Just getting back from Affiliate Summit West 2009. What a great conference. One of the best I have ever attended.
The Facebook advertising panel was great. Alex Schultz from facebook did an amazing job. Zac wrote a summary here.
The one point from the panel that I tried to get across to all audience members was that there is a HUGE market imbalance right now advertising on Facebook. If you are willing to put in the time and educate yourself you can do very well.
If you wait until the documentation is perfect and the ad approval system is perfect the market will have corrected itself by that time and you missed the boat.
COPEAC PARTY WAS OFF THE CHART
Ive been to probably 150 parties in the last 6 years at conferences and this was the bomb on so many levels.
1) Drinks were plenty. There was several open bars so it wasnt like the normal private parties where you spend all your time waiting to get 2 drinks.
2) Music was hot but not too loud. Another big problem with parties is you cant talk… sucks…
3) Lots of ladies – whether your on the prowl or a humble married man like myself its nice to not have the normal sausage fest.
Awesome job copeac.
Everyone go signup with them now. You don’t want to miss the next event…. trust me…

I would, if they would approve me.
They dont seem to crazy about newbies in the AF market nowadays.
January 17, 2009 at 6:13 pm
I know what you mean about newbvies., but Copeac accepted me in the first 24 hours of applying.
Unfortunately, Copeac also has this new thing where they only give high volume affiliates and people they’ve met the best offers.

Jeremy, when’s the Intel Core i7 winner announced?
January 17, 2009 at 10:52 am
i am going through comments now and will make an announcement of the winner monday as the post says (sorry thought it was today)
January 17, 2009 at 1:43 pm
Nice. Good luck to that lucky winner.
January 17, 2009 at 1:57 pm
You’ll be the first one I write a thank you comment to
January 17, 2009 at 2:11 pm
You’re welcome, in advance.
January 17, 2009 at 6:10 pm
Losers don’t usually write Thank You comments now, do they?
January 17, 2009 at 7:16 pm
You can let me know when you lose, loser!
I looked at all the entries.. Shoe asked for unique funny ones, and got exactly one such entry
January 17, 2009 at 6:11 pm
Meh, I probably won’t win, but it’s still very exciting to even have a chance at winning.
Kind of like the lottery.
January 17, 2009 at 7:19 pm
Not just you though. Only one person can win it. So there’s a whole lot of people not winning.
January 19, 2009 at 7:03 am
I hope I have some luck in this..
January 17, 2009 at 8:18 am
Agree with you,not many people advertise with facebook yet. At least not as much as adwords does.
January 17, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Visit facebook.. They have ads on each and every page now.. Even in the notifications!!!
January 17, 2009 at 6:12 pm
Yea, I have been noticing that Facebook is starting to display more ads. They also have banner ads now, but we can’t put them on.
January 17, 2009 at 5:12 pm
i advertise with facebook ,looks nice but you should pay much to get high quality traffic , but great way to earn from affiliates
January 17, 2009 at 8:44 am

January 17, 2009 at 9:02 am

The facebook panel did go well, and I’m looking forward to the improvements on the system.
January 17, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Indeed – I think facebook should have taken a user poll of their proposed changes before doing them
January 22, 2009 at 11:23 pm
What experience have you had with Facebook?
January 17, 2009 at 11:05 am
great post…its weird you mentioned Facebook ads today..just did a blog post on how to get $100 free ad credits on my post. Hope that can help anyone out there looking to make some ads and try for free.
January 17, 2009 at 12:06 pm
Agreed on the COPEAC party, that was amazing. Shoe, the pregame was pretty good too ; )
January 17, 2009 at 12:55 pm
Jeremy,
Your Facebook panel with Zac and Alex was informative and lively. It was good to hear that Alex was sincere in addressing the feedback from Affiliates regarding approval anomalies.
It was great that you spent some time visiting with me after your panel.
Respectfully,
Nicholas Chase

Free drinks + ladies = great time.
January 17, 2009 at 3:54 pm
Edit: Hot ladies
January 17, 2009 at 1:19 pm
Thanks for the posts Shoe and Zac. We’ll see how much progress we make by next year but I am feeling pretty confident. The feedback from all the affiliates at this conference to all 7 of us means that there is a much broader base of people inside Facebook that now understand the community and want to make it work and I’ve already seen that in action in the ads product meetings that happened last week. That being said I am sure we will still make mistakes so please stay with us as we grow into a large company. Looking forward to seeing you and the elite retreat folks here soon.
January 17, 2009 at 1:23 pm
Looks/sounds like it was a great panel and it looks like Alex and team are on top of things. Hopefully they take the concerns and complaints to heart and open the networks to a bit more of the mass market.
January 17, 2009 at 1:25 pm
Hey ShoeMoney!
It was nice to meet you in person at the Market Leverage dinner. I wish we could have chatted more but you were at the other end of the table. Switch at The Encore was amazing.
January 17, 2009 at 1:38 pm
Glad to hear you had a good time, and great pics!!
January 17, 2009 at 1:44 pm
Some pretty awesome pictures you have in the gallery there shoe. Looks like a pretty good time.
January 17, 2009 at 2:41 pm
That sounds like a rockin party. I bet there was a lot of action going on everywhere at the summit. Sounds like an appealing place to go.
January 17, 2009 at 3:06 pm
I got to hang out with Shoemoney @ the copeac party and all I have to say is that he is a party animal. Clearly he is not posting the pics where he jumped in the pool but ass naked. True story.
January 17, 2009 at 3:57 pm
Omg.. Check this pic out: http://www.ppc.bz/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/seizureaffiliates.gif

Seems like you had fun Shoe!
Maybe I’ll attend one of these events when I turn 18.
January 17, 2009 at 6:25 pm
BTW Shoe:
Have you stopped running the comment contest on here?
January 17, 2009 at 9:28 pm
I thought the whole ASW was off the hook. I’ve been recovering from it for the last 3 or 4 days. I’ve got so much work to do. Glad to get out and comment. I have some more personal pics over on my blog. Met some great people. Glad I could meet up with you Jeremy.
January 17, 2009 at 10:02 pm
Copeac really rocks and they create buzz for themselves in events like these…
January 17, 2009 at 10:27 pm
Did your wife followed you? I’m sure your wife won’t like to see you surrounded with a lot of sexy girls right?
January 18, 2009 at 12:31 am
sounds like a fun time, i hate i missed it
January 18, 2009 at 12:55 am
LOL It would have sucked if it was a sausage fest..
January 18, 2009 at 1:20 am
Wow, I know folks who would do everything to be there because: 1) Drinks were plenty. There was several open bars so it wasn’t like the normal private parties where you spend all your time waiting to get 2 drinks. AND 3) Lots of ladies – whether your on the prowl or a humble married man like myself its nice to not have the normal sausage fest. LOL!
January 18, 2009 at 1:39 am
Hey sport, every casino in Vegas has hot women all over the place and drinks are free at the tables.
When you grow pubic hairs and go there for vacation you will see.
January 18, 2009 at 2:02 am
Sounds like the event was a waste of money.
January 18, 2009 at 6:10 am
Cool! I’d love to attend major Internet Marketing events every year if I could. What separates me from going to these events would be funding. But I know, whatever the cost is, it’ll be definitely worth my while.
January 18, 2009 at 6:40 am
Looks like an awesome Summit. Good going there. BTW you will always find ladies on the dance floor where ever you go.
January 18, 2009 at 1:00 pm

January 18, 2009 at 3:48 pm

The ladies from online are very ugly in my country!

Hmm….
January 17, 2009 at 6:26 pm
I doubt Facebook will ever get as big as Adwords.
