Can Mccain Seal The Deal Tonight?

Posted on: October 7th, 2008 by Jeremy Schoemaker

Forgot there was a debate tonight?  Well now you have been warned!

Can Mccain knockout Obama tonight and seal it up?  If he does half as good as Palin did wiping the floor with stumbling Joe Biden the other night should be game over for Obama.

Now for the important stuff.

The Debate drinking game…    Here is a copy of the official rules

I still cant pick a side… I have a problem picking between people one of which looks like he will fall over and die at any moment (leaving Palin to run the country…. disaster.) or the other whom I don’t trust at all.

He can’t steal anything but a heart attack. Like I said a thousand times before, Mccain is just one heart beat away from being in a nursing home. We need a young vibrant leader who can at least clean up some of this mess we are in.

The democrates and republicams never give us a good choose so I going to vote for a different part even if its a wasted vote maybe it will send a message. the news should cover the other partys more elections are far two sided everyone should look at the other partys

Agreed! McCain got a really dynamic vice-presidential candidate, however he himself is a tad insipid and lacking in drive. Too old I say.

      • SMM Guru
        October 8, 2008 at 10:30 am

I have a feeling the whole diebold machine issue is bs… While it may be possible how many people do you really think exploit them. It’s a sheep goat for the republicans , if they loose some valuable territory they demand a recount just like Bush.

        • Jacques Snyman

          October 18, 2008 at 7:45 pm

What? quote” if they loose some valuable territory they demand a recount just like Bush”
This is why there is a book “How to talk to a liberal (if you must)” … they say the exact opposite of reality in many instances … it can drive you crazy!
The democrats wanted to recount in Flordia 2000 NOT Bush and the Supreme Court said the Democrats could not just pick the democratic counties and recount (as they would gain votes) just what happened in Seattle, libs can find those votes just about anywhere, in garbage bins in printers … todays cheating is recounting by hand … there should be laws on the books recounting by machines only. And dems wanted to find votes for gore in democratic county. And all this after Peter Jennings and other news media called the state for Gore before the more republican counties polling places were even closed … there was still an hour left to vote … I hope conservatives don’t fall for any of the media hype … it is propaganda to lead the sheepole … look hollywood love obama you should too … BS … I think many have learned they can’t be trusted… they hate us … really, if they hate someone like Sarah Palin like they do … they hate me and my kind .. I really feel personally insulted by the media attacks on Sarah Palin and thier sick love fest for a very unqualified canidate … instead of looking at his policies they attack Joe the plumber for questioning it … they are a sick bunch … please don’t let our country go their way … please don’t listen to the polls … Obama has a very, very small lead in the polls and I think he and his supporters will be very surprised by HOW WRONG THE POLLS were.

Shoe, now you’re really stretching. This election is not even close. Obama/Biden are up by 9 points nationwide and are not only ahead in every single swing state, but also some formerly blood-red conservative strongholds like Virginia and North Carolina.

Just because Palin bumbled her way through a debate does not mean she won; Joe Biden cleaned her clock with his expansive knowledge of government and foreign policy.

John McCain is a cranky old man with an itchy trigger finger and a stink of desperation overcoming him. He’s trying to make something out of nothing by constantly bringing up lies about Obama that were debunked in the primaries. McCain will lose because, quite simply, he is a bad person and bad for America.

However, congratulations on writing effective linkbait.

(Also, you need to be ahead to “seal the deal.” I fully believe that Obama and his presidential composure will seal the deal in his favor tonight.)

    • SUBWAYblogger
      October 7, 2008 at 9:56 pm

@Anonymous – I agree with you. However, I’m a little nervous that a large lead is going to result in lower voter turn out.

We run the risk of people not voting for Obama because the assume it’s going to be a lock.

A huge lead is a good thing, but can be dangerous at the same time.

Actually, the Zogby national poll on 10/7/08 had Obama up by 2pts with a 3pt margin of error. But your magical math of 9pts sure makes for a sensational story.

Obama: 47.1 (a drop of 0.6 in one day for Obama)
      McCain: 45.2

All she did was wink at the crowd and bumble like an idiot about nothing without actually answering the questions.

It sounds like you have made a decision on who you plan to vote for… Where I’m from (Michigan), McCain has pulled out as far as efforts to try to win the state. I guess he is planning to try to focus on other states at this point.

I’ve made up my mind already as to who I plan to vote for. I hope whoever gets voted in (regardless of who) can help make things better.

As far as the polls are concerned, I don’t think you can really tell who has won until it is all over. (the actual vote)

McCain should win, as much as people love Obama, the country would be screwed with him as the President. People are seriously going to elect someone with no financial experience to head this economy? People are going to elect someone to be Commander In Chief of the most powerful army when he has never served in it? The reality of the election is this, it’s Biden vs. Palin, not Obama vs. McCain. Yes McCain is old and could have a heart attack yada yada yada. But do you seriously think Obama will serve out his presidency? You underestimate the sheer hatered so many people have for blacks and would hate to see a black president. Sorry, it has been said several times and needs to be taken more seriously, Obama has as much chance of dying in office as McCain.

Palin wiped the floor with Biden? How so? By giving a stump speech and not answering any of the questions asked to her? Brilliant!

