Gyutae Park of winning the web put together a great post about How To Be A Top Internet Marketer.
I think it has some really good tips for people looking to become an authority in the space.
This post was spurred by the Invesp Consulting top 100 internet marketers of 2008 list. I was ranked #11 in this list and if they would have spelled my name right I would have linked to it.

from experience, the best and absolute way:
run a radio ad, have a seminar ($5 admission) and at seminar have them receive $5 for each person they refer to sign up and attend next seminar, pay them the $5. viral. worked for me.
I would have to agree that networking is one of the best resources that the new business person has especially on the internet. Being able to network with others is basically what everyone does, trying to get a link on another person page and have them linked to someone else and them linked to someone else and so on and so on.
Thanks

Hey Jeremy,
Thanks so much for the mention! I really appreciate that. Hope you have a happy holidays with the fam!
Good article.
As for the list, it’s interesting that Arianna Huffington’s HuffPo made it because a couple of days ago, they were accused of stealing content from other sites.
I loved the article. I also love your site. I am new to the internet marketing game and really enjoy when other before me can help me out. I have tried a lot of different things and then hooked up with Alex Jeffreys as my coach and he turned me on to your blog.
Thanks again and have a wonderful holiday season.

What about fear tactics and brute force .. it seems to be very profitable for many governments .. how can we apply these same strategies .. without going to jail that is? Whoever figures it out stands to make a nice chunk of change.
Very good tips indeed.
great post cheers
I am new to Internet marketing and it does take a lot of smart work to get it right and time. You will not do this in one day and need to take action on a regular bases. You have a lot of great advice that people should follow, including me.
Keep up the good work,
Mike
Great Article! Real worth the read, as even the most experienced can pick up a few pointers!

Thanks for the link, very good.
this was a great post – thank you for pointing it out. It always seems everything you need to do to be successful is always common sense
great ranking bos….. good job
“and if they would have spelled my name right I would have linked to it. ”
L – fricken – OL!
Number 11 ? Shoe. I would think you would have been in the top 10. These are great tips. Fake it till you make it is so true. I started my first business when I was 18 painting houses and only knew the basics. I faked it for the 1st few years as I learned. I got most of my work by sounding authoritative and showing customers my previous work. Funny thing about the trades is simply calling people back and answering the phone gets you more work than the competition. Same thing with SEM. Post lots and be authoritative. Answer questions and if you don’t know how send users to a place their ?s will be answered
Thanks for the link..mr Schoemaker. I appreciate it so much and get to understand more about the effectiveness of an online marketer.
Do check out my recently launched love blog at Cupid Blogger Dot Com, Merry Christmas to you…
Lolz…Reading More They Also Spelled your name wrong..that’s lolz…
Really Nice Tips for me..
Congrats on cracking the list Jeremy!
I still hold my opinion that it’s very clever linkbait, though.
The Invesp list just proves the importance of doing your homework and making sure your achnor text is formated properly.
Congrats on the list and thanx for the link to the how-to. It was good break down on what to do. I disagreed with the fake it till you make, but that left seven very good points.
LOL I noticed you hit them with a whammy and typo’d their name as well.
This achievement can be safely observed as a holiday. -)
Interesting Article I have to say those are some pretty good points he mentioned.
That is weird that they didn’t spell your name correctly. They should probably fix that. It doesn’t look very professional having a mistake like that.
I mean, I’ll admit… its hard to remember how to spell your last name, but whenever I write about you or provide some kind of reference, I take like 5 seconds to get the spelling on your about me page. I’d be put off by this too slightly.
I have to agree with you especially a Misspell with someones name, that’s horrible
Especially when you’re mentioning some of the most powerful people on the internet.
Great article – thanks for sharing!
(sorry that they misspelt your name! my name – Celestine – gets misspelt often so I know how you feel)
They forgot to put a “c” in your name and lost a lot of traffic.
It’s a fine article, but you can find the exact same list of vague success tips in every “turn around your life” book on the market. Actually implementing those tips takes a whole ‘nother set of skills.
Nice article there
and wtw is my one of the favorite blog
Thanks for sharing that. Very well written. Congrats on the high ranking
Thanx for the link.
Thanks for the article, I just started researching and this is an excellent jumping off point for me.
Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for the link. I especially like the part of point #2 about telling my story. As a beginner, it’s one of the things I’m doing on my blog.
By the way, about someone misspelling your name, I guess I know exactly how you feel
Warm regards and thanks again for the link,
Rov

Great link there. You don’t need a degree in marketing to successfully brand yourself…but it sure helps. Consistency is the key.
Just like a degree in computer science, it helps but not necessary.
The school of hard knocks is as effective in moulding one’s knowledge base, as it adds the hands-on aspect no degree can prepare you for.
This is a great article. Lots of good points.
“Find a specialty and stick to it – be known for something
It’s a lot easier to be known for something than to be known for everything.”
Very interesting article indeed…the line above was my favorite because I truly believe that you need to focus and drill down within your niche to become an expert in an area – you cant be a jack of all trades and this article clearly explains the why’s – thanks for sharing Jeremy.
I agree, this is the right idea.
Yes, as long as its not the “make money online” speciality. Think the same guy wrote an article why NOT to make a “make money online” blog. It’s like garyvee said, find a passion, stick to it, and you’ll make a killing doing it.
Very nice, I like some of the points in the article. It takes hard work to become a top marketer though..
That is why you will be called a “TOP” marketer not “just another marketer”.
With all the MMO and Internet Marketing Marketing blogs on the web… the top 100 list is by FAR, the top 1%, maybe even slimmer than that! Surely… you knew you would make it…
Some on the list are just whack, out of order… but many of the others are right in place! I have found that on some of these ranking lists, you are better off in the top 15, or BOTTOM 15… they seem to get viewed the most by people checking out the BEST, and then looking at who they need to beat, to make the top 100 list!
Congrats…
Good points!! You gotta wonder where some of the top lists come from. First criteria should always be traffic if you ask me – just a matter of finding all the high profile blogs to make an accurate list, as there are clearly many on the internet
Congrats on being the #11 IM-er in 2008 Jeremy
Yea I saw the list on another blog actually and sent you some congrats in another post of yours!! I’m sure you can crack the top 10 next year – just one more away!
Lol shame on their typo!
With all the exposure garnered they should be fixing up their typo pronto, I hope! Here your online reputation management programme comes into being….
that sucks, I have had the same thing happen when getting mentioned in newspaper articles and different things. The worst part is my name is fairly common and easy to spell
It’s worse for me, lol.
Most people end up calling me Tushard because they think my last name is hoot.
Heck, even my own friends used to think that.
Hi Jeremy, sorry about the misspelling. We’ll make sure to fix that sometime today
slackers… He’s always picking on people about that and you still got it wrong! j/k
Maybe he’ll link to you once you’ve fixed it.
I heard that some people actually spell the name “Shoemaker” and not “Schoemaker”.
I think it was on CSI?
That is a great article, thanks for the link shoe!
Yeah thanks for the post. I would actually like to give this a try myself.
Yea! Thanks for the link, Jeremy!
i’d like to say the same thing, anyway i bookmark that site and would love to share and linking back to that post in my blog. I’m sure i’m gonna use that tips in next year, i’m sure i will!!
