On Monday evidently it was official that we have been in a recession for over a year. Honestly our business has grown enourmously during this time. After talking with other marketers and companies they all seem to agree that people are spending money on items that bring value to their business.
I will be honest I was really nervous about having the Elite Retreat conference this year. But with 2 and a half months left we are about 2 seats away from being sold out.
Also we launched ShoeMoney Tools about the same time the markets started tanking but they are doing awesome
. We continue to bust out and improve the tools and pickup new users every day.
Now all the junk out their will be suffering… no doubt. But if you have a product of value then I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
So at ShoeMoney Media we have decided to not participate in this recession and I made a little video about it.
Thanks to Zoomiscooters for the scooter! You guys rock!

I think it’s “there” instead of “their”. Anyways, nice post man, if you’d like delete this comment if you fix the error.
December 3, 2008 at 1:47 pm
Are you stil going to keep a big car for your family
December 3, 2008 at 1:50 pm
My wife has a Buick Enclave and we still have a truck that we use mainly for the kids.
December 3, 2008 at 4:09 pm
Ooh Buick.
What’s the fuel economy on that?
December 3, 2008 at 1:27 pm
I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic, or you’re genuinely planning on driving that thing – much less in that weather you’re in.
December 3, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Haha, there is snow on the ground.
Lucky you’re in Omaha. You wouldn’t be able to get on the street with that thing in Canada, we have like 1-2 feet of snow.
December 3, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Then how everyone travel?
December 4, 2008 at 3:37 am
Snowmobile babe!
December 3, 2008 at 1:29 pm
Like wtf man!
December 3, 2008 at 1:41 pm
That’s not a scooter. I have a scooter. http://www.browie.com/sweet-scooter/
December 3, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Haha, I thought it was pretty funny. I kept thinking the whole time “is he really about to ride that thing with no gloves on”.
I used to rent scooters and ride in downtown Waikiki when I was living in Hawaii. DEFINITELY a fun thing to do!
December 3, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Haha, I used to live in on Seaside Ave. in Waikiki and took a scooter around a few times. However, I was almost hit by a car almost every time. Sure miss Hawaii…
December 4, 2008 at 12:17 am
I got rid of my gas guzzler, and invested in a motorcycle myself. Not quite a scooter, but not quite a superbike either. It saves on gas, servicing bills and time in traffic. No more gridlock for me! It is inherently much more dangerous too, but that makes life a bit more exciting!
December 3, 2008 at 1:43 pm
I don’t think the down market will last too many more months, but even when it’s over the job market will be different. Even the good sometimes lose their gigs during times like this. I just saw this recently. It happens for many reasons.
December 4, 2008 at 8:34 am
The recession will occur for a long time.
December 6, 2008 at 8:02 pm
but not for everyone….
December 3, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Now thats real!
suwoop!
…should have def. gotten that thing up to top speed and did the skid though
Good work.
December 3, 2008 at 2:13 pm
that was top speed
December 3, 2008 at 3:47 pm
Can you put chains on that thing? Now that would be intense…
December 3, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Oh..
Well I look forward to seeing some jumps then.
February 9, 2009 at 1:58 pm
What was the speed 25mph? The speed of smell?
December 3, 2008 at 3:01 pm
I loved the little spin outs in the street. X-Treme!
December 3, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Nice… looks like fun.
December 3, 2008 at 3:39 pm

December 3, 2008 at 3:59 pm

December 3, 2008 at 4:03 pm

December 3, 2008 at 6:28 pm
I loved the end bit made me laugh abit lol
December 3, 2008 at 6:59 pm
I think recession is actually great for internet marketing, especially corporations are moving all retail to online ads. Of course, if you still have a job, you need to get out and do your own thing or at least work for an internet-related company.
December 4, 2008 at 12:20 am
I agree. Internet real estate costs loads less than shopping centre rentals, that much is for sure! Commuting and all those other issues associated with a “regular” business operating from fixed premises / showroom are eliminated too. The best is that I roll out of bed, get onto the computer and start working. No getting ready and pretty for work, then commuting. That’s an hour and a half saved each morning already!
December 3, 2008 at 7:48 pm
the effects of recession are seen on our business.
good that you are doing well ..
December 3, 2008 at 7:49 pm
I think the seeds of a product or service that “Adds Value” for customers is starting to bear fruit particularly in challenging financial times.
This bodes well for the future, particularly when the economy recovers and improves once again.
December 3, 2008 at 8:11 pm
Hilarious! I woke up to the same weather today here in Lincoln. Lame…Id rather have a foot of snow on the ground than a trace. It’s just annoying.
If it’s all right with you, I think I choose not join the recession either.
December 3, 2008 at 9:05 pm
pretty funny, I liked the donut part, it was perfectly done..
