How Nebraska Got Owned By CollegeHumor.com

Posted on: May 19th, 2009 by Jeremy Schoemaker

The state of Nebraska was just informed today that our new license plate would be this:

After the results were announced, we quickly found out we had been had.  College Humor had a page devoted to “Ruin a Nebraska”.  So we’re stuck with boring license plates, voted on by users of CollegeHumor.

At least we’ll be known for football and now for a boring license plate. NebraskPWNED!

Oh well, now 5 people who have cars in Nebraska will own the ugly plates. :-D j/j
I think they are doing it everywhere now. A few years ago I lived in Indiana and they made ugly green plates as well. :)

I remember those ugly green plates. Lucky for me, it matched the Accord that I drove back then…since then, they changed the Indiana plates to “In God We Trust” which for some reason were recalled by IDOT and everyone got another set of plain looking plates.

Thats funny… These states must be running out of the designers. :) For some reason all coastal plates still have pretty ones. :)

Hmm, shame the poll is closed, I would have liked to have seen the other options.

I don’t really see what’s wrong with the design, though. It looks fine to me.

I think it is a sad state of affairs that NE got pranked like that. Can’t the state government oppose this change? Well, if not at least I can be glad I don’t live in NE.

    you have my sympathies.

Nice dull grey color. One of the states should come out with a totally customizable photo license plate… kind of like how they do the photo postage stamps.

well I dont see nothing wrong with this licence, maybe people see it a little bit simple and also the grey color is like a sad color but for me it looks like very cool. If you are upset about this you should come and see the licence of panama that’s really ugly licence

This happened because CollegeHumor.com has more readers than the entire state of Nebraska. What’s their population? 100 people? 105?

    • Eric Green
      May 20, 2009 at 2:35 pm

no it more like Colllege humor had more readers than people that gave a damn about Nebraskas license plate. and that might have been 100-105

Wow you’re kind of an idiot. And since 100% of the replies you’ve received to this comment have called you out on your idiocy, there must not be anyone in the world who thinks otherwise. Because absolutely every living person posts their opinion to stupid shit on the internet.

Hey Matt last time I checked Nebraska had a little under 2 million people in it so get a life you stereotypical jerk…

Wow, first time I came back to this post since I posted my first comment.

Way to go, Eric! You got the Shoe-like satire Jeremy liberally sprinkles throughout his blog. Looks like Nathan and Rachel need to take a less from you (and find a coke and a smile).

I live in Nebraska too, and when I saw the picture I was like what the hell man, that license plate is sooo lame.
Why can we just not keep the ones we have and save some money stupid NE legislators or people who decided that it was a good idea for a new license plate.

The other 3 “finalists” weren’t much to look at either, but it’s funny how first Time got pwned and now Nebraska. What’s next?

    • Rachel
      May 22, 2009 at 11:40 am

Time wasn’t “pwned”. They asked who was the most influential person of 2009. Moot won when his followers flooded the polls. Do you know what the word influential means?

Also does anybody use “pwned” unironically anymore?

Are you telling me you guys only have 1 license plate? We have over 200 different plates in Virginia – http://bit.ly/2TCEg

Why oh why is the number plate cluttered. We don’t have anything except the registration number on the plates in India and nothing is allowed either.

All of those plates were pretty weak… was the winning plate the one they told everyone to vote for?

Well, at least those plates will look tasteful on funeral home cars.

At least Nebraska gives its citizens a choice. Why don’t you folks grow up, become adults and do something constructive for a change. Kind of reminds me of computers hackers and grafiti taggers. Always trying to pick on other people who have done nothing to them. Oh, and by the way, we Nebraskans do have our issues but remember the scripture “let he who has no sin cast the first stone”. Oh, and noticed it doesn’t say STONED. Grow up guys…

So, did the state of Nebraska do something to them? That plate looks really plain! At least a picture could have been added.

at least they admitted it. I want the old plate though I like the gradient better than the one they are actually going to go with.

Sigh… Big time problems nothing else could possibly be worse in the world–
