ShoeMoney Busted Drunk Driving Homicide

Last weekend on Saturday night I was invited to go out with a bunch of my friends.    We went out and I had way to much to drink got behind the wheel of my car and ran someone over.  Just like that some stupid decisions ruined what I had worked so hard for all my life until that point.  Then I woke up.  It was a bad dream.

It really made me think how easy something so horrible like that can happen.   I don’t think I have operated a motor vehicle under the influence since college but in my dream the situation seemed to just happen.

This holiday season please don’t put yourself in a situation where you end up driving drunk.

And on that note.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Title of this post really attracts me but however we found it really useful with public message.

Thanks Jeremy for spreading nice message in style.

  2. Blogging Tips

I had a similar experience .. was up late .. things got a little crazy .. next thing I knew I had killed 5 hookers, stolen a car and was in a high speed pursuit .. Then the cat jumped up and knocked the Playstation over and my Grand Theft Auto restarted without saving .. man that was a bad night.

  3. Typhoon

If you Drink Then Don’t Drive..Be your own Guardian Angel..
(I borrowed this line from MTV)

  4. Jamie

Have a look at this great seasonal anti drink driving video (i think its from MTV)…

  5. Massive Traffic

You could afford a driver but why would you spend money anyway. if only some of your friends wasn’t drunk… who knows.

  6. ATLANTA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

as it is always said….it takes a life time to build your success and a moment from a bad decision to take it all away

  7. Tatil Yerleri

Now “thats” what I call great advice:). The good thing here in san francisco is there are a ton of cabs.

  8. Amy

Wow. Don’t you sometimes wish successes came as quickly and easily as failures? I guess they call that the lottery. :P

  9. jackie sheeler

bravo to you for writing this post, and for writing it in the very immediate style that you used. had me on the edge of my seat.

this is a great reminder for people at this time of the year.

  10. The Almost Millionaire

Great post, The sad truth is that my brother in law went out and almost did that. He got a DUI before he hurt anyone though.

  11. Red

DUI is such a serious issue and getting caught one time will change your life in a bad way. It’s just not worth the risk or getting caught. And like a previous comment said, you could be driving perfectly and get hit by someone else, totally out of your control and yet, you’re in big trouble. It’s just not worth the risk.

    Great post, btw!

  12. Local Price

Who knows. Maybe it was a prediction that saved someone’s life and your alive life too. You can ignore those type of things because maybe – just maybe – they are true.

  13. James

So true, drinking and driving is not worth the risk. Even if you’re among the hardheads that think you drive “better” while intoxicated, the law begs to differ. I’m glad your experience was just a dream.

  14. Jumpy

Its worth the cab money – don’t drink and drive. It helps to have a pregnant chick in your circle of friends, that’s an automatic designated driver.

  15. Bongs and Weed

Yeah drink driving is no laughing matter.

  16. LayupDrill

I had to read that twice lol

  17. Goran Website

Damn, now that was a nightmare. Great message Shoe, people tend to be wreckless over the festive season. Thank you for the announcement.

  18. Gumbosan

Nice. The best advice you’ve ever given..

MAN THAT HAD TO BE THE MOST INTENSE PARAGRAPH IVE READ IN A LOOOONG TIME.

    well done :)

  19. Matt Helphrey

Very good advice. Its just not worth it. Save yourself a DUI and take a cab instead.

  20. Stephen

Great post. I was going huh?!!… Then I seen you woke up. I thought the jails were getting even more relaxed. Scared me there for a sec. I can say I have been behind the wheel under the influence and what is scary is that when I woke up the next day I couldn’t remember how I got home. Thanks for the reminder and I will too stay safe this holiday season.

  21. wisdom

Wise words, will hopefully help save some lives and prevent injury.

  22. purposeinc

Next time you hit someone in a dream, can you pick someone else? That hurt! I woke up with my shoulder all scuffed up, and that damn shoemoney embem on your scooter indented into my forehead!

  23. Nicholas Chase

Jeremy, Oh…that was a scary dream. Every bar should have an alarm that goes off at the door, you have to breathe into a tube, and if the red lights and siren are triggered you are gently guided to the ‘no-driving allowed’ room for a free trip home. I know some Mom’s and Dad’s who would have welcomed such a service. So many wasted innocent lives..

