Wordpress 2.8.5 Just Released
Posted October 20th, 2009 by Jeremy Schoemaker
Wordpress 2.8.5 has just been released. It contains many “hardening fixes” intended for the highly anticipated 2.9 release but pushed up do to a bunch of new exploits in the wild.
Upgrade your blog now.
Hi I am Jeremy Schoemaker and ShoeMoney.com is my blog. 99% of the post here are done by me but you will see others occasionally make guest posts. This blog is fun to write but for my day job I run several online companies.

I don’t understand why they released the new version so quickly after the last update 2 months ago.
I don’t see any changing in this new version. It’s not really necessary to upgrade.

Wow, it’s really tough to keep up with all of the updates. I realize that there are security reasons for many (if not all) of the updates, but geez, it’s practically a full time job just doing updates!

It pays to update as soon as possible. I had my blog hacked because I didn’t bother with the updates.

I think there are only few changes on 2.8.5.

It almost feels like you have to update wordpress every damn week now.
That’s fine for 1 site – but its becoming hard to base many clients sites on WP – as updating 100’s of sites to insure security is a real pain.

Another update! It feels like they update Wordpress every week!

This is good news, but the bad news is we have a ton of blogs to update.

With four clicks you can upgrade a Wordpress instalation, with a database backup included
Before it was much worse, uploading all the files manually.

Thanks for the update.
Any word on what the difference between this version and what’s going to be included on 2.9?
