When I first started in affiliate marketing I simply dumped a ton of cash on Pay-per-click engines and did pretty well. Well its not so easy anymore.
Especially now with pretty much every easy engine using a quality score component of some sort. We have talked a lot about ad copy and keywords and I feel that has been beaten pretty good so this is more about the basic techniques of the landing page.
The key is to build sites that people can interact with and are a service of some sort to the user. There are a couple basic sites you can build like this:
Review Websites:
In my experience review websites when designed properly are the best way to drive leads. “Designed properly” is the secret sauce. I dunno about you but designing great looking templates sucks for me. The Wordpress Reviews Plugin is a gift from god and makes deployment of these sites really fast. If you can install Wordpress then you can make a great looking review website in minutes. There are also a bunch of themes ready to go. You can have dating, weight loss, ringtone services, whatever reviews up and running in no time and start raking in the affiliate money with these. We use them on a local level and just charge flat rate advertising. I would show you but after the abuse the coddington dental website took (ahh the downside of showing real life examples) I think I will just let your imagination run wild with this one.
Anyway on average our prices have decreased dramatically with these review sites. If you are in a niche that you think building review sites is for you then you need to give the Wordpress Review plugin a whirl.

I have taken this tool and edited it a bit to fit the needs of my website. It is a bit pricey, but it really simplifies the process of building a review site. Plus once you dig into the code you will find that it is pretty easy to customize.

Great, thanks!

I want the free version, and I want to do unspeakable things to Study Babes avatar model.
Moreover, I commend you on this post. I have a review site that, well, frankly, sucks. No matter how much I try to make it unique and valuable, people just continue to treat it like a spam site.
I have been wanting to change it over to a WP blog, just for ease of indexing, pinging, and user comments, etc. I stumbled on this post on my first ggl search, and its exacally what I needed.
Thanks Shoe

Is it compatible with the 2.7 edition of wordpress?Has any user any feedback about it yet?
January 12, 2009 at 8:35 pm
Would be totally awesome if there were a free version of this somewhere. I think I’m about to BUY!
December 6, 2008 at 12:05 pm
Looks like an interesting way to make money with reviewing sites…
December 3, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Thanks for the plugin. It really useful for the affiliates who want to generate sales.
December 3, 2008 at 9:31 am
I agree Review sites are Really good in Conversion. Its a Good pre selling Technique. But I Don’t Know About That Plug in.Thanks for Share.
December 2, 2008 at 8:43 am
this definitely looks like an interesting way to build review sites..
December 1, 2008 at 8:58 am
The hosting angle is pretty busy now but I like the concept on something unique and not overdone. I don’t know if I’d jump into the dating arena either, but if someone can come up with a new twist they might have a shot.
November 29, 2008 at 3:02 pm
what an awesome plugin. thanks for the tip
November 26, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Wow that really is a great plug in that I didnt even know existed. Not a bad price either for the profit potential.
November 23, 2008 at 10:35 pm
thanks for useful recommendation engine…..
November 20, 2008 at 11:55 am
I’m going to have to give that plugin a try. I didn’t know it existed.
November 17, 2008 at 8:42 pm
Those are some great ideas for using reviews and such.
November 17, 2008 at 11:44 am
I used to hate installing Wordpress, but GD has made it easier now. The trick is to build review sites for products with very little competiton and then finding domains which represent the sale best. After that, website building is nothing.
November 16, 2008 at 2:29 am
This looks like it would be pretty easy to set up. I recently was reading about the eBay affiliate program. I signed up for it but got denied. I don’t know how they decide. I read though that it is very feasible to get multiple small streams of incomes from these exact type of sites. Each one will bring in just a little bit, but if you have enough… then you’re golden. Thanks Jeremy!

November 14, 2008 at 3:30 am
to save time this website is good i think.
November 14, 2008 at 12:35 am
i think selling wordpress plugin for $97 is way too much
specially when wordpress is a open source project
November 13, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Review sites are hot right now and will continue to be. Great post…great plugin.
November 13, 2008 at 5:46 am
Sorry for being
But then again doesn’t google hates paid reviews and how can one know if there are paid reviews being posting on that blog.
November 13, 2008 at 12:44 am
Very interesting indeed! It’s my first time to hear about this plugin. Reviews via blogs implementing WordPress are worthly than normal websites from my point of view.
November 12, 2008 at 8:55 pm
“When I first started in affiliate marketing I simply dumped a ton of cash on Pay-per-click engines and did pretty well. Well its not so easy anymore.”
You think easy arbitrage is dead and successful arbitrage is more risky these days? (…slowly, tentatively puts 40k back in pocket)
November 12, 2008 at 6:05 am
That seems like a fantastic add-on to any Wordpress blog. What better way to get more signups and income from affiliate programs than writing reviews about them.I thinking of buying this plugin.
November 12, 2008 at 5:26 am
I’m just starting to get into affiliate marketing. Might have to give this a shot. Just need to think of a topic that isn’t saturated yet.
November 12, 2008 at 5:02 am
Thanks for the great post ……i got it the link to look more further.
November 12, 2008 at 4:56 am
no, doubt it’s an excellent post, I think I will get this plugin letter for my next project
November 12, 2008 at 3:33 am
I think they should pay you commission for this article Shoe, because there’s so many people who have decided to purchase this plugin from your review. Lol!
November 13, 2008 at 8:05 am

