socialist direction on something, it will only stick around long, long term if it works. If it doesn’t work, then it will get changed again.
November 20, 2009 at 2:31 pm
Nice vid J…
I think you should do these more often. I agree on the WF (and forums in general) issue. For every 1 guy who contributes something positive there’s 200 who care more about knocking people down.
November 20, 2009 at 1:45 pm
aww jeremypants
November 20, 2009 at 2:33 pm
yeh, Jeremy pants!
November 20, 2009 at 7:37 pm
Jeremy-pants….no one calls me anything-pants:(
On the FTC thing: The FTC is trying to do away with “buyer beware”. You can’t protect everyone from everything.
Pretty soon everyone will be wearing helmets everywhere they go
November 21, 2009 at 7:27 pm
I am so mad at you geordie pants!!!!
ROFL
(sorry if this made sense to no one)
November 20, 2009 at 1:41 pm
Loved this video!
I lurk at the WickedFire forum from time to time. It’s like Internet marketing 4chan.
Entertaining and often tasteless.
Looking forward to the next q&a already!
Cheers,
