Festival Of Trees

Posted on: November 22nd, 2008 by Jeremy Schoemaker

Traveled to my home town of Moline Illinois this weekend. Its only about a 5 hour drive but with 2 little girls under 2 1/2 took us about 8 hours.

Today we went to the Festival Of Trees which I never really have understood. When I was a kid I sang in a choir and always had to sing at this thing. It was kind of cool taking my little girls to it today. Also my sister Andrea came with us.

At the Festival Of Trees they have tons of home made trees for sale that people made. They must have some sort of a contest cause a lot of them had ribbons and stuff.

My favorite one was this Mt. Dew Tree:

It had a BIN of only $150 but the top bid was $20. I bet it cost $200++ to make this thing in pop costs alone.

Fun trip hanging out with the fam. Here is a pic of me and my sister:

And my daughter Juliet and wife Dr J:

I like that Jewel Osco was the Mountain Dew Tree sponsor, very savvy. Makes me wonder if they knew the concept before sponsoring.

isnt the urban legend Mountain dew shrinks testicles?

    • mohawkdonkeydotcom
      November 23, 2008 at 12:30 am

mountain dew has yellow number five. It doesn’t shrink your testicles. Yellow number five is made from bugs. That’s how they get the color. It’s from bugs. Everything comes from nature. Yellow number five comes from bugs. I love the dew and my penis and testicles are fine.

Methinks you’ve got a better chance of Jeremy growing his hair long. Ladies are usually very reticent when it comes to shaving their heads, unless your name is Britney Spears and you are having a personal crisis!

i LOVE those trees — especially the dew tree, but the stuffed animal tree is also very clever. i wish NYC would adopt something like this. every year it breaks my heart to see them drag a 70-foot tall old-growth spruce out to rockefeller center, trick it all out in lights and then throw it by the roadside (metaphorically speaking) in january. sad, i say!

I will follow my yearly tradtion after thanksgiving. Pass some Cheer around… Maybe you can send a SHOE tree to Wall Street. Cheer them up or they can throw it at ?????? :)
