How To Make More Money As A Stripper – Strip And Grow Rich

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

A good friend showed me this site the other day.  Its called strip and grow rich.   Basically the site teaches strippers on how to make more money.  I did not sign up to be a paying member but I was pretty fascinated with the demo videos.  Its amazing how a lot of the psychology translates to internet marketing.
Its all about up sells and getting your audience to do what you want them to do.

UPDATE: They took down the demo video and asked me to not link to it…. Someone has no clue about internet marketing.

UPDATE2: its been requested I not link to the site… umm ok I wont.

NOTE TO NEWER SHOEMONEY READERS:

I am a student of marketing first and for most.  I am very non judgmental.

Whether its the marketing tactics used in religion, porn, whatever.  If I see them I will point them out and what we can learn from them.  Deal with it.

Selling Results

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

Remember the old saying “sell benefits, not features” ?

No?

Basically when you write sales copy for landing pages you will notice a drastic increase in conversions if you state the benefits and not the features.

For instance with the weight loss niche:

Features:

* You will lose weight.

* You wont be fat anymore.

* People wont call you fatass!

Benefits:

* Look Better!

* Get More Confidence!

* Live a longer, happier life!

I have never seen where this method has not worked for landing page conversions and the only time it hasnt is when the person did not understand the concept.

Benefits and features and be VERY similar and in some verticals almost identical.

So lately I have been saying more Features versus Results.

So if you are trying to implement this stragegy in some of your conversion copy and having trouble then instead replace the word benefits with results.

Subscription Revenue 4tw

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

In 2006 Nextpimp had over 70,000 active paying subscribers at 19.95 every 6 months.   Thats just over 3 million dollars for that year alone.  Many people would just look at the numbers and call that a huge success.  Well I can tell you its one of my biggest failures learning experiences ever.

The real deal was that I had ZERO experience on how to run a subscription site and what I did learn came from a very costly trial and error education.  While we made millions I have no doubt we lost 2-3x more because we really had no clue what we were doing.

Why do I bring this up?  Well a couple weeks ago I did a interview with Yaro and before the interview we talked about subscription revenue.  Yaro frickin GETS IT probably as much if not more than anyone I have ever talked to about making money from subscriptions.

This morning Yaro emailed me his new Membership Site Masterplan guide which talks all about his techniques on creating a subscription revenue site.

Its awesome stuff and I highly recommend you signup for it right now.

ShoeMoney.com Must Reads (IMO)

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

Darren Rowse emailed me a couple weeks ago and said he was doing a project called 31 days to a better blog. Its pretty slick basically every day in April you get a new post/chapter on how to make a better blog.

A.D.D Sidenote – If you are a blogger or thinking of starting a blog you should read Problogger every day. Its one of the few sites out there that

Anyway I was honored when Darren asked me to contribute to one of his posts (and many other bloggers) by asking us which of our posts we considered “must reads”. He then choose 1 of them and posted it. I thought I would share all 3 I submitted to him with you:

1) I Used To Be Fat – written May 14th 2006

This post was one of the most difficult for me to write but its by far the one that people email me about the most. The whole reason why blogs work is because you can be personable and connect with your readers. In this post I share the most life changing event in my life with my readers.

2) Why You Should Embrace Negative Press – written Feb 21st 2008

Every blogger who grows in popularity is going to get flamed. When they do many of them stop in their tracks and run for the hills. I have had about 6 years of dealing with this and In this post I not only talk about how to deal with negative press but how to embrace it.

3) Worst Ideas To Make Money – written Sept 4th 2006

I think a lot of bloggers miss the fact you need to show your readers you are the same dumbass they are… or sometime dumberer. Its hard to connect with people when you always talk about how awesome you are. In this post I talk about some of the dumbest ideas I had in 2006 ( I mean to update this with 10 new ones every year just never get around to it.).

Anyway these were the ones I thought of off the top of my head.

