When I first started we used to have to build out our entire sites hand coded. Man was it a mess. Now things are much different.
From the ShoeMoneyX users one of the most common things I hear is:
Hi, I have zero technical ability but ready to work hard and learn. Where do I start?
Well I have a suggestion. About a month ago I signed up for DevHub and started playing around with it.
Its a great place to start for newbies cause they give you up to TEN (10) websites under your account for free.
I went with shoemoney.devhub.com and built out a site in literally under 1 hour. Check it out. I did not build it so much for looks but more to implement some of their features I thought were interesting.
The interface is super slick. Everything is drag and drop. Want a chatroom? Drop it in. Want to grab RSS feeds? Drop it in? There is tons of very slick options.
How about monetization? Devhub has deals in place with about every company that could pay out… Covering all CPM, CPA, and CPC monetization methods. Pretty slick for a newbie to learn how it all works.
They have neat reports that not only show you stats but specific earning stats and methods:
I thought this was pretty cool. Even though I had never showed anyone my page I had already made .10 off of only 4 unique visitors:
If you are just getting started and looking for a great place to make some websites and start implementing what you have learned all for free then sign up to devhub and start and get going!

looks like a good way for the newbs to get started… no excuse for lack of technical ability in this biz.. sure having that knowledge is critical down the road but ANYBODY can get a site up and make a few bucks to learn the ropes and this is even easier than wordpress..
September 22, 2009 at 10:17 am
I’ve never tried DevHub, I’ll give it a shot sometime today.
September 22, 2009 at 10:21 am
I’ve been playing around with DevHub for a while now. Have one site that’s made around $50; now just need to scale it up.
Only problem I have is that I’ve been doing the hand coding stuff for so long that I’m having a hard time adjusting to the drag and drop.
September 22, 2009 at 10:24 am
You know what? I look back at some of my sites over the last ten years and laugh. I am in the middle of my 2nd PHP book and still feel like I have a long way to go. I think I will try devhub.com and see what I can learn.
Thanks Shoe!
September 22, 2009 at 10:32 am
Looks cool.
I think it might help for people who are totally new to webdesign (HTML/CSS).
After some experience, I definitely think people need to move to CMS platform (WordPress/Drupal/Joomla) which offers more flexibility.
September 22, 2009 at 11:17 am
This one is looking good but what makes them different from Blogspot or wordpress or squidoo.
I mean if they have launched this than I am sure they must have some significant features.
Through blogger you can earn as well.
September 22, 2009 at 12:56 pm
For newbies ok. But there comes a time when you wish you have you own site…
September 22, 2009 at 2:36 pm
pretty cool, 10% of the of the revenue of each referal could really add up.
September 22, 2009 at 2:44 pm
This definitely does sound a lot like Blogspot or even Squidoo. Is there an easy way though to use your own domain for your site? What about pulling the code and using it on different hosting?
September 22, 2009 at 3:12 pm
DevHub is a very exciting opportunity for domain name owners, bloggers and entrepreneurs looking to develop and monetize their websites. It’s easy, fast and actually fun. A few of my successful DevHub sites are:
CareersQuick.com
DealsToVegas.com
Open7DaysAWeek.com
CheapestAutoInsuranceQuote.com
CashAdvancedQuick.com
FastWebsiteBuilder.com
StarAutoInsurance.com
CamerasQuick.com
eFlightSite.com
…with many more to come!
September 22, 2009 at 3:31 pm
Wooow that is easy but can we have our own domain name?
September 22, 2009 at 3:34 pm
You can use any domain name you want or already have.
September 22, 2009 at 3:40 pm
Yes, you can use pretty much any domain name you already own or are looking to buy. You can see more details about this on FastWebsiteBuilder.com
September 22, 2009 at 5:46 pm
You can use your own domains
September 22, 2009 at 3:40 pm
Yeah, I coded up my first pages in 1994. Just never did take it seriously enough to do anything with the web until last couple of years.
September 22, 2009 at 4:20 pm
It looks super cool; there are tons of easy to use web creation tools out there now.
September 22, 2009 at 4:46 pm
The days of hand coding HTML make me cringe. The fact that easy to publish CMS systems are a mini-revolution.
September 22, 2009 at 4:51 pm
That’s pretty cool. I remember the geocities days, but have never been able to master (or even get to an intermediate level) of coding. Services like this are pretty helpful.
September 22, 2009 at 11:42 pm
Oh man I remember those Geocities sites. Thats where I first learned to code. Do you remember the super big a retarded animated .gif images everyone used to use.
Gotta love free websites for beginners.
September 23, 2009 at 2:24 pm
Wait…you mean people don’t use those anymore?! Errr….
September 22, 2009 at 9:14 pm
It’s good for you to make. Making a website is really hard when you are just getting started. I have signed up to that site and it was always fun to learn.
September 22, 2009 at 10:46 pm
Wow, I’m loving the simple interface and the amount of data you can gathered. Definitely agree that it’s very good for newbies.
September 23, 2009 at 12:04 am
Building a DevHub website is one of the very few ways you can create something for free and make money with your idea. Remember, it’s a free website with hosting and many ways to monitize. It’s an easy process! For more info go to http://FastWebsiteBuilder.com
September 23, 2009 at 12:23 am
That does look pretty sweet, | think i’ll check it out for sure, save me a few bucks on buying domain names until im sure.
September 23, 2009 at 12:24 am
Wow!
Jeremy, the best aaspect of these post are (Sorry, though we are talking in superlative, there are more than one) like this:
1. You have done it
2. You have proven that to your readers
3. You are tageting it right on newbies, who would benefit from it instead of investing in websites.
P.S. : With follow up articles, you would definitely gain higher benefits. But, I guess, you know that, Right?
September 23, 2009 at 1:04 am
That’s a normal reaction specially for those who are just starting the business…
September 23, 2009 at 5:17 am
It sure is very useful, saves a lot of time and money. But I guess soon it will be really hard to find a person, able to write code
September 23, 2009 at 5:21 am
It sure does save a lot of time. But I guess soon it will be hard to find someone, able to write code.
September 23, 2009 at 5:43 am
Very similar to Interspire Website Publisher but with not as many features. Interspire has surveys/feeback forms, twitter feed, calendars, photo gallery, custom content types, dropdown menus etc: http://www.interspire.com/websitepublisher/ is the URL if you want to take a look.
September 23, 2009 at 10:43 am
The bar is set tremendously low. For about $8/per month you can setup an online business and see if you can make it.
After you pickup a free wordpress theme, setup your twitter account, and facebook pages you’re all set.
Then you can write articles, and leave comments (like this one here) to help build traffic and join conversations.
The only part which takes time is building good content. You either have to play quantity or quality with most new bloggers having to go with quantity since they may not be sure what quality content users are looking for.
It’s good to see that there are easy ways to create sites without them being blogs but with so little involved in blog maintenance I’m not sure why someone would opt for HTML instead.
September 23, 2009 at 10:02 am
I remember my first website was a free AOL website. After that I’ve used different program. Never really got into html coding that much.
September 23, 2009 at 10:32 am
Yes absolutely remember the time when building a site got more than a month. Everything was written on hand and the websites were with bad design and no widgets. Everything was useless
September 23, 2009 at 12:58 pm