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Respectfully, Nicholas Chase – ‘the video guy’ at BlogWorld Expo 2008

    • Gumbosan

Not such a bad idea. :)

      Merry Christmas

  24. TYCP Entertainment Magazine

Well, good thing it was just a nightmare.

Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

  25. Gamer

    Happy turkey day to all!

  26. Nashville

Wow, started reading it on my blackberry and thought wow no way. Then I got on my PC later and actually read it instead of just going through it. Great point you made.

  27. Diana Rupert

Good to know it was just a dream. But never do drive when drunk because it is really dangerous for you and the others.

  28. Epiphany

I remember watching Oprah one time and she had this family that were in a limo that was hit head-on by a drunk driver. The mother told her story… I was in tears as she recounted sitting on the side of the road while she held her 7 year old daughters severed head. I was horrified just listening to her. Oprah asked her what she hoped to accomplish by telling her story and she said, “Don’t drink and drive.. not even one drink.” I have never forgotten that woman and the image she painted of that night. I will never drink and drive out of respect for her and the memory of her daughter. I still get shivers just thinking about it. :(

  29. big jason

if you’re cool and can have a good time without drinking, no need to worry about this stuff

  30. youfoundjake

I can’t imagine a city that doesn’t have a cab company that will offer free rides on holidays to drunks.

  31. dean

You drunk drove while in college and seem to gloss over the fact? your a bloody idiot.

  32. montage

I couldn’t agree more. Not worth it at all. Don’t drink and Drive and make arrangements BEFORE you go out. Alcohol affects your judgment, and when you make the decision on the spot while under the influence, its never good.

  34. TheMoneyac

As I read it, he states it’s a dream but right at the beginning I was like No Way!

However, Everyone here should know shoe would have a Limo or a chauffeur.

BTW, this is a true story, Jeremy can’t start his car up until he passes the in-house breathalyzer.

  41. hoodmonkey

    Did you run over me?

  42. tkada.com

Of course, it is inevitable in such a kind of situations, just enjoy, nothing wrong in it, but we should try to comfort ourselves in a safer side (not possible always but almost) be prepared not only for enjoyment but also a small plan after the occasion how to post us safe home, and as u safe home have more.., (not injuring ourselves and disturbing others simultaneously)

  43. Önder

if i have a driving licence i will help you for no money:)

  44. Zurpit

Wow that is one scary dream, no one should ever drink and drive

  45. Tom - StandOut Underground

The quick and simple solution is ‘don’t drink’ cause then you can never drink drive :P

  46. Jason Winn

Totally agree. My buddy got busted for drunk driving because some one hit him! Goes to show that you don’t have to be the one who hits some one, just be drunk and be involved in an accident and you’re still up a creek.

For a DUI here in the states you’re looking at minimum $5000 in legal fees, a night in the tank, and about a year of AA meetings. Not worth it at all.

    • Zurpit

Yea its not worth it, one night of fun can lead to alot of trouble

  47. Seo Creations

Never mix drink and driving …… HAHA

  48. Weightloss Products

I hope everyone that is going to drink heeds this warning not to drink and drive.

Keep in mind “Free cab month” [officially safe ride home month] arrives in Omaha on Monday! Its the once a year for a month reprieve by making the right choice and using a cab instead of driving “deal” sponsored by Hauptman O’Brien in OMaha.

(Disclosure: I have nothing to do with Hauptman O’Brien but free cab is always welcome in my book. Make sure to tip well!)

  53. DollarDevil

Drinking and Driving is a numbers game. YOU’RE GOING TO LOSE!!!

    Happy Holidays

  54. Advice From Barry

Now “thats” what I call great advice:). The good thing here in san francisco is there are a ton of cabs.

  55. IamJustinM

I don’t know about Nebraska, but in CA if you get a DUI you might as well be charged with murder. They throw the BOOK at you. And rightfully so. A $20,40,60, or even $100 taxi cab is pennies compared to what you’ll pay if you get a DUI.

I used to make the mistake of driving drunk, but I have since moved to a big city where taxicabs are everywhere and cheap.

