Blog Talk Radio provides a incredible service for bloggers to host their own radio shows. I was really impressed wih their interface. You can take live callers, screen callers, and tons of other stuff. We talked to them a bit at blogworld:

how can i use it ??
It would be really interesting to hear a BlogTalkRadio hosted by Shoemoney, John Chow, Tyler Cruz and the other big bloggers.
This is amazing stuff. Progress is moving huge steps.
Some how I prefer writing to talking. A blog is what i like to read.
This is a must do. Can’t believe this is free.
Sounds great, this is definitely something to look into in the future
they should strike up a live cast through the main website magazine home page. that would spike both of their numbers. then put in your show.
That sounds pretty cool. Has anyone here tried it out yet?
This is a 2008 goal, so better get going.
That sounds like a great service, although I am leaning more towards ustream or live podcasting.
sounds like a great service, nor that I’m going to use it or anything similar to it. Not my kind
Never heard of this before as well but it looks like it has a lot of great features. The level of interactivity between the host and viewers is really a great idea, I will have to really check this out and possibly start using it.
Direct contact with the audience this is very good for business.
I had never even heard of this before… cool information, maybe something to consider in the future?!
So how much do you really make?
The dude in the video says 30%, but at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/faq.aspx#50 it says “By signing up for the Revenue Sharing program, you will receive 35% of the total net revenue generated by advertising on your show. And, if the sponsor lead is brought to BTR by you and that lead turns into a contracted deal, you will receive 50% of that total net revenue from your show.”
So is it just 30% or 35%/50%?
go send them an email and I’m sure they will clarify it for you
geez daniel kemp. trying to win teh comment contest or something? What do you have about a dozen replies in thsi thread.
Hi, Daniel.
The web site is correct: the standard revenue share is 35%.
However, if you as a producer send us a lead on advertiser for your show and we work the lead, negotiate the contract, have the attorney’s bless it, etc. We’ll share 50% of the revenue with the producer.
Essentially, you’re earning an additional 15% for the introduction.
I hope that clarifies things.
Regards,
-jf.

In this business we have a lot of audio tape from top gurus.
And the blog radio is logic term and I think it is good thing to use all kind communications tool to get the info out the little gurus box.
Why don’t you just lump all these posts together into one giganticly long post and get it over with. All these companies won’t even be around in 2 years so what’s the point. I guarantee they all use the words “leverage” and “maximize” up the wazoo in their presentation.
great tool…. radio shows is a good idea.
nice interview there.
we’ve had a lot of interviews with different companies in the last posts.
This looks like a great service, it can bring a lot to a blog. Especially that people can call in
I liked their tag line.
Free Speech meets, social networking…
This is actually pretty wicked for a free service. Definitely going to sign up.
Thanks for sharing Shoe.
This is really an incredible service. I’ll check them for sure.
That would be awesome if you had enough to talk about. Even conventional talk radio gets boring on a day to day basis because the hosts end up talking about the same topics so frequently.
Don’t get me wrong the concept is great and it seems like these guys have come up with a unique/good way of implementing the technology to pull it off. I just think it might be hard to host.
Adam
Howard Stern and Opie and Anthony never get boring.
That’s because they have people working for them giving them
scripts and stuff to talk about. But it doesn’t have to be a show
every day it can also be once a week or once a month
It’s not hard to just go on Digg, Reddit, or Google yourself and find what are popular topics to talk about for the day.
Who’s saying you need to do it once every day. I’m sure you could find enough content for once every month, once every week, or even if you did it just randomly.
Frequency is key. I mean if you wrote 1 blog pos a month you wouldn’t get many readers so if you record 1 radio show a month you aren’t going to get many listeners.
Quality is important too!
I agree. You should try to make it a daily thing or at least
weekly. This will make your viewers want to come back for more.
I’ve been looking for something like this. I’m going to check them out now.
Nice Resource Shoe…..

This service sounds great, maybe when I get enough readers I will start using it. I especially like that you can give visitors a number to call in.
Yeah, it def relies on the number of preexisting readers you have to launch into their space, or your time could be wasted.
Exactly! Audience numbers is critical!
Great service, I am gonna try it soon, anyone else has used it?
I first found this service at Jack Humphrey blog, I think we can use it to interview people…
I just listen to some stations on it.
Ya you can use it to interview people, you just have the person you want to interview call in to the show or you could probably just do a threeway call with your phone.
I think that’s a good tool for a blogger to have available, at least to test out or use occasionally. One of the big reasons that blogging caught on is b/c of their interactive nature vs. a standard website – blogs give people the ability to participate. Once blogs started including a lot of video/audio, it was (is?) only a matter of time before that all becomes interactive as well.
Ya like Chris Pirillo is pretty cool. He has live video where he does his YouTube videos from and he allows authorized people to interact while those videos are going. When he’s not doing YouTube videos he lets everyone interact and your text even comes up on the video which is wicked.
Fantasy Sports Channel is a great one that I like to listen to.
This is a cool service for anyone who wants their own talk radio and you can include advertising on your show (but you got to choose from a select list of advertisers).
Having advertisers and commercials on your radio show would be a great way to get more money especially if you have a lot of listeners
Yup, or just getting someone to sponsor your radio show
It’a all about audience at the end of the day. The more listeners you have the more value your offering will be seen to have by prospective advertisers!
Might be something to think about starting on my blog. I’ve seen others using their service. Only problem is doing a show, then asking for listeners to call in, only to then realize no one is listening. lol
I think blog talk radio is pushing blogging further towards a media that already exists. Public radio. And I think the future of blogging is probably really heading in a different direction.
But that’s just my opinion.
Then again, if you look at it as another social media tool for microblogging, and driving traffic to your blog, then it may be the future of social media, with blogging going somewhere else at the same time.
Unlimited possibilities….that is what I love so much ab out the internet…..unlimited
You can just have a full show prepared and then say to people that they can call in anytime they want, then if someone calls in you then answer it.
That is a good way to approach it. It doesn’t necessarily need to be in real time….AHA!
LOL, I agree that would be the worst nightmare, DEAD AIR!
On one hand, I think some of the allure of blogger radio has dwindled, but on the other hand maybe it’s just because there was no universally viable solution like this.
Or because a bunch of the more interesting bloggers stopped because there was no universal solution
