Man I am so nervous for the fight tonight. David and I talked with Randy Couture on Thursday at his gym in Las Vegas and he seemed super composed (as always). Randy said they had a great plan and he is going to win. I would not expect him to say anything less
. I have met Randy Couture probably 8 different times now and there has never been any fighter that was nicer and more accomidating.
This fight is the biggest in UFC history and I suspect for those who miss it there will be a lot of video of the fight around the net.
Its tough for me to break down this fight. Obviously I want Randy to win. I will give it a shot and try to be objective.
I really only see 2 probable outcomes for this fight. Randy winning by decision or Brock winning by knockout. Even though Randy trains with the worlds best jitz guys ( Robert Drysdale ) , I don’t think its very likely he will be able to catch Brock in a submission, although I look for him to try more for subs then to work to standing if it goes to the ground. Wrestlers are always the hardest guys to knock out because when they get rocked their natural instinct is to clinch up and recover. This is why I don’t think its going to be likely either guy will get knocked out but Brock Lesnar has knockout power.
There are some other fights on the UFC91 card tonight:
Ryan Thomas vs. Matt Brown
I really like Matt Brown but newcover Ryan Thomas has almost Josh Koscheck like take down ability and even though Matt has MUCH better standup I look for Ryan to become the human blanket and win this fight on the ground..- Thomas by decision.
Alvin Robinson vs. Mark Bocek
This should be a awesome fight and I look forward to seeing this after the fact. If Kid Robinson can stay away from Bocek’s jitz he will be good to go..- Robinson by TKO.
Jorge Gurgel vs. Aaron Riley
How the hell does Gurgel keep making UFC cards? SERIOUSLY!!!! I dont think I have ever seen him win a fight. The UFC just keeps giving him cans to fight and he keeps losing to them.- Riley by Decision
Jeremy Stephens vs. Rafael dos Anjos
I look to Rafael to shoot a lot and Stephens countering with strong punches. – Stephens by KO
Televised Card
Dustin Hazelett vs. Tamdan McCrory
Hazelett is a badass with amazing jitz. – Hazelett by Submission
Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Josh Hendricks
The wildcard here is Hendricks. If he has the cardio and can keep away from Gonzaga’s devistating kicks/jitz he has a chance .- Gonzaga by TKO
Demian Maia vs. Nathan Quarry
This is a tough fight to call. I think Rock Quarry’s hands will overcome Maia’s jitz – Quarry by Decision
Kenny Florian vs. Joe Stevenson
Joe Daddy just recently was awarded his blackbelt but no matter. Florian will donminate the striking and jitz game from start to finish. The biggest weapon Joe Daddy has is his guillotine which is deadly… – Florian by TKO

I actually saw Brock wrestling live once!
November 15, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Brock Rocks
November 15, 2008 at 12:44 pm
That guy on the right is huge.
November 16, 2008 at 9:35 am
All other things being equal, a good big fighter will always beat an equally good smaller fighter. Lesnar also has youth on his ide at 31 years old, vs Couture being in his early fourties.
November 15, 2008 at 12:45 pm
I think Brock Lesnar is going to Knock out randy, I thnk there going to try go for all the rounds, but Brock is just too athletic and younger than randy. Will be a amazing fight though, Brock is just a animal! I really dont thnk randy could control him. Cant wait to watch it though!
November 15, 2008 at 12:56 pm
brock for sure, dude is a beast
November 16, 2008 at 11:46 am
You are sexy. name? any other pics? go BROCK!!
November 15, 2008 at 12:56 pm
So how much money you got on Randy?
November 15, 2008 at 2:16 pm
I stopped betting on MMA after losing about 1500+ earlier this year. And since I have been almost percfect in my last 25 pics (22/25)
November 15, 2008 at 2:25 pm
Yea, that’s how it usually goes.
Randy is old but has the record to prove he can still hang. Compared to Lesnar, he’s small. Might help might not depending this is UFC
Royce Gracie used to take guys five times his size down so we will have to see this one….
November 16, 2008 at 12:12 am
Tonight was a very good for betting, although I chose not to bet too much on the main events. Overall was a great night of fighting.
November 16, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Good decision.
November 15, 2008 at 1:00 pm
Brock Lesnar is one big mo fo. I still have to go with Randy on this one. He’s my favorite. He’s old school and he has technique and experience.
