Vemma, makers of Verve, the insanely healthy energy, have sent us so much great stuff I decided to bump them up the Free Shirt Friday cue.  In addition two about 5 great shirts, we got a whole case of Verve energy drink and some samples of Verve energy shot. All of which taste great… for the energy drink addicts in this office they have offered a great new choice.

According to the brochure they included one Verve energy drink or shot has the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant power of: 2 oranges, 9 avocados, 3 stalks of broccoli, 55 eggs, 1 cup of spinach, 3 cups of peas, 19 medium bananas, 62 oz of cheddar cheese, 5 large potatoes, 61 cups of tomatoes, 2 large watermelons, 17 oz of cherries, and 37 mushrooms. I don’t know about everyone else but I don’t have time to eat all that, and I would sure take the immune boost this (swine) flu season.

Check them out at www.vemma.com.

SEO’s Need To Adapt Or Die

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

Companies have an unlimited budget for items that give them a positive return. Even in a recession this is true.

Unfortunately for SEO’s (Search Engine Optimization Experts) companies are considering their work one of these unmeasurable and many of theme are now out of work.

About everyone I know who attended (and was not a incisive media employee) was talking about how the SEO flag ship conference, SES San Jose, was completely dead… and everyone is blaming the recession. I concur the recession has hit the SEO industry very hard. In a recession people go into survival mode and if they cant easily justify the spend then they cut it.

Lately it seems like SEO companies have had to learn to adapt or die. SEO client work not only sucks but it does not scale and its definitely not stable.

Also there is no magic secret sauce to SEO anymore. Its pretty obvious how to get your site to the top of Google and people are making great products available to these businesses for a fraction of the cost.

Check out how the smart SEO’s are adapting:

Stephan Spencer – Stephan is a ninja when it comes to SEO but he has also embraced social media and creating super viral content. A bit ago we did a contest to design my business card. This contest was orchestrated by Stephan Spencers company Netconcepts. The contest generated a huge amount of buzz online and tons of links for his client overnightprints.com.

Aaron Wall – In addition to writing one of the best selling books on SEO, Aaron has a EXCELLENT paid forum. I wonder if Aaron takes client work anymore =P.

David Naylor – One of my best friends in the industry Dave is always constantly evolving. He owns a very large ISP in England and is also involved in many new cool products like firewall script.

Neil Patel After seeing their was no future in SEO Neil sold his SEO company and started making more service oriented companies like crazyegg.com and the about to be unveiled kissmetrics.com

Patrick Gavin – Patrick was one of the first old school SEO’s to turn entrepreneur and start his own company – Text link Ads, maybe you have heard of it ? Patrick is now about to launch his new product Do It Yourself SEO. I have a feeling Patricks new service is going to put a bunch more SEO’s out of business but we will see when it launches.

Well I could go on for ever but the pattern is pretty clear. I am not going to go into the whole SEO is bullshit or seo is dead… the facts speak for themselves.

SEO Agencies providing client work are a dying breed. Especially when any monkey can have wordpress or any other CMS system up and running in 5 minutes and totally SEO’d as much as needed.

Noticed a trend it what dominates most search results lately? Wikipedia and wordpress blogs. How many SEO’s do you think they hired ? =P

Playboy Mansion Party is a Real Good Night

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

On the web site for the Azoogle Playboy Mansion Party, they used the song “I gotta feeling” as the background music. I can say it was very accurate.

One of my favorite things about making money on the internet are the events you get to go to. In 2006 Bodog poker had a private party event at SES San Jose that was pretty awesome. In 2007 Microsoft Adcenter hosted a party at a RedSox Game in their box suite and took their biggest advertisers. I could go on forever about cool events I have been to.

Last Saturday night AzoogleAds (Epic Advertising) threw a party at the Playboy Mansion and paid for its top 25 affiliates and friends to come. To call this a industry event or to compare it to any other party/event I have ever attend in my 9+ years of trying to make money on the internet is silly. It was a unreal experience.

Like the Elite Retreat the bar for entry was extremely high. The result is that the quality of attendees was incredible. You couldn’t just talk your way into this party like you can a lot of industry “events”.

The party started at about 8:30 and in the beginning it was very surreal taking it all in. Between the magazine and various movies and TV shows I had seen a lot of the grounds briefly but actually getting to walk around and check stuff out was neat.

They had several Playmates Of The Month to give tours and David and I took a tour with lovely Miss Stacy Fuson (POM Feb `99).:

I am really glad we took the tour cause Stacy pointed out the interesting land marks and told some funny stories about the mansion. One of my favorite stories was about how Hugh Hefner started Playboy. Evidently he was working for Esquire magazine and told his boss he wanted a $5 raise or he was going to quit. They told him to quit. In the game room of the mansion there is a picture that Esquire sent him years later of a $5 bill along with a note saying they would be happy to give him his raise if he would come back:

Also during the tour we walked past Hugh Hefner himself escorting his 2 girlfriends to bed.

Once the tour was over we joined the rest of the party goers and took the occasional pics with house bunnies:

Some of them had this really cool body paint that looked like clothing. I had seen nude body painted girls before but never of this quality. Check the photo gallery to see them. I was going to post them but someone told me body paint was not considered work safe =P

It was really neat to see the DJ I had seen so many times in the magazine (I get it for the articles):

AzoogleAds really went all out. A local L.A. friend of mind had called earlier that day to see if he could get into the mansion and the staff told him that they had not had a company cover *every possible base* in years and it was impossible to get it. This must have been a pretty special event they said. And that it was.

So then the DJ took off her top:

and that must have been a signal for all the bunnies to get nude because it seemed like a endless train of ladies jumping in the pool and running around mingling with the party goers. To be honest my photo gallery does not give a fair representation of the event because I could only upload about 10% of my pictures and no video because almost all of them contain fully nude bunnies.

But eh back to the networking. Great to hang out with my favorite Super Affiliate Managers Erin Hughes and Ryan Sessler and of course Audrey too! :

And my old friend… the hedgehog…. Ron Jeremy:

It was an amazing night that I will never forget. Those who went know what I am talking about.

AzoogleAds is already talking about doing it again at the Mansion next year. I wonder if they will get any new signups =P

Thanks to Michael Sprouse from AzoogleAds who worked with us promoting this event and totally blew it out of the water. You the man Sprouse!
