Just joined the FB group.
Have you considered setting up a branded social network for ShoeMoney?

Say on Ning?

Seth Godin had a lot of success with this, with his recent book. As did the Church of the Customer authors.

Cheers!

i think thats taking it too far… I actually never would have done the facebook page but someone did it and then facebook turned it over to me.

Nice!! I wish someone would do a facebook page for me so I wouldn’t have to do it myself lol – I’ll join up shortly! :)

I sent you an email about doing a guest post by the way – not sure if you received it, but I never got a response back

doubt it. Facebook is regulating for anyone who requests it. If only ICANN operated that way.

Interesting…
so what are you thinking of Facebook? Does it worth the time you spend on it??

I began using it mostly to personal things but i´me still gettint unsuded to an other social network that i was using .. xD

How about that… funny, I heard of Kanye West being impersonated on several social sites…

I guess FB and others are being more cautious now with who is representing what famous people. :)

Be it FB, Ning, or other… it’s beneficial for the audience that coalesces around an author or other thought-leader,

to be able to go from a 1-to-many communication model

to many-to-many.

Comments allow for that, but in a pretty limited fashion.

Done.

I saw on your FB page you’ll be speaking with Dwight on webmasterradio.fm tonight. We’re pretty big fans of LinkXL and have a growing account with them. I look forward to the show!

whats the benefit of that? i think visiting this blog is enough to know what you are upto, joining a fan group is waste of time.

12 Payday Loan Reviews February 5, 2009 at 3:45 pm

I disagree. I think its a big branding play. Go to where your users are gathering and leverage what is built already.

13 Hammad February 5, 2009 at 3:56 pm

but still whats the point, its silly.

Will shoe going to post something different on facebook? same stuff there….

same goes with twitter, what the purpose of getting ” hey good morning guys” messages….

i still think that will be a waste of time. but you dont have to agree me, its upto you, if you like go ahead and join it.

I have to agree I did not think it would be valuable … much like twitter… but thousands disagree so ;)

Heh, yeah that Twitter thing didn’t really work out for you. did it? ;)

I follow Gary Vee’s advice: never ever explain or justify how or why you use twitter. If people can’t figure it out, that’s just more market for you.

Facebook and twitter are also nice if you’re genuinely interested. Maybe you just aren’t and that’s fine. A lot of people like to interact with others in a “more live” way…

Thats great that you have a fan page on facebook, you should run a contest to see how many fans you can get.

How do you get a Fan page?

Reply

22 Classifieds February 5, 2009 at 6:59 pm

I think there’s an option to make one under advertising on facebook

Reply

23 Rick February 7, 2009 at 12:13 pm

Yup… link is at the bottom. Click “advertising”, then create a page. You can then start marketing it and see daily stats ..etc.

Very easy and quick :)

Do you think it’s more advantageous to create a fan page or a personal page. I understand that the choice is pretty clear for you … since you have a sick following – but what about the little guy / up-and-comers?

Any insights?
