SNODS – A Fun Way To “play” With Twitter

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

One of my friends I have known for a LONG time hit me up last night saying they were going to launch a game based around Twitter. When I checked it out I was totally blown away….

The game is called SNODS and if you want to skip through my review you can just check it out here.

What is SNODS? Imagine a real time strategy game based around twitter. You kidnap people based on their value (followers) to collect money. You can also complete missions to earn cash and even steal from other players:

snods attacks

Once you have cash you can use it to buy upgrades like guards and stuff to defend your captured twitters:

snods upgrades

Pretty fun and addictive without spamming the crap out of your twitter feed. (you can control what gets sent to your twitter feed in the communication settings)

Squatters Own 80% of Twitter

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

A recent article on Techcrunch showed facts that 80% of twitter accounts have less than 10 followers.

Here is the total break down of stats in the article:

Followers
Accounts with 0 followers: 29.4%
Accounts with 1 to 9 followers: 50.9%
Accounts with 10 or more followers: 19.7%

Followings
Accounts following 0 people: 24.4%
Accounts following 1 to 9 people: 43.4%
Accounts following 10 or more people: 32.2%

Tweets
Accounts with 0 Tweets: 37.1%
Accounts with 1 to 9 Tweets: 41.0%
Accounts with more 10 or more Tweets: 21.9%

Now in the article and in the comments people are blaming SEO’s for this spamming twitter.

I think they have the wrong angle one this.

These accounts are not spamming…. these accounts are just sitting idle. And have been idle for a long time.

I know some SEO’s who have registered THOUSANDS of popular twitter names just sitting.

About a year ago I had a idea to scrape a list of the top 2000 most popular babynames and then match them against taken twitter names. about 25% were still open at the time. If I would have had the time I would have probably registered them and sat on them.

I just ran the script again and 100% of them are registered. Not surprised.

I am sure that all of these accounts that have zero followers are super old. I just registered an account yesterday for a company we are launching and instantly was followed by wholefoods and a couple other huge brands. Talking with others they have the same experience.

Not sure if twitter is doing this for them, they are just following sequential ids, or just scraping the new users but one thing is very clear. Its next to impossible to register a new twittername and not get 10 followers if you use the account at all.

Dangers of Becoming a Web Celebrity

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

I was talking with a friend the other day who was telling me how cool it would be to work for one of these web celebrities. Then I peed in their cheerios telling them I don’t know of many celebrities who have ever done many successful businesses.

There have been many successful business people who turn into a web celebrity and then their business sense goes in the shitter.

The truth is its VERY rare that any celebrity has much business sense including former successful people who turn into celebrities.

The only exception I can think of is Donald Trump. He has managed to go on to do even bigger things after becoming a celebrity.

I am not going to call out certain people but search a round a bit for .com zillionaires who became famous then have not done anything since…

At some point being a celebrity becomes your business… that scares me.

OMG The Hangover

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

Took my wife up to Minneapolis for the weekend to hang out with Dave and his girlfriend. We eat some incredible food and on Saturday it was all rainy so we went and saw The Hangover

This movie is instantly one of the top 10 funniest movies I have ever seen. Go see it now. Before your friends ruin it for you.

You can thank me later.

Earn Prizes and Cash?

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

If you haven’t noticed yet affiliate networks are seeing huge returns by having publisher contests. Just check out the Motive Interactive contest we announced earlier this week.

With the rise of all these contests obviously it opens up a great business opportunity for someone to jump in and take the reigns and run these contests taking some of the friction off of both the publisher and advertiser.

twitthis started hosting twitter contests last week and they have become a huge success getting thousands of entries per day!  Another successful site hosting contests is PublisherChallenge.com.  The site is ran by Tyler Cruz and starting to really pick up steam.

PublisherChallenge.com - Affiliate Marketing Competitions

PublisherChallenge.com has been running competitions for various affiliate networks for quite a while now.  So basically they run the competition, on a per-network basis and each affiliate network essentially gives them a set of prizes to give away.  Most of the competitions are run on a monthly basis, and require registering to the corresponding affiliate network under PublisherChallenge’s referral URL.  After you register with each affiliate network, you start earning money as you would normally, but you are also competing for some great stuff.  To date, they have given away $20,000 in prizes!

They do all of the tracking without asking for your username or password, and no code to implement either.

PublisherChallenge.com - Affiliate Marketing Competitions

I mean making money is great, but making money and winning prizes like: a ZERO-G Weightless Experience or an Epic VIP Vegas Trip for Two for a full week is awesome!

Currently, CPARev, running a great contest through PublisherChallenge.com with prizes ranging from  a 52-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV, MacBook Pro, 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera, and a VIP trip to Vegas to name but a few.  Peerfly.com is also running a contest right now, and have already given away $8,000 in prizes so far.  Prizes range from trips to scooters to tvs!

Sign up now and make some money and win some cool stuff.

Running My Own Affiliate Network – A Month Later

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

I have been running The ShoeMoney Affiliate Network almost a month now and its been quite a educational experience.

Between all of our products I used to use and spend about $500 a month for various hosted affiliate programs and was totally unsatisfied with their flexibility. Then one of my friends (who also happens to run one of the biggest affiliate networks) told me to check out hasoffers. He said they were actually looking to switch from their direct track tracking system to it.