Sucks living in rural/suburban areas where you have to drive 15-20 miles just to find a good place to kick it.

Nothing pisses me off more then hearing about someone getting killed by a drunk driver during the Holidays. Be smart! In CA during the Holidays signs are everywhere that say to call 911 if you see someone you even think might be a little bit drunk. I got cell phone in hand ready to do just that.

    • ways to make money online

I’ve heard of people calling 911 to pick them up cause they are drunk. Think about it, if you tell the cops your drunk and need a ride home, they will take you home.

    • BusinessX

The local news mentioned tonight that there was a nation wide law enforcement reminders/presence to dissuade from drinking and driving this holiday. Hopefully, the feds kicked down some bucks for cop overtime.

  56. gendut

shoe….too hard work, you need time more for enjoy this world….and also happy dream

  57. The Net Fool

    Jeremy that wasn’t a dream…
    …that was a “flashback”

    …I kid of course, haha
    Have a happy thanksgiving!

  58. EarnersBay

Dreams like that are often a real eye-opener, gives you a second chance, in a way.

  59. teamray

Lol you almost had me but i looked at the replies and knew since it was low it had to not be real.

  60. Dan

The other bad dream is you drink a lot, not so much that you can’t drive, man, you can hold your liquor and you always drive perfectly! Yet one night someone swerves across the median, in front of you and hits you head on. Totally, totally their fault, your airbag goes off and you survive. Theirs doesn’t and they die. Lots of witnesses testify, you were driving perfectly! But, since there is a death, its mandatory blood tests and since you are over the limit its a mandatory 5 year sentence before the possibility of parole….so much for being able to handle it.

  61. Freeman

My sister had this EXACT situation happen to her….sad stuff man

  62. BusinessX

Good words and hope everyone listens. In today’s age we all get cynical and jaded, but it just take a split-second. Makes me think of the times I have been out with friends on the weekend, only to find out Monday that something horrible happened on the way home. Never me but always the “other ones”. You can’t buck the odds forever. The only safe route is like making money, plan ahead.

  63. Cash Volume

OH man! the master link baiter strikes again! you got me that time good one Shoe! and yes your right its not worth it life is too precious! drunk drivers suck my nuts…..

  64. Ganesh

People should especially be careful before New Year as there are a lot of accident cases involving drunken driving. Happy thanksgiving.

  65. Darin Carter

  70. Raja Kamil

    Happy thanks giving man !

  71. Derek Halpern

Whoa…not even the slightest bit funny, but you make a great point. There are so many people who think they’re invincible.

Especially once inebriated! It never ceases to amaze me how the mildest mannered creatures turn into raging monsters when sloshed, and you can not reason with them!

  72. MikeJ

Yup, I was blown away with the title, glad to hear it was a dream, but a nice public service announcement for the holiday.

  73. Sonja

Thanks for posting Shoemoney! I’ve had dreams like that. Of course my transgression was something different, but the principle is the same. You do stuff in dreams you wouldn’t when you are awake.

    • SEO Tips South Africa

Sometimes is is truly a relief to wake up and realise that wasn’t your true reality. Sometimes we can learn the lessons without having to pay the price, thank goodness! The bottom line is that drinking and driving is something that can really ruin your life in the blink of an eye. Not a lesson any of us want to experience first hand.

  74. da buck

I had to read this three times before I saw it was a dream. I need some sleep.

    • gendut

      he..he..he….woke up….! enjoy a cup of coffee….

    • Ben Pei

Haha.. to be honest.. I read twice before realising it too!

  75. Ryan McLean

    Catchy title….crappy post
    You had me scared there

    • SEO Tips South Africa

This should prove to be an interesting keyword experiment. Wonder what Google is returning around these keywords……shoemoney drunk driving is #1 & 2, with twitter being #3….and as for “drunk driving” shoemoney is on the front page, under “blog posts about drunk driving”

Impressive stuff, it does indicate that pretty much whatever Jeremy decides to chat about is pretty much guaranteed front page placings on Google.

  76. FreePersonalizedTShirts

Getting a taxi and going back for your car tomorrow is a good way to stay safe.

Yes, I prefer not to risk. Happy Thanksgiving!