For for free DevHub websites it’s actually http://FastWebsiteBuilder.com –
NOT the parked name “Freewebsitebuilder”
September 23, 2009 at 7:10 pm
CORRECTION: I think you mean: ” For DevHub websites ( http://FastWebsiteBuilder.com ) you can use your own domain name, a DevHub free domain name, or get yours from http://RedTruckDomains.com “
September 23, 2009 at 1:02 pm
I remember “Web 1.0″ when all the tables were ugly and people overused frames…
It is amazing how quickly and easily anyone can put together a site. Theme and design options, widgets, etc.. devHub seems make it easier for technically challenged users to monetize their content.
September 23, 2009 at 3:37 pm
I agree, just thinking of those old websites makes me wanna gag, lol. WordPress has done wonders for me though, so easy to get a website going my grandma can do it.
September 23, 2009 at 4:44 pm
It’s so true, people these days have no idea how easy it is compared to how it used to be, good old text editor for me
September 23, 2009 at 6:49 pm
Those arcade games are rigged so your chances of winner are terrible. Lottery type odds.
September 23, 2009 at 6:51 pm
Something weird happened there. I commented on Seaworld and it ended up on website creation. ?
September 24, 2009 at 10:18 am
Hi Jeremy, by coincidence, I was about to start my own project of making website using joomla. I know lil bit about joomla. I do own several website scripts in PHP, and I made one or two projects from it. But I’ve been thinking of making an easy website so that in future it will be easier for me to create several website at once. I will definitely try devhub, I am following your link above. Thanks for the post btw. And I have to say you inspire me a lot in posting blog. My future plan is to create my own blog’s design, something good like what you have here.
Oh yeah, I hope you dont mind me using keyword for the name. I used to comment as Master B, but now I decided to use keyword instead. Hope you still dofollow. Thanks.
September 24, 2009 at 8:49 pm
when you start your blog.. you must have passed so much hard rock… but know you are a man
September 24, 2009 at 9:24 pm
Wordpres FTW.
September 24, 2009 at 11:05 pm
It was great time, when building of website got all your time and the support was the worst thing. Huh good to see so many tools like WordPress, Directory Submitters and thousands of SEO Tools for making your website really worthy.
September 25, 2009 at 12:36 am
That site is really user-friendly and almost all the newbies can use it very well.
September 25, 2009 at 8:52 am
I also find it funny when people complain how hard wordpress is !
September 25, 2009 at 8:55 am
I thought wordpress was super complicated and now I have well over 20 sites build on wordpress!

September 27, 2009 at 3:03 pm
That pretty slick, definitely officialness. I’m getting on that right away-thanks for sharing that.
September 27, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Yeah Devhub really gives away lots of tools to make your website in no time. Its really easy and you don’t need to know web programming.

I agree… it’s so easy to set up a site these days. With sites like WordPress, Weebly and the one mentioned in this post, almost anyone should be able to set up a site.
September 30, 2009 at 3:02 am
I recently signed up in devhub.com. Its really fast and very easy to create the site there. Pretty cool.

Speaking of the good old days …
Remember when everyone thought you had some extra special super powers because you could create a HTML page in notepad!
Check out some reviews written in 1996 of well-known, and some not so well-known (and since hit the dust), web sites at my new blog:
http://theyearis1996.blogspot.com/
May be you were part of the in crowd when it was all starting to happen!
October 4, 2009 at 1:29 am
I like how you used the past tense there… Everyone still thinks I have super powers because I can do HTML! However, the real panty dropper is CSS, ASP, and SQL!
I just wished i knew php
November 7, 2009 at 8:56 pm
I agree making a website nowadays is pretty much a breeze, a lot easier than in he stone age days of webhosts.
They have free sitebuilder tools designed for beginners, that make getting a decent looking website up and running quickly pretty easy. Especially for beginners new to web design.