November 11, 2008 at 9:16 pm
I have been thinking about this plugin for a while. I’m glad to hear that it is actually worth the money.
November 11, 2008 at 8:58 pm
I will test the plugin said
November 11, 2008 at 8:13 pm
Once again, Shoemoney making me spend $$.
Thanks for the info – just what I need for one of my sites.
November 11, 2008 at 7:55 pm
I’m usually hesitant about creating blogs just for the purpose of reviews. Creating an blog, making it popular, and then writing a few reviews sounds much better for me.
November 11, 2008 at 7:50 pm
Excellent plug in. This has saved a lot of time.
November 11, 2008 at 7:20 pm
This plugin looks very interesting
Excellent article,thanks
November 11, 2008 at 7:05 pm
This plugin looks very interesting especially if you suck at designing sites
November 12, 2008 at 3:31 am
yup, it makes much easier. It takes care of all the detail that we ordinary people don’t need to stress about. I dig it!
November 11, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Nice review but shouldn’t you disclose that the link to WO Review is an affiliate link?
If you are going to get me to pay for this thing, which I will, we should be shown a live, shoemoney example review site that is really “raking it in”
November 11, 2008 at 7:52 pm
I have actually had many people offer to show their sites so tomorrow I will give you one.
November 12, 2008 at 9:56 am
Jeremy,
Don’t forget to show us a kick butt example.
Regards,
David G.
November 11, 2008 at 6:02 pm
Very interesting will check it out. Could do some good things with it.
November 11, 2008 at 5:06 pm
Anyone knows any free plugins to compare them with this one ?
November 11, 2008 at 5:03 pm
Nice plugin I will try it next time…
November 11, 2008 at 4:59 pm
I am using this plugin now and plan to upgrade to unlimited license. I love the ability to use it on any wordpress theme.
Good post!
November 11, 2008 at 3:53 pm
I actually have it working now on my new site only about a month old and its doing real well serp wise
November 11, 2008 at 6:43 pm
Cool to see you post to shoemoney, Ian. It would be nice to see you Affiliate Challengers do something together as a reunion. It is or coming on six months now? Maybe a midyear contest of Shoemoney’s original team vs. John Chow’s original team.
November 12, 2008 at 3:30 am
Well I might as well give it a try too, will purchase this plugin today.
November 11, 2008 at 3:41 pm
Presuming it supports images and some real formatting, this could be a great plugin. I would at least want to add some product photos to the body. If it supports the WysiWig, then adding page breaks would help on SEO page creation value.
November 11, 2008 at 4:33 pm
Brandon, it’s a plugin for WordPress. WordPress has a WYSIWYG editor and supports images, videos and anything else you want in the post body. It only adds functionality, it doesn’t take any away.
November 11, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Thanks again for a money making idea, didn’t know about the plug-in. I can see how that would make a review site simple.
November 11, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Good point Shoe, you’re giving away some awesome advice this month bud.
November 11, 2008 at 3:18 pm
This was a nice post but it looks like one of my posts when I’m trying to make a few off of referrals
I have been wanting to buy that script for some time now but can’t justify the price for the amount of time I could spend on it.
November 11, 2008 at 2:40 pm
The script looks awesome…I am gonna definitely try it and see if i get
any results
thanks for sharing this info with us
November 11, 2008 at 2:07 pm
Hello!
Excellent article, congratulations!
Greetings
November 11, 2008 at 1:55 pm
nice site
November 11, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Nice plugin, I’ve seen this used before and always wondered where to snatch it up. Thanks for the tip, this will go well some sites I got.
November 11, 2008 at 1:14 pm
this definitely looks like an interesting way to build review sites..
November 11, 2008 at 1:13 pm
worth to look!
November 11, 2008 at 12:37 pm
This is a cool plugin. I’ve been hunting for a good PHP review script and didn’t have any luck finding one that I liked right out of the box, until now. I was almost ready to hire a programmer and outsource the project of creating a stable and good review script. Thanks for sharing this one! It really helped!