That got my attention so I checked it out. It was perfect timing because I was also preparing to launch the shoemoneyx training course. So I created an affiliate program for the free course paying users .25 cents to 1.50 per free user that enrolled in the program.

Sure I hear you… your thinking “Why the hell would you pay people to sign up for a free course?”

Its a great question and I think when the dust settles around the shoemoneyx.com program I will write all about it, why I did what, and what exact effect it had. I do have a method to my madness but its not as many have guessed. We will see if it works but that is for another post ;)

Anyway back to the network – I literally made my account and had my affiliate network not only running but programs running within 24 hours.

Fast forward to now its been pretty amazing. The affiliate program for shoemoneyx really helped it jump start and by the end of this month we should have over 100,000 people enrolled. That is much more successful then I ever dreamed the program could be.

And a lot of people have made good money with it:

(identifying info blocked out)

You see how there is all kinds of various pricing? The normal payout was .25 cents per user but then I did some promotions where it was like hey for the next 2 days I will triple your payout!.

Its awesome having that kind of flexibility.

Hasoffers offers is simple for the newbie to use and will really impress the most advanced affiliate marketer with their features.

Another super cool thing I like which I never actually thought about was being able to actually leverage my high payouts to my own affiliates.

Let me give you an example.

Lets say I push 2000 Ringtone leads a day through various companies. Because I am pushing pretty high volume I can leverage ATLEAST a 20-30% higher payout then the what a affiliate doing less than 100 leads a day.

So whats the benefit of using my ringtone program vs the street?

  • Users will see a lift in conversions because they will run through my high converting landing pages.
  • Hasoffers has geotargeting built in so I can make sure the affiliate is getting paid the most for international offers also instead of just losing out on traffic.
  • I can pay 10-15% more then what the affiliate was getting paid before PLUS they will notice a 10-20% increase in conversions because of my landing pages and geotargeting thus giving them up to a 45% increase overall in payout FOR THE SAME TRAFFIC

But guess what… I am not going to do that ;) But YOU CAN!

There are so many features in hasoffers its just blowing me away. And the best part is its 100% free for under 1m clicks…. and FYI I have not come close to 100k clicks let alone 1m. I would love to have 1m clicks ;)

So go sign up and checkout hasoffers. You might not think its for you…. but I am guessing after quickly looking around you will love it.

ShoeMoneyX Q&A

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

I have received a ton of douplicate questions about the new FREE  12 week internet marketing program I started last week.    Its been pretty wild and one of the first things I have ever done.  So here is a list of frequently asked questions and answers about the program.

Question:  Why did you make this program?

Answer:  I made the program because I felt like there was a HUGE need for a newbie guide to internet marketing.  One of the most common questions I always get is “Where do I start”.  Now I have some place to point them.

Question:  Who is this program designed for?

Answer:  The program is designed for people completely new to internet marketing.  There is a good chance your parents are a better fit for this program then you are ;) .

Question:  There is some really good stuff in there.  Obviously you spent a lot of time on it.  Why did you make it free?

Answer:  I have always done well giving away good content.  This blog is a great example.  I wrote it for years without ever making a dime.  Now it is a excellent source of revenue for me from advertisers and also a great launching pad for our other ventures.  Giving away this course has already increased my RSS readership by about 30% in only the 2nd week.

Question:  I am really skeptical about joining your program.  I have been burned in the past by other make money online guru’s and its cost me thousands of dollars.  How do I know you are legit?

Answer: You are very smart to be skeptical.   I can’t speak for these programs you have been burnt on but I can speak for myself.  I have spent over 12 years working on the ShoeMoney brand building successful companies (not being a online guru).  I plan on continueing that.  I would advise you to do some quick research on any person behind the program, paid or not, before you sign up.

Question:  Why do you make people wait 7 days between chapters?  I want it all now!

Answer:  Internet marketing is not something you can learn over night.   I give out a tremendous amount of information in these chapters and then assign you action items that I want you to do.

Question: Do you have any plans to translate it to other languages?

Answer: YES!  So far we have had volunteers translate the course to Mandarin Chinese and Russian.  If you would like to translate the course to your native language then use the contact us form and let us know!

Question: I heard some of the “gurus” were really upset that you put this out.

Answer:  Well…  I think it was more like people who paid thousands of dollars for many gurus programs were complaining my free course was much better and free.

Question: Why do your banners say 11 week course but its really a 12 week course?

Answer:  Originally it was going to be a 7 week course…. then 8 then 9 then 11 and we had banners made… then when we launched I expanded it to 12 weeks.  To be honest it could end up being longer then 12 weeks.  I have thought of a lot more topics I want to cover.

Question:  I heard you are not going to allow signups much longer.  Is this true?

Answer:  We will keep it open for registration for another week or so.. I really dont want to keep it open much longer.  The reason being that people who started at the begining are almost on week 3 and while I can answer emails between weeks 1-3 it will be REALLY hard to do weeks 1-12!

Thanks and please let me know if you have more questions!

If you have not yet signed up for the course go here and signup now!

How To Really Piss Off Grammer Nazi’s

Step 1) In your website make a lot of gramatical errors.

Step 2) When the Grammar nazi contacts you rub it in there face a bit.

Step 3) Post it on your site.
