Hey folks, it’s Rebecca Kelley here (formally of SEOmoz and currently the Director of Social Media for 10e20, your friendly neighborhood social media marketing company). About a year and a half ago I pulled some guest posts out of my ass for Shoe, and he must have been nostalgic lately because he’s asked me to resume my position as guest blogger. You can look forward to guest posts from me a couple times a week. If that ain’t your cup of tea, avoid the blog when I post while we all have fun without you.
Anyway, one of the things I love about Shoe is what he said in his last post:
So I was talking with the notorious keyboard gangsta Nickycakes a couple weeks ago and telling him how bad I suck as a CEO and really need to get my time management skills in order.
The fact that he acknowledges his CEO suckitude goes to show you that he’s a smart guy (terrible speller, but oh well). I’ve met a lot of businesspeople and douchebags in this industry who either a) refuse to address their shortcomings, or b) know their weaknesses and do absolutely nothing about it. Those are the types of people I can’t stand working with. Either their heads are so far up their asses that they think they can do everything perfectly when in reality they’re effing up everything they get their bumbling hands on, or they go “Yeah, I suck at managing people but oh well, I’m going to keep sucking at it instead of either working to improve my skills or hiring someone who’s better suited for the role.”
Learn something from Jeremy, peeps. If you’re not good at something, either become good at it or, if you’re still unable to get good at it for whatever reason (like if you’re too wimpy to fire someone or you’re too scatterbrained to handle accounting stuff), find someone to fill the void and strengthen your company or team. If you’re too ignorant, dumb or stubborn to acknowledge your shortcomings and come up with a solution, you’re only hurting yourself and the success of your business.
So there you have it, my triumphant return to guest posting for Shoe. I kept it short and sweet. Hopefully my next one will be a bit meatier and contain more swear words and poop jokes. Tune in later this week to find out!

The thoughts which are in circulation are sensational.

Who else thinks Rebeca is hot?
July 15, 2009 at 3:26 am
Sucktitude.. Lol cool word in the house!
July 11, 2009 at 4:02 am
Rebecca, how would you know whether the Shoe fits unless you actually measured him? Enquiring minds wanna know!
July 9, 2009 at 6:08 pm
Great tips, and I often hear of people who about hiring some kind of “manager” to look at the flaws in their blog, tell them what they need to do to improve it, and force them to get things done, etc.
July 9, 2009 at 8:54 am
Nice guest post. I like it when it’s short. You have a lot of fun reading in a short period of time. I’m looking forward for more guest posts from you Rebecca.
July 9, 2009 at 7:06 am
Just love the way you write. Cool stuff, keep it up. Waiting for more poop jokes from ya.
July 23, 2009 at 8:38 pm
I’d have to disagree with you there. We all have our differing styles in writing and speech – this is not mine.
July 31, 2009 at 4:24 am
Me too, I gree with you
I like the way shoe write and joke that he made
August 3, 2009 at 8:51 pm
I second that..wait 3rd…not my style with all the swearing. Like to keep things professional.
July 9, 2009 at 6:03 am
This guest poster sounds like she might be a lot of fun. I’ll look forward to reading more of these.
July 9, 2009 at 4:11 am
In my case I know my weakness is in putting my thoughts into writing.
But I know I need to develop a skill for this because its crucial for my online success.
July 9, 2009 at 3:35 am
Great post! I wait for more
July 8, 2009 at 11:36 pm
Rebbecca,
If you keep writing posts like this while I’ll…..
………. keep reading them and posting comments! and I will like it!
July 8, 2009 at 8:46 pm
A meaningful post with a clear message. I liked that. Thanks Rebecca!
I’m one of those who usually address their shortcoming and try to do something better about it.
Well, it may seem funny, but you don’t need to confess. As long as you find out about your weakness, just come up with a solution.
Every marketer and blogger has either some skills and shortcomings. The point is to find them and improve yourself.
That’s why we see some special guys on the Internet each of which is unique and expert in something.
Hope we think about it more.
Wish You the Best!
Hooshmand