December 3, 2008 at 9:32 pm
The scooter was a perfect post-Hummer, anti-recession choice. I give you kudos, I have always been scared to drive anything with only two wheels on snow.
December 4, 2008 at 12:22 am
I won’t go there either. We don’t have much snow in South Africa, but loads of rain, and I don’t ride on wet slippery roads if I can avoid it.
December 3, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Now Dr. Shoemoney is promoting your posts!
December 3, 2008 at 10:18 pm
I had a friend who gave me some advice when I told him I was thinking about buying a scooter that I feel I should share. He said: “Owning a scooter is kind of like dating a fat chick… It’s fine as long as no one else sees you.”
These words of wisdom stick with me even today. Funny post man. Good point about recession /performance driven online advertising.
December 3, 2008 at 11:14 pm
If you have quality then dont worry anything.
December 4, 2008 at 12:34 am
So would you suggest this as a good time to start up a car enthusiast blog ; )
December 4, 2008 at 12:41 am
What!?…Common dude…I thought you were rock’n a Harley…or a rice rocket atleast…but a scooter!? Ahaahaaahaaa
December 4, 2008 at 1:17 am
To be honest, I don’t agree something about No Recession For Online Marketers That Bring Value
December 4, 2008 at 2:45 am
Dang…no epic Shoemoney face plant
-Mike
December 4, 2008 at 3:15 am
thanks for video shoe….I hope the recession will go away soon…..
December 4, 2008 at 1:22 pm
the recession is a good thing in some way…makes you analyze yourself, your business and forces you to be more efficiently, which will be a good lesson down the road.
December 4, 2008 at 6:00 am
LOL The whole time I’m thinking you’re about to get on a Ducatti or something then you start peeling out on that scooter omg…
December 4, 2008 at 6:06 am
scooters really make fun
I always enjoy riding mine in summer but it’S friggin cold if you need to use them during the winter
and I think the recision will be over faster if we don’T care about it
December 4, 2008 at 6:09 am
That’s not balla. at all.
December 4, 2008 at 8:10 am
Love the scooter, great news that you are doing so well, as you say have a good product and things will work through for you, I think it will shake lose the weaker players.
December 4, 2008 at 8:36 am
Dude, it looks like you are participating in the recession. First, you shop at K-mart now this? Times are hard.
December 4, 2008 at 1:20 pm
oh well, I wish to be in Shoe’s place.
December 4, 2008 at 8:47 am
Business on the Internet will be more protected from the crisis. This is leading analysts say.
December 4, 2008 at 8:55 am
Hahaha you are awesome. I love how guys making millions don’t give a shit about the fancy cars and everything, you go out and buy a scooter in the winter…priceless.
December 4, 2008 at 9:26 am
I bought a scooter like that from ebay once and it fell to bits half way down the road. Looks like yours is far better quality!
December 4, 2008 at 10:27 am
I am really feelin’ your style. You are living your dream and havin’ a blast. I respect that and I commend you for it. BLESSING, HARMONY, PEACE!!!
December 4, 2008 at 10:32 am
shoemoney.com is recession proof because its the best plain and simple
December 4, 2008 at 11:18 am
Gee I sure hope we are in a recession…
December 4, 2008 at 11:30 am
I’ve seen the same thing. I have clients that are cutting back in certain areas but investing in improving their web site and expanding online marketing. I’ve also picked up more contract clients because the business laid off their in house staff.
Business in Houston was almost at a halt for three to four weeks due to Ike, and then there was a lot of uncertainty after the election over tax changes that might be coming down the road, but people are starting to make changes and take action now.
December 4, 2008 at 1:05 pm
Cheers for the video. Lol, but, to be serious here, I hope recession is gone soon, so that people who do suffer from it will get back on their feet.
December 4, 2008 at 1:19 pm
you’re so right in your article. If your product has value, then you don’t have anything to worry about. You might even be in advantage after all. All those with unworthy products/service might go bankrupt.
December 4, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Can you get snow tires for it? Or but chains on the wheels?
December 4, 2008 at 3:43 pm
I agree, at the end of the day its about value – I definitely love your twist on things and the video is awesome! Thanks for sharing and giving hope by sharing your thoughts with us….
December 4, 2008 at 3:49 pm
Did you really buy that Scooter? I would think they would give it as a free gift for the promotion
– no fair.
December 4, 2008 at 4:53 pm
man that weather looks coooooold but i like the “not taking part in this recession” ‘tude!!!
December 4, 2008 at 6:46 pm
I’m in Bandung, Indonesia “is still a Vespa Piagio 1963
and can still be used to serve the day-to-day activities for both business or family.
December 4, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Older vehicles if maintained properly can still be used to support the purposes and activities of our work.
December 4, 2008 at 7:13 pm
My god shoe, your fucking crazy.