You’ve got the blinders on, Shoe. You’re oblivious. Palin is an idiot.

Obama did very, very, well tonight. McCain just looks all over the board and lost at times. I looked at my girlfriend tonight and said, if you were a little lost child in a crowded mall, who would you feel safe taking your hand and leading you to safety? Obama is who makes me feel safe in time of trouble. Obama is who I would follow in the fork in the road if I were following.

This has gotten so ridiculous. I love debates and good discussion but I’m at a point where I almost can’t talk or respect anyone who is supporting McCain/Palin at this point. They just are so out of touch with reality and in touch with division and bringing the country down. Spending freeze but buy everyone a house in the same few minutes? C’mon. There simply is no conservative running this time. Obama should be winning by about 95% – 5%

I think the race is closer then people think.

Like has been said previously, Obama has a lot of support on the internet and in the press which gives him the look of having momentum.

In addition the core demographics of his base – young people and African Americans may play well in opinion polls but whether they turn out on election day is another story.

I would hardly be calling an Obama win a done deal.

McCain has quite a few terrible misconceptions like (1) falling housing values is the root of the problem (2) deregulations of the financial markets are good for the economy.

My guess on the election: Obama 65% – McCain 35%

Barack Hussein Obama is a Marxist with socialistic economic views and intentions. Be like the rest of the kool-aid drinking followers and vote for “change”. Give me a break. This guy is a joke. John McCain, while not perfect, is clearly the candidate that is qualified to be the leader of the free world. Instead of looking to a unknown liberal senator with extremely shady close associations for the answers to all of life’s problems, consider instead looking around at your own life and making a decision to change it yourself. It is not he government or “the messiah’s” job to improve your life. With freedom comes great responsibility. A responsibility to govern one’s self and take the blame when things don’t go as planned.

Being from alaska, I have little respect for Sarah Palin. she’s a typical alaskan poitician-a crook and a liar.

I didn’t watch the debate last night-i usually find them too depressing. Hopefully it played as the others have-McCain nervous and too old, Obama dignified, calm and answering questions with real answers instead of scripted answers don’t say anything of substance, just throw in a few buzz words.

I did watch a bit of VP debate-Palin was well coached on the buzz words but said little of substance. Biden did all right.

  89. Elizabeth
    October 8, 2008 at 9:31 pm

Reply to my own post…lol. Have a few corrections. Obama, IMHO, gives answers of substance, he thinks about what he says and he’s a very smart man. He’s a lawyer with a degree in finance, I believe. McCain is crazy, and I find him a big threat to this country. but to the corrections-McCain and Palin are full of scripted answers that give the impression of being answers, but basically are full of buzz words with no real meaning.

Past Pres. with no military experience? How about the dub? He managed to avoid Vietnam, was AWOL from the reserves, and look at the mess he’s made in Iraq, Afghanistan, and right here. thanks to his spending, we’ll be in debt for generations.

Palin was mayor of Wasilla, AK., pop. 8,000. She made to the gov. position thanks to Ted Stevens and his announcing a deal about the gas pipeline which people in this state misunderstood (were led to misunderstand) to mean the pipeline was a done deal and that somehow made it seem like Palin was in on it. As mentioned previously, Alaskan politicians are crooks and manipulators. Re: Palin calling herself a simple hockey mom. i’ve been a hockey mom, and know other hockey moms-very few are millionaires, a fact that Palin prefers to leave out of her resume.

I really wasn’t impressed with either mans presentation. Just a lack of sincerity in my humble opinion. Solutions…solutions..It’s is so easy point backward at everything that is wrong with the US and say your going to fix it, the reality is the president is a figure head with minimal actual “juice”. One man (or woman) isn’t going to fix the U.S.

    It’s the same old cycle…..

Change? C’mon….life has always been full of problems, no matter where your at. People need to stop looking for a “hero” and deal with the hand they have the best they can. If Bush wasn’t in office we would still have problems….(maybe not the same ones) but we would still have em….

Thats life BABY!!!! deal with it… LIFE!!!!!

I am all for voting, but lets keep it real man…..not looking for a hero…

:) I am a liberal, and I could care less because I know neither one is going to do anything for the country. Basically, we will be picking the lesser of the two evils.

McCain is older and can’t relate to modern issues. Plus, his character is very flawed and that worries me. He referred to Barrack as, “Barrack and his croonies”. Now, I don’t want a president that has disrepect like that. I’m glad Barrack won the debate, even though I don’t really care for him either.

Plus, the gov is going to tax the hell out of americans. So they need to stop acting as if that is not going to happen. As much as I like Barrack’s tax plan, it is not realistic. Who the hell is going to pay that $2 trillion bail out from the stock crash? The american people are..so to say that poor families and people that make less than $250,000 a year will be taxed little to nothing is impossible!

The USA truly needs a popular champion of the people that isn’t in the pocketbook of big business, to come forward and assume leadership of a great nation. The current system unfortunately doesn’t lend itself to that dynamic being expressed.

I think the bottom line is that there is absolutely no way that in a situation like the one currently facing the country, that of a massive financial crisis, that the incumbent party will win re-election. Just not going to happen.