The level of douchebagery in these comments is a bit unsettling. I’m going to make the assumption there is just one schmuck making all these negative comments and not a host of like-minded knuckleheads.
Looking forward to your forthcoming posts Rebecca–you’re on point as ever. Although I have no freaking idea how you’re going to keep fresh content coming between the many websites you blog on I can only assume you, like my wife, can never run out of shit to talk about.
July 8, 2009 at 8:37 pm
Write some more joke, we’re here to read
July 9, 2009 at 3:54 am
Hahahahahahahaha
July 8, 2009 at 7:55 pm
Talk more about affiliate marketing and people will stop complaining.
Not a bad post, but a little offtopic imho.
July 8, 2009 at 7:19 pm
shoe is really a great person. and hey! guest posting wasn’t bad at all
July 8, 2009 at 7:19 pm
There`s a fun and short good read on management called “the one minute manager meets the monkey”…. my issue is not delegating enough and it helped me out quite a bit!
P.S. Rebecca, you crack me up!
July 8, 2009 at 4:36 pm
Damn, I don’t come to shoemoney.com to check for guest posts…
Where has Shoemeister been? Obviously he is all about his “time management” working on other projects saying Fuck you to the shoemoney readers…
July 8, 2009 at 4:18 pm
We’ve seen and loved when Jeremy talks about douchebags, peeps, whatever, but for Christ sake, this guest post has to be one of the most incongruent ones I’ve ever read.
Being a guest blogger on Shoemoney doesn’t mean that you have to talk like him.
Oh well.
July 8, 2009 at 7:05 pm
Wow, I didn’t know Shoe had an embargo on the word “douchebag.” Duly noted–guess he already called dibs.
July 8, 2009 at 4:09 pm
“Learn something from Jeremy, peeps..”
Yeah right! What are we here for?
I, for one, will be tuning out until this round of “guest blogging” fizzles out.
Thank you but no thanks!
July 8, 2009 at 6:15 pm
why keep posting negative comments to this post under different names?
July 9, 2009 at 2:43 am
actually no so, it was one of my co-workers, who’s also an active reader of your blog and who happens to share the same consent about the post.
July 8, 2009 at 2:29 pm
Yay! The return of the guest blogger that tries WAY too hard to be funny. i can’t wait!
July 8, 2009 at 7:04 pm
I don’t try at all. I like to set the bar low.
July 8, 2009 at 12:24 pm
You go to love the power of leverage. In business is always good to leverage somebody else money, knowledge, and skills.
July 8, 2009 at 12:26 pm
knowledge, and skills are one of the most important as far as particular ball game is concerned.
July 8, 2009 at 10:18 am
Round every millionaire is a great team of people, just look at the likes of Virgin who use other peoples expertise to improve there brand
July 8, 2009 at 9:32 am
Great Post Rebecca. Good to know that you are Director of Social Media company now.
July 31, 2009 at 4:33 am
Yup Rick I Like Rebecca Comment
It Really suprise Who really Rebecca
July 8, 2009 at 9:18 am
Wow, swear words and poop jokes. Now that’s my kind of woman. Looking forward to more.
July 8, 2009 at 8:54 am
Nice, short guest post Rebecca. But you know that some people don’t trust other people to do their job. Why? Maybe insecurity, which makes them look even worst. If a CEO doesn’t learn how to delegate then he’s better off as a circus clown.
July 8, 2009 at 12:37 pm
Asswass – As far as trusting people is concerned it is next to impossible in our country as TON of bullshit things are going on around and this recession has taken care of rest of things..lol
Survey says around 4000 CEO’s have lost their Jobs in last 1 year what more i should say.
July 8, 2009 at 8:31 am
It’s very true – too many people get upset when people suggested what they could use improvement with. In this industry especially, anyone and everyone should take every chance they get to learn new things and to improve on there short comings.
July 8, 2009 at 8:29 am
“Learn something from Jeremy, peeps. If you’re not good at something, either become good at it or, if you’re still unable to get good at it for whatever reason [...], find someone to fill the void and strengthen your company or team.”
No offense, but how does his unwillingness to improve his spelling/grammar fit into that picture?
July 8, 2009 at 11:00 am
He has people on his team who (sometimes) catch and fix his mistakes for him.
July 8, 2009 at 9:40 pm
“Prioritize potentially profitable projects”:
ShoeMoney is a poor speller because his mind and typing fingers are focused on content-not form. Spelling and typing acurately don’t earn him an income, getting his thoughts down onto this blog-even if in an imperfect syntax-does.
He just gets it done and moves onto the next thing.
July 8, 2009 at 7:58 am
Ayup.
A long time ago I had employees. I quickly found out that I really suck at managing people.
I suppose I could have hired someone to do that for me, but instead I opted for the Lone Wolf route. The important thing was that I stopped doing the thing I couldn’t do well!
I have been so much happier since then
July 8, 2009 at 12:25 pm
I agree with your Views Tony. Helpful comments for sure ..!!
July 8, 2009 at 7:57 am
“… If you’re too ignorant, dumb or stubborn to acknowledge your shortcomings and come up with a solution, you’re only hurting yourself…”
Sounds like great copy for an ED commercial :.)
July 8, 2009 at 6:25 am
I have a lot of shortcomings but I’d rather focus on my strengths instead of spending energy and time working on my weaknesses. I think in those cases it’s best to hire someone.
July 8, 2009 at 5:45 am
It is with a very, very wide smile that I see your silly words written above. I look forward to more light profanity, an occasional poop joke, and possibly even a “that’s what she said” peppered into your posts.
July 8, 2009 at 12:27 pm
Silly words ..lol
July 31, 2009 at 4:41 am
