It’s the authority I’ve developed with you guys, and with Google. Most people don’t get that it’s basically the same thing.
The great thing is that this approach works in any niche, for basically anybody of any skill level willing to go for it.
Look at me… I didn’t start off as some special celebrity or expert. Not too long ago, I was fat and broke, so don’t give me any excuses.
But how about some help to get started?
Brian Clark of Copyblogger just put up a free report on building authority. Brian is a good friend of mine and was has been a leader at our Elite Retreat events.

That adsensephoto of yours was the thing that got me interested (so was the pool…)… and you seem to write good stuff so no problem for me to get back here over and over.
Great post and useful free report. Its important to build authority and position yourself to gain a foothold in your market or niche. You can then begin to build relationships and lists and work from there.

I agree. But I also think that anyone can have “authority” – but to have “respect” in that authoritative field is key. To touch people on a personal level with your business is also important.

Just wondering why you would use a domain in your name rather than the real name? I think it’s an automatic turn-off in the online marketing world. I know you’re a real person, not an automated spammer (but usually this is done by those who spam) – I was just curious as to how much traffic you get by doing this. Is it worth it? I am just asking out of curiosity – not to offend, because to me it makes me want to NOT visit your site. Just a thought…

Brian knows alot about marketing, His blog is really famous, maybe because the thesis theme is the most famous wordpress theme of all times.
to start acquire the expert level needed to gain the authority and people trust you – you have to know first your competition as high competition means high efforts
Some of the material in the download is quite philosophical and should be obvious but useful as reminders of things to keep in mind.

Definitely an interesting article. Really gives me food for thought as I’m now attempting to pursue local affiliate marketing. Will be interesting to look for ways to build authority for my clients, and by doing so, gain some perceived authority for myself.
perceived authority is more important than actual authority huh? It’s something I’ve always assumed but listening to him smack me in the face with it was a real eye opener.

This authority thing exists for sure – however, I tend to think the word “authority” has been misused in this context and really ought to be replaced by “popular” …

You can always go on a diet dude! It is really not that difficult, and actually quite fun once you get into it. Joining a group like weight watchers is definitely a way to have some group support, but trust me, as the kilo’s come off your whole life changes.

Good for you on becoming successful, Jeremy. You’ve earned your authority by walking your talk, and you are an inspiration to others. From reading your story I do feel that a good woman also help inspire you to greater heights. We can never ever disregard how much of an influence a life partner can have on our ultimate success.
I think authority rules online. If you can be perceived as an authority site, the sky’s the limit.