First, I knew it would be cold out, no problem there, considering your all jacketed up and shit. But when you hop that curb and I see snow…I hope that’s not what you traded in for the hummer. Becare man, we don’t to hear about the owner of Shoemoney media getting hit by a car on the new scooter he got.
December 4, 2008 at 7:43 pm
December 4, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Haha lol Shoe that was hilarious! Thanks so much for making the video! I also got a really great blog at http://www.zoomilife.com
December 4, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Hey… I’m glad that you aren’t suffering from a recession over at your company! Of course, there are always industries that benefit when other industries suffer… and it’s even better when your industry can still do great when the others recover.
Anyway… my comment is mostly about your scooter, actually. It’s quite dangerous to ride a two-wheeled vehicle in the snow! I don’t know exactly how many people in Europe do it, but it does seem like a lot. And as you demonstrated, it’s really easy to slide the vehicle around when there’s snow on the road. Hmm… it may not be such a good idea to ride that thing around when there’s snow on the ground!
December 5, 2008 at 8:35 am
Plus companies right now who spend or have spent a great deal of cash on offline are really starting to shift gears and focusing on online during this recession.
December 5, 2008 at 10:43 am
cool thing, and very efficient lifestyle
December 5, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Right now I’m also doing better than I have in months. It just goes to show you, if you offer quality products or service, you can thrive in any situation.
December 5, 2008 at 4:12 pm
I think it’s funny that they felt the need to announce it. My first reaction was “No shit, Sherlock”.
December 5, 2008 at 5:40 pm
The recession is here and is coming to a theater near you, and even if you live in Nebraska, it will get there eventually too, so prepare for it as opposed to denial. It will last years not months That much is clearly on the wall friendos.
December 6, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Yes the depressions is world wide, it’s frightening but we have to do our best to get over it.Having skills and many talents in other area is a plus point to survive in this hurricane.
December 7, 2008 at 8:57 am
Get the mercedes c63….. i’m putting one on order this month.. fastest and stylish for the money.
December 8, 2008 at 10:22 am
Recession is everyone nightmare not just for professional blogger but for all people around the world who having this huge blast after the biggest economy recession in USA.
December 8, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Who knows what the (global) economy is going to do. You might think the fact there’s less money out there to purchase the products and services affiliate marketers are marketing would cause the affiliate marketing business to slow down. But it sounds like it’s full speed ahead.
December 8, 2008 at 11:30 pm
Really – a recession – you don’t say?
This is dumb news – like when they say eating a lot is bad for your health.
Thanks for the great blog – I check in once a week now.
December 18, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Our business is doing quite well with the recession. Especially this time of year.
LMAO at the vid shoe. First time I saw it. Way to pull snow donuts!
December 9, 2008 at 12:26 am
try to survive in recession ….. by doing the best, thanks the video
December 10, 2008 at 8:29 pm
You’re a pimp man!
December 11, 2008 at 2:51 am
Recessions are a great time to move ahead and innovate.
December 11, 2008 at 9:59 am
People buy what they want not necessarily what they need.
December 16, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Yeah Ive seen that with many people
December 11, 2008 at 10:18 am
Cool video hehehe – I definitely think that online marketers such as bloggers have a bit of an edge in this recession, considering the fact that much of their income simply comes being able to sell their traffic to advertisers. As more people stay home, the internet will become busier, albeit they might not be shopping as much.
December 15, 2008 at 12:19 am
Once the big 3 will figure out how to make money from selling electricity, we will have electric cars that can go 1000’s of miles.
December 17, 2008 at 7:07 pm
we are seeing this same thing our web traffic is growing. I think it has a lot to do with people staying home and not going out as much.
December 18, 2008 at 9:54 pm
This might sound wrong to some people but recession can actually be good for bloggers who are in the niche of how to make money .. the less people have the more they will be willing to give in order to turn it all around. And if it does fail just get into firearms & ammunition and wait for a war to break out.
December 23, 2008 at 6:04 am
Web 2.0 Recession does it exist ? NO, in fact our revenues have doubled in the past few months…we set up a Web 2.0 free online advertising portal http://www.whynotad.com/ and because of the recession people are adding more and more ads – from selling old clothes to houses.. Bring on the recession.
January 7, 2009 at 10:51 am
I was totally convinces that you were going to walk out and get on like a Harely or some crotchrocket but no you walk out and get on a scooter. Nice, what kind of gas milage do you get with that thing? 80, 90
I have also wanted to do those poker runs I have seen them a couple of times but ahlast I have no bike to do them on.
April 29, 2009 at 2:19 pm
or DJs! Every sector is down, but DJs always need gear. Of course, we always try to accomodate any request too.
June 19, 2009 at 12:53 am
Because more and more people wants to make money and they are searching for the new lanes.
Internet is also one lane which not utilised by common people because of engagement of computer and long term reading patience.
But however time is changing now and people started to take this lane as well.
