Behind the Scenes at Market Leverage

by Jeremy Schoemaker on October 14, 2008 · 72 comments

Our next ‘Behind the Scenes’ segment takes us to Orlando, Florida to the offices of the affiliate network Market Leverage.  Upon our arrival we were greeted by our tour guide and Marketing Manager, Dina Riccobono.  She and her assistant gave us a tour of the offices and introduced us to everybody.

Their offices were awesome.  A lot of thought was put into how the desks were arranged, to give each person some privacy, but to not “block” them off from the rest of the employees.  This way they have a collaborative working environment.  The company has lunch together every day, and it’s provided free of charge.  I think they all agreed, lunch time was a great informal meeting to discuss work issues as well as getting to know each other better.

We hit their affiliate managers with some tough questions, like how to get higher payouts, but they had no problems responding.  And got some great interviews with them, as well as Sal, the President of Market Leverage.  We decided to break up this BTS segment into 3 videos.  The video below is a general tour of the offices.

We had so much great footage with their Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel, Frank Ioppolo, we decided to have a segment devoted to ‘Legal Matters in Affiliate Marketing’.

And lastly, their CEO and Founder, Michael Jenkins, was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable we thought he needed a segment just devoted to him.  So check out the ‘CEO Sit Down’.

Overall, Market Leverage seems to be on a great track.  They were all very excited about the future of the company and have a course mapped out for where they want to be in 10 years.  I want to thank Market Leverage for having us out, and it was great meeting everybody.  We had a really good time.

On a sadder note, a former employee of Market Leverage, Sean Abernethy, was recently in a horrible motorcycle accident.  They are having Charity Poker Run to benefit him and his family.  I hope everybody will donate, or if you are in the Orlando area, participate.  We wish him and his family the best.

If your company would like to fly us in and have us do a “Behind the Scenes” meeting your staff and asking what makes your company tick then please use the contact form or email tigh at shoemoney.com for more information.

Great set of videos. Market Leverage is definitely a great company to work with and I plan on visiting their offices soon. There’s nothing like seeing what goes on behind closed doors with the company that helps you make money online :)

I signed up for Market Leverage, but missed their calls and email to speak with an affiliate manager when we had the big storm where all of our power went out, so I got rejected.

I haven’t got around to signing back up, but I plan on it here within the next week.

since you just closed down the q&a, i will ask here. why don’t your embedded videos show up in your RSS feed? is that by design? i ran into this problem and fixed it by switching to feedburner.

I think all embedded videos do not work with feedburner, not just Shoemoneys’.

Many affiliate networks have “free gas” offers, where you can offer your visitors a free gas card (usually $500) and get paid $1-2 for every email or zip submit.

I heard that MarketLeverage is getting a redesign and I look forward to seeing the new design. Since MarketLeverage employees love to visit ShoeMoney, I would like to ask a question here. Maybe it will help other ShoMoney readers as well. Does MarketLeverage allow incentivizing offers? (Sorry, I think I may heard it somewhere in the video but it loads too slow so I can’t play it again)

Abernethy Family Update
First the good news: Sean Abernethy is recovering and will be able to keep his leg. His wife Sabrina had a baby girl on Monday. Sabrina is doing well and will be released from the hospital tomorrow.

Unfortunately, Sean is still in the hospital and will have to undergo more surgery and extensive physical therapy before they have a definitive answer, but should be able to re-gain the use of his leg.

Baby Ashlyn Skye has a rare birth defect that she is already suffering complications from. She was place on several life assistance machines, but had to be pulled off one today due to some complications. They’re hoping to get her stable enough for the surgery required, there are a lot of difficult steps she’ll have to go through prior to having the surgery.

Please keep this family in your thoughts.

It was awesome to see these from my point of view. I don’t have the budget to make it to things like conferences or have in-house meetings with publishers yet. This lets me know how they talk, how they think, what they would say, how they work. It also updated me on the in-comings of the industry versus things like regulation and mentality. Thank you so much Shoe.
