Affiliate Summit West 2009 – It’s on!

by Jeremy Schoemaker on January 8, 2009 · 62 comments

Just got my copy of Feed Front magazine and in it there are some great articles by Zac Johnson and other well known Affiliate Marketers.  The theme for this month’s cover is “The Women Of Affiliate Marketing”. It’s nice to see the ladies of the industry featured and recognized.  There is a nice bio on each featured person along with how long they have been in the industry, what they do, where they work, and some other information about them.

Hats off to Feed Front for showing that Affiliate Marketing is not the sausage fest it seems.

So speaking of Affiliate Marketing… I am getting geared up for Affiliate Summit West!

My Schedule:

Sunday:

I get in on Sunday.  Long gone are my days of getting in a couple days before and leaving a day after.  I have 2 kids now… things have changed … for the better! Okay. So I get in on Sunday before noon. Then we are going to the Mirage where we are staying to check in. Then we will go to the RIO to register and hang out with the meet market.

Affiliate Meet Market
Location: Pavilion 8-11
Time: 12:00pm – 6:00pm

Exhibitor Move In: 9:00am – 12:00pm

Affiliate Summit kicks off with an extended session of structured, face to face networking. Merchants will have tables set to meet with affiliates to discuss their affiliate programs and cut deals. Vendors that cater to affiliates and merchants will also have tables to share information about their products and services. Each table is a meeting spot for teaching, learning, closing deals, creating partnerships and finding new opportunities.

On Sunday night, I have a few dinner invites but I’m still not sure what we are doing yet. (Yes, I’m waiting to see the best deal… JUST JOKING!)

Monday:

WE HAVE A BOOTH!!!!!  That’s right. We have a booth at the Affiliate Summit. The opportunity for us to get it just came about last week so we have been hustling trying to get everything ready.  Having a booth is a SHIT TON of work.  We have been totally busting ass to get everything ready.  And when I say we I of course mean Tigh.  Hopefully it’s not a ghetto booth!  But we did everything we could to put together a booth in 5 days.  Maybe it will be stellar…. maybe it will not.

I also was trying to get our friend Randy Couture (former Heavyweight Champion of the World!) to come and sign autographs in our booth… right now it’s looking like this isn’t going to happen. I think we’re a little too late on that but who knows.

Tuesday:

When I am not at the booth, I will be speaking on the “Advertising on Facebook” Panel:

Advertising on Facebook
Session 4d
Location: Classroom D – Miranda 7-8
Time: 11:30am-12:30pm

(This Session is Open to Platinum Pass Holders Only)

Learn about advertising on Facebook and how affiliates can reach over 100 million members. Join us for a panel discussion including a Facebook representative covering all you need to know.

Dan Murray, Internet Marketing Strategist, Ravenwood Marketing, Inc. (Moderator)
Zac Johnson, President / CEO, MoneyReign Inc.
Jeremy Schoemaker, President, ShoeMoney Media Group, INC
Alex Schultz, Facebook

Should be a great panel.  We are still seeing a massive dislocation in advertising on social networks like Facebook.  There is lots of money to be made there right now but it’s only so long before people become educated and the markets saturated. So now’s the time to educate yourself with this star studded panel!

At the booth we will be talking about ShoeMoney Tools.
Wednesday: Im outtie! I’ll be flying out early in the morning.

Please, if you see me introduce yourself.  Don’t worry if I am already talking to people.  I love to meet new people and have an attention span of 1 minute so it’s likely you are saving me from whoever I am currently talking to.

Everyone have a safe trip and see you at the Affiliate Summit West!

I would love to go to something like that but the times have hit me hard. Would you ever consider doing a raffle or contest in the future where the winner(s) would get a free ticket to the summit?

ya …. with the booth and stuff this time might not be much time for that.

17 Taris Janitens January 8, 2009 at 1:41 pm

Unfortunately, I’ve always found that on business trips, to make the most of it it’s always best to leave the fun stuff for other times – unless there is really the time for it, I think a business trip should be used making the most connections and marketing opportunities as possible

Jeremy is on diet, so that tends to curb the party behaviour a bit. The last night is usually reserved for a bit of an afterparty to enable exhibitors a chance to relax and unwind a bit.

I’m so proud of all the women in this industry and was excited to feature them.

Looking forward to seeing you and Tigh!

So what goes down at these conferences? New technology and techniques on how online marketing can be made easier.

Reply

21 PHPGator January 8, 2009 at 1:21 pm

Do you got to any southern type conferences? I’m not aware of any because I’ve never been to one. But I might pick one up if there is some good panels there. The topics sound really interesting at affiliate summit. It doesn’t look like they do any in the Texas area though.

I won’t be making it down there this year, but would have liked the opportunity to meet you, Shoe. Putting all the crap behind us, you’re a respected member of the affiliate community. I’d like to shake your hand one day.

Living in South Africa it is quite frustrating to just read about all the marvellous events, without being able to attend them. Our currency is 10:1 vs the dollar, and that kind of exchange rate makes travel and accommodation to the states extremely expensive! So enjoy good people, I look forward to hearing your accounts of the event over the internet.

Hmm not sure what this has to do with my heartfelt moment ;)

Yeah, I know what you mean SEO Tips. I would love to attend these events too, but our currency just isn’t allowing for that for us ordinary folks.

What will you say about the fly diet? Is it really the latest fashion in dietetics?

Reply

Hahahahahah! I’m sure that no matter how well one promotes a diet like that, it just wont prove to be popular! Can you imagine a real “fly diet”?