Dont Be A Idiot

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

It always amazes me how many new people every day are coming into affiliate marketing.

Mix that into the fact that when you refer a new user to one of these affiliate networks you get between 2-5% of what they make.

I was talking to some affiliate companies at adtech last weekend and they were telling me how they have some people who are making thousands a day in referrals alone….. wow… I REALLY missed the boat on this one.

Now I do make a couple hundred a day from networks but its not from my link referals. Its because they actually said my name when signing up. I am guessing I am missing out on assloads of cash because I was a complete idiot and didnt use affiliate links with companies.

A couple days ago I purchased Maxblogpress ninja affiliate dealio and added my referral links in with affiliate.com and azoogleads just to see how many clicks it got.

So whats the lesson here? Don’t be a idiot like me. Go register right now for every affiliate company on the planet whether you use them or not then pickup maxblogpress and put in your codes.

How To Become A Successful Make Money Online Blogger

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

Many people credit me as the first make money online blogger. There were lots of IM before me but for whatever reason I seem to get a lot of credit. Whatever…. Either way the most common question I get is if you had to start over tomorrow what would you do. Well I can tell you how I got here and I notice its becoming a trend with others:

  • You fell into your niche after trying and failing and one day started raking in the cash. (for me it was ringtones)
  • You notice all these “Gurus” online talking about how to make money online but they seem out of date.
  • You start your own blog under a anonymous name and start to call out these gurus. You call the products they sell scams and what not. (I used to be hard on guys like Joel Comm and he rest of the ebook authors).
  • You start to write guides on what is working for you and start to get a following. (see my guides on ppc from years ago that are  now completely out of date).
  • You come out of your shell and start speaking at conferences. (for me this was about 4 years ago.)
  • Your original niche where you made all your money starts to die off so you start to leverage your blog following into building a REAL product. (We built a company called auctionads which was a pretty big success. We also started the elite retreat conference which is doing pretty good. Now we have shoemoney tools and lots of other things in the works).
  • You start to write your own ebooks and guides (which I used to make fun of people for doing).
  • You are now a guru and people attack you and call you a scam without knowing you at all. They also attack your audience saying anyone who listens to you is *sheep*
  • You talk about how your blog was never supposed to be your thing and it all just kind of happened because you like what you do

So why do such a high rate of people fail??

Well a lot of people try this and fizzle out because they never had the first component. They have no real experience and just talk in theories.

Also sometimes people are to scared to come out in the open and want to stay anonymous. Usually these people are full of shit and scared to come out of the closet. OOO but they will claim they “dont want the fame” – right that’s why you have a blog trying to tell the world how smart you are.

Most people dont have what it takes to launch their own product and eventually fizzle out.

Out of those who do launch their own product many don’t want to put in the work to make it through the dip.

OR those who do launch their on product crash and burn and cant take the heat of failure.

So what do you think?

AdTech Performance Marketing Conference Packed

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

I am here at AdTech San Francisco, I have not seen a conference this packed since… ever. Its pretty cool to see the performance marketing industry thriving even in this economic downturn.

The amount of parties and events going on is CRAZY. It reminds me of my early days in the SEO/Search conference industry when there was like 5 parties a night and they were all open to everyone who wanted to attend. Remember those days?

There are a couple SEO/Search conference goers here and its their first adtech conference. We were talking about how its unreal the amount of money companies are spending on brand awareness at performance marketing events.

Its kind of interesting to see even search companies dropping huge coin on parties and stuff here and doing nothing at SEO conferences anymore. Why? You would think it would make more sense for them to do advertises to SEO’s

Are SEO’s just not worth as much as performance based marketers to them?

What You Got

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

Last week I did a 77 minute interview with Yaro. Yaro just let me go and tell my life story from high school to present. That always dangerous for me cause often I give out a lot of stuff or talk smack when I should just keep my mouth shut… but its all good.

During the interview I talk about the 6 year journey where I went from a lot of the business we have built over the years… Many educational experiences a long the way that many would probably consider failures.