November 15, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Brock Lesnar is for a sure a animal, so many people under estimate him, saying this isnt the wwe. Many people just dont understand how powerful the guy is. He destroyed Heath in his 3rd MMA fight. For sure if he went against frank mir it would be a different story.
November 15, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Shoe, you gonna be AT the fight? If so, look for me – we’ve got really good seats on lower lev right before the floor. Agree with most of your picks except that I am rooting for matt brown and expect him to pull a win.
November 15, 2008 at 2:15 pm
I am going to be home watching with family and friends. I bet its going to be unreal to be there live! Have fun!
November 16, 2008 at 9:37 am
Just watch out for blood and gore spraying over you….it tends to detract from the experience somewhat….heheheheh
November 15, 2008 at 1:22 pm
My vote is on Brock Lesnar, he’s just huge. I think a lot of people are familiar with Brock Lesnar and are going to be interested in this fight.
November 15, 2008 at 1:31 pm
Randy Couture win this match.
November 16, 2008 at 9:09 am
I think so be it.
November 15, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Lesnar is another BUM just like Kimbo, and deserve the same ending, you can read about kimbo th e bum here http://blogangry.com/kimbo-slice-is-a-bum/
November 15, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Does any one know if Kimbo is fighting again? Didn’t the EliteXC go bankrupt?
Kimbo in my opinion was a good figher but I think his main tactic was INTIMIDATION. That beard and all of his attributes.
That last fight was a joke, I’ve seen Kimbo get hit harder in those street fights, look up the one when he faces Byrd – He lets Byrd hit him directly in the face and it doesn’t phase him.
It doesn’t make sense he would get hit by Petruzelli which was a girly shot. The hit grazed him.
I would like to see him fight again.
November 15, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Bum please do us a favor and dont respond with nonsense again . The guy was a collegiate wrestling champ.
November 15, 2008 at 4:35 pm
That doesn’t take him out of the “BUMS” category
November 15, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Lesnar is another bum just like kimbo, and deserve the same ending.
November 15, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Lol sure he is, atleast get your facts right before you make a statement like that, I never saw Kimbo get a title shot and I never saw kimbo destroy a guy in the UFC like brock did.
November 15, 2008 at 4:33 pm
And you are probably one of them that thinks that WWF
WWE is real, don’t you?
November 18, 2008 at 7:32 am
Lal and I was wrong that lesnar was going to win? Pfffff
November 15, 2008 at 2:07 pm
Oh lesnar was greattttt in WWE. No idea about this thing he is huge and was best in wrestling business
November 15, 2008 at 4:10 pm
i was also clueless about his appearences else where
November 15, 2008 at 3:18 pm
I have to agree with you about jorge gurgel , he keeps on fighting even though hes making no progress at all . It probably has to do with being best friends with rich franklin
November 15, 2008 at 3:19 pm
I really think that lesnar is way to big for couture and his wrestling is much better , this is very strange when you have lesnar who is favoured to win yet he isnt very skilled at all.
November 15, 2008 at 3:50 pm
Oh yeah! It’s on! Can’t wait!
November 15, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Brock Lesnar is from my home town so I would be happy to see him win, but I don’t think he has what it takes to be a World Champ.
He just doesn’t seem to be versatile or sophisticated enough. If it were just a contest of pure power he would dominate but I don’t think he is a complete MMA fighter yet.
All it takes is one good punch though……
My prediction: Randy Couture by submission
November 15, 2008 at 4:10 pm
I saw brock lesner last in wwf. Seems a long time back though
November 15, 2008 at 4:16 pm
I hope Randy wins, but the way that Heath went flying across the octagon when Lesnar “pushed” him was incredible – the guy is just so powerful. I don’t think Lesnar is that well rounded, but is incredibly athletic for a guy that size.
November 15, 2008 at 4:16 pm
I got 5 large riding on Lesnar – and no not $500.00 rather $5,000.00 – so he better pull thru !!!
November 15, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Good pics but I gonna have to disagree with the Maia pick just because his jiu jitsu is so phenomenal. I see him taking it to the ground in the second half of the first round and dominating by position. Maia by RNC in the second
November 15, 2008 at 4:21 pm
I think the size difference will weight randy down .
November 15, 2008 at 4:43 pm
This clown Lesnar tried out for the Vikings, didn’t make it, now UFC, guarantee he won’t make it, he’s gonna end up trying for DANCING WITH THE STARS, and called quits….
