In the last couple years I have had the fortune to meet with a lot of celebrities. Sometimes it kind sucks though because unfortunately when you meet them in person they can be real jerks. Then you are done with them as a fan.
At Techcrunch50 I got to sit down with Penn Jillette for about a hour. We talked about his iPhone application, religion, politics, just about everything. He was really a cool guy and it was a pleasure to meet him.
I asked him if he would do a quick interview with me and he agreed:

Good stuff!

It is true that famous people very often turn to be not very pleasant ones. And it is always nice to hear about exceptions.

Oh that was a memorable meeting. Isn’t it?
I can see through the video that he’s really a very nice guy.

You’re hitting the celebrity status yourself Jeremy. Do you watch what you say more than you did than let’s say last year?
Cheers

I just am myself.
September 16, 2009 at 9:51 pm
Hah, funny… Too bad the interview is really short.
September 16, 2009 at 8:30 pm
Thank God you didn’t try to interview Teller cause that interview would have gone nowhere.
September 16, 2009 at 5:11 pm
I <3 Penn and Teller. I've been a fan of Magic for a long time.
September 16, 2009 at 4:51 pm
He is very cool and very smart person. That is cool that you got to do an interview and talk with him. Greg Ellison

I love that guy! He is really funny, although sometimes he seems to be an a-hole, but oh well, you can’t have everything!
September 16, 2009 at 3:31 pm
You are a pretty tall dude Shoe….
….Penn seemed to tower over you even while just sitting down. (or it seemed that way watching the video)
Was that the case?
He also seems to have a VERY strong personality….was that also the case?
September 16, 2009 at 4:59 pm
I don’t know how tall Jeremy is, but Penn is just under 6′ 7″, so there aren’t a lot of people that he doesn’t tower over.
September 16, 2009 at 3:31 pm
Penn rocks!!
September 16, 2009 at 3:25 pm
That is quite funny, off my chair now.
September 16, 2009 at 3:18 pm
Glad to hear he didn’t turn out to be one of the jerks. I like those guys and just watched Penn & Teller Get Killed again the other day.
September 16, 2009 at 2:45 pm
“A lot of married people want to get laid too” Penn is one funny guy. Will have to check out his new iphone app.
September 16, 2009 at 1:34 pm
His show rocks, cool that you got to meet him!
September 16, 2009 at 12:53 pm
I love how you scratch your ear from .42 to .48…
And I agree with Penn, yes, us married guys want to get laid too…
Cool interview…
September 16, 2009 at 12:18 pm
That’s awesome! That guy is pretty hilarious. I love the way he tries to explain how much tricks work, yet by the time he’s done, you still have no idea how the hell they did it. It’s kind of like the internet marketing world.

great meeting right???
September 16, 2009 at 12:00 pm
Did you get to talk to Teller? I heard he’s not much of a conversationalist.
Sean

It’s official, I’m jealous…
Am I the only one that doesn’t know of his app?
September 16, 2009 at 11:40 am
When I was doing valet parking years ago he came in with a bright pink ford bronco… With “pink death” written on the back. I don’t remember the exact conversation but I do remember he was just a really nice guy.
September 16, 2009 at 11:34 am
Met Penn, cool!
(Magicians don’t make good internet marketers: their specialty is making money disappear…)
September 16, 2009 at 11:30 am
I love his show. Was his partner in crime there too.
September 16, 2009 at 11:16 am
Hey Jeremy, I think that would be a cool feeling. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks
September 16, 2009 at 11:03 am
Excellent. You got to love Penn.