November 11, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Thanks Jeremy – looks interesting. It seems to be a robust and well supported plugin. I like that there are open support forums ; and free “lifetime” upgrades.
An important factor (for sites I manage) was compatibility with the forthcoming WordPress 2.7 release (in beta 2 and on the verge of RC release) and Dan Grossman mentions intheir support forums that he hasn’t noticed any interoperability issues between the plugin and the beta release of WP 2.7.
Thanks for sharing.
November 11, 2008 at 12:02 pm
I am new to this site…I have read all of your comments and they are quite intriguing…..I am hooked…..I have read posts about sites that don’t make a lot of money and the struggle people go through….what are the best sites that make the most money….for beginners.
November 12, 2008 at 10:34 pm
All sites are good. -)) The main idea – a strategy of sales and converting traffic.
November 11, 2008 at 11:55 am
Shoe,
Great tip thanks for sharing. Do you mind explaining what happened at the “coddington dental website” by abuse do you mean hacked or just people bugging the Dentist with B.S.
Regards,
David G.
November 11, 2008 at 11:36 am
I have been hardcore using this plugin along with a few others, to pump out several review sites over the past few months.
hybridgolf.net is just one that uses a combination of this, ePN, Amazon and a few other gems like CarP, to truly build a great site!!
Good plug Shoe!!
November 11, 2008 at 11:25 am
what an awesome plugin. thanks for the tip
November 11, 2008 at 11:19 am
seogis – @shoemoney 15,200
(how to I follow u shoemoney? I’m a newbie)
November 13, 2008 at 8:07 am
you should post this in the win a $3000 apple laptop post so he can see it
November 11, 2008 at 11:10 am
I’ve been trying out js-kit reviews for a bit now, and it seems ok, especially given their analytic ability (it’s got a nice dashboard). Does anyone have enough experience to compare/contrast that with this plugin?
November 11, 2008 at 11:08 am
Looks good. The one problem that I see though is that it doesn’t look like each review would create a seperate pages. I have a review site where every review submitted creates a seperate page and it draws it mass amounts of traffic.
November 12, 2008 at 10:31 pm
I think this will work better.
November 11, 2008 at 11:04 am
Yeah review sites are the way to go, when I first got into affiliate marketing a few months ago I’d just direct link everything and lost about $1000 wondering why my stuff wasn’t working. Started trying the review method and now I pull in about that much every week, it’s really simple too takes a lot less time than you’d think to make up a few BS reviews and throw em up.
November 11, 2008 at 10:42 am
Yup, it’s a great plugin
November 11, 2008 at 10:40 am
Wow that looks like a great plugin. I am buying as I type. Have you ever used Macspeech Dictate? I’m about to buy that one as well, but would like a “pros” opinion. Seems like I could bust out some articles or anything else for that matter.
November 11, 2008 at 7:52 pm
I did buy MacSpeech Dictate it totally rocks. Because of it I will be able to finish some of the books I was “writing”
November 12, 2008 at 1:39 am
lol. lazy
November 12, 2008 at 3:28 am
Wow, it sounds like wordpress has quite some great plugins, huh?
November 13, 2008 at 8:03 am
yea they have so many plugins, its great for someone making
a site
November 11, 2008 at 10:30 am
The review site plugin is my all time favorite wordpress plugin to date!
November 11, 2008 at 10:25 am
I’ll give it a look, maybe I can arrange somethin gto transform it so it can work on ExpressionEngine.
Thx for the tip!!!
November 11, 2008 at 11:05 am
what’s expressionengine?
November 11, 2008 at 11:47 am
Expression Engine is a content management system.
November 11, 2008 at 9:10 pm
you use it / recommend it?
November 12, 2008 at 4:02 pm
It’s a CMS like told by Robin. I used a lot of differenttypes of CMS, but ExpressionEngine (EE) does it for me. You can do almost everything in it by using simple EE code. The learning curve can be a bit hard at starters, but once you’ve passed that, you won’t try anything else.
November 11, 2008 at 11:43 am
Looks great plugin for affiliates. i will look into it thanks for sharing
November 11, 2008 at 2:34 pm
eh.. this plugin used to free earlier this year. Good for those guys for finally realizing people would pay it.
November 12, 2008 at 3:27 am
yup, it’s a great tool and worth the money. It’s a pitty I only found out about it now, didn’t get the chance to scoop it while it was free.