November 16, 2008 at 9:32 am
If only! He KO’d Randy Couture to become UFC champ. Loads of WWE fans will sit up and take notice of this. It is a marketer’s dream come true!
November 15, 2008 at 5:45 pm
If Couture ever gets mounted in this match, it could get ugly. However, I don’t see Couture looking to go for any takedowns. Just like against Silvia, he’ll probably try to keep this on their feet as long as possible.
Prior to the Silvia match, Couture has had some problems against bigger opponents. I do question, however, Lesnar’s ability to submit anyone on the ground with anything other than a “ground-and-pound” attack.
If Couture wins this match, he’ll go down as the greatest UFC Champ ever. Of course, Anderson Silva will eventually surpass Couture.
November 15, 2008 at 5:49 pm
umm Anderson Silva fights 2 weight classes below Randy Couture. Do you mean Tim Sylvia ?
November 15, 2008 at 5:51 pm
No….I’m talking about all-time UFC champs regardless of weight class.
May 6, 2009 at 1:22 pm
Lol, Anderson Silva is so over rated, there isnt a good fighter in his weight class imo…wait till hes at 205 to prove him self, GSP best pound 4 pound.
November 15, 2008 at 6:07 pm
I say Randy has this handled. Randy will submit him, Brock doesn’t have enough experience yet to avoid the strategy of MMA. In order to be the top of MMA, it takes an enormous amount of a knowledge to adapt to the different fighting disciplines. Randy has a well rounded understanding as well as experience to execute a submission and withstand Brock’s initial onslaught.
November 15, 2008 at 6:20 pm
I put my bets in on Bodog just a minute ago, I took:
Couture (always fights good as the underdog)
Hendricks (long shot bet but took it because of good payout)
Quarry (should be an interesting fight)
Floria (my lock of the night)
November 15, 2008 at 7:10 pm
Since when was jujitsu referred to as “jitz”??
November 15, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Couture v. Lesnar is impossible to pick. My gut tells me Brock will win. But Couture has looked fantastic in his last two fights, and it’s ridiculous to count him out. Even if he loses, there is a tremendous upside to Lesnar. I’ll pay to see him fight Big Nog, Gonzaga, or any Top 10 heavyweight tomorrow. He can talk, and he has a legitimate chance of beating any Top 10 heavyweight. Good investment, UFC.
November 16, 2008 at 9:31 am
They have never invested money in an empty case.
November 15, 2008 at 8:38 pm
this is going to be awesome i’ll be watching the fights online at mmahacks not my site just thought i would help those out who can’t afford the ppv price
November 15, 2008 at 8:53 pm
I don’t see Brock winning to be honest. Not too much experience and I’d say no real strategy compared to Randy. He probably won’t be submitted, but still, a victory dance looks a bit far away for Brock.
November 15, 2008 at 8:54 pm
i can never bet or go against randy – EVER. i’m nervous as well as brock looked insane his last fight.
this guy is destined for greatness in MMA for sure plus he’s going to bring over a lot of folks from the WWE which will be great for the sport.
but c’mon – his 3rd fight beating randy couture. i’d be very impressed if he does.
please randy, don’t let me down !!
November 15, 2008 at 9:06 pm
This is great stuff, I love watching fights
November 15, 2008 at 10:53 pm
I hate this wrestling stuff. Its seems to me like a cruel form of entertainment.
November 16, 2008 at 12:31 am
I predicted Brock wasn’t that hard had 50/50 chance.
November 16, 2008 at 6:39 am
I never watch WWF. As these fight are not real
November 16, 2008 at 10:04 pm
It is cool that you got to visit Couture just days before a big fight. Somehow, one would think they would be off meditating, training, or something. But I guess they still have to stay loose, just like ball players.
November 16, 2008 at 10:36 pm
I just won a roast duck when Brock Lesnar dropped Randy in the fight. That was the agreement and that night, we had roast duck in almond sweet and spicy sauce…hahaha.
November 16, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Just wait and see…….enjoy the fighting
November 18, 2008 at 2:09 am
He’s still a BUM
November 19, 2008 at 3:33 am
A few year’s back when I was driving stretch Limo’s. I got the chance to pick up Brock Lesnar here in Melbourne Australia. I Must say I’ve never seen so much muscle! His HUGE!
I vote Lesnar all the way.
November 29, 2008 at 3:00 pm
That guy on the right is huge.