Also a long the way I talked about how we are now contributing financially/programmaticly/technically/marketing to lots of new businesses and if someone out there is hustling and needs a investor to contact us.

Well I think I was misunderstood because I got a FLOOD of emails from people with “ideas”. They claimed they had an idea for a great website (which they wont disclose of course) but they have no money and no experience and no confidence to try it themselves.

Why in the hell would I want to invest in a idea that the founder doesn’t even believe in himself to try it… ???

I started AND failed at trying many ideas while working 9-5. I was fired from 2 jobs most people would kill to have because I worked on my own stuff all the time… These are people we are looking for.

Ideas, programmers, and marketers are A DIME A DOZEN. People who are willing to put in hard work to get through the dip are in VERY short supply.

That is also why I said we don’t care about your technical ability or experience as much as your work ethic in regards to our summer internships

And speaking of those… well that is another post ;)

Programing & marketing I can train or get you training.

Work ethic and confidence in yourself I cant help you with.

So what you got?

Entrecard launches Huge Self-Service Ad Network for Blogosphere

Posted by Jeremy Schoemaker.

Okay so Entrecard just made a huge move that is sure to start bringing them a boat load of money. They just launched a self-service ad network for the blogosphere, using their existing base of tens of thousands of blog publishers as participants. I gotta say, it’s pretty bad ass.

Entrecard, for those who don’t know, is a widget network for bloggers. These widgets display 125×125 display ads of other member blogs. Bloggers use Entrecard because it’s one of the best ways for a small to medium size blogger to build their blog. Basically you earn virtual money and then spend it to

  • advertise on any blog in the network,
  • buy blogging related products and services in the Entrecard Market ,
  • hold contests and giveaways, etc.

In addition, just by being a member, you get traffic from their highly trafficked blog directory and thousands of members using their firefox toolbar ( kind of like the stumble toolbar, but only for blogs, and it lets you advertise on any blog with just a click). It’s basically everything you need to grow a blog from the ground up and its completely free. That’s why their growth over the last year is so huge.

Entrecard Ad Network open for business

So I just got pinged by Graham Langdon, the CEO of Entrecard, about their latest move. They have taken 50% of their 125×125 ad inventory inventory across the network, ( that’s a lot of impressions), and opened up a self service ad network.

Just to give you an idea of the inventory we’re talking here, here is the Entrecard blog network, measured against a monster blog like TechCrunch:

Traditionally, the Entrecard network has only been open to bloggers, but now with their ad network, they’re opening it up to third parties who adhere to these terms. This is good news to everyone who just wants to blast an ad across all of their tens of thousands of blogs. The rates are pretty good too: 60 cents CPM across the whole network or target a specific category for $1.20 CPM. That’s a pretty sweet deal, and any blogging related product/tools/services are sure to do really well because its such a highly targeted niche.

You can sign up as an advertiser here and login here .

A new way for bloggers to make easy money

The coolest thing about their new ad network is what they’re doing with the money. They’re passing 75% (yes, thats seventy five percent) of the revenue from their ad network back to the members by cashing out their credits so Entrecard members can make some serious money. Right now, they’re cashing out credits for $1.00 per thousand, but Graham says that within a few weeks they’re going to move it up into the $3 range.

The cool thing about this is that there are so many ways to earn credits. You can earn credits by

  • “dropping” on other blogs (basically visiting them and tagging their widget)
  • publishing on your blog
  • having other members “drop” on you (visit your blog and tagging your widget)
  • selling products and services in their market (people sell web hosting, graphic design, wordpress plugins and all sorts of things)
  • selling advertising on your blog
  • winning contests / giveaway

So aside from launching a kick-ass self service ad network for the blogosphere, they’ve also launched a new and unique way for bloggers to make money -participating in a real virtual economy. Rock and roll.

If you’re a blogger and you haven’t tried Entrecard yet, you gotta check it out.
