Talking to Photrade a year later

by Jeremy Schoemaker on September 28, 2008 · 98 comments

Just over a year ago I interviewed Krista from Photrade and did a review of their service.  Its a great photo hosting place where you can also make money with your pictures.

I just recently caught up with Krista again during blogworld:

Photrade just recently launched a new contest system where you can hold contests for your users. I have a feeling we might see one of these on shoemoney.com soon ;)

About the author...

– who has written 2415 posts on ShoeMoney.com.

Hi I am Jeremy Schoemaker and ShoeMoney.com is my blog. 99% of the post here are done by me but you will see others occasionally make guest posts. This blog is fun to write but for my day job I run several online companies.

I almost forgot I had signed up for their service about a
year a go. WOW! Some of my photos have been
distributed all over the place, it looks like they’ve done
well.

as long as you can get sponsors to provide some sweet prizes you will get some traffic.

Reply

Shoemoney doesn’t need sponsors, lol

Reply

26 SMM Guru September 28, 2008 at 2:58 pm

blog traffic seems to be low latley… As a whole I mean. Looking at Alexa for a lot of big blogs, the amount of traffic seems to be going down steadily.

Reply

27 andrew September 28, 2008 at 3:39 pm

Alexa is pretty much BS. Ask Jeremy and see if the traffic is really going down. I’m sure it’s not.

Reply

28 SMM Guru September 28, 2008 at 6:49 pm

Obviously you have to take their stats with a grain of salt… But even for shoemoney.com they show a steady decline. (http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/shoemoney.com)

Maby less and less people are using Alex’a whack ass toolbar.

Reply

29 Tushar Dhoot September 29, 2008 at 4:29 pm

Check google traffic trends, they’re much more accurate.

Reply

30 Internet Cowboy September 28, 2008 at 11:00 pm

Alexa stats are very skewed in certain market niches and, of course, it is not a great tool for the traffic estimation/comparison. Quantcast is much better in that aspect, but still, Alexa toolbar is useful as a rough indicator of the site’s importance. When you stumble upon some website that you never heard of, it’s always helpful to have at least a remote idea of the site’s popularity.

Reply

31 mrkbsm September 28, 2008 at 11:51 pm

I’d bet on a decline in Alexa toolbar users.

Reply

32 TYCP Entertainment Magazine September 30, 2008 at 1:42 am

I don’t even bother with Alexa. I find it funny how it will say some of my sites’ traffic dropped, yet, Google Analytics has a different story.

Reply

33 SMM Guru September 30, 2008 at 2:39 pm

As I said…. Its for a general idea of whats going on.

Reply

34 Tushar Dhoot September 30, 2008 at 4:29 pm

It’s not even that. The idea of using a voluntary toolbar for gauging the popularity of sites is flawed right from the start.

Reply

35 dgvito September 28, 2008 at 3:01 pm

Shoe,

Thanks for the post, forgot I had an account with Photrade. BTW I won’t mention PicLens (Cooliris.com)anymore as I see you use it in your gallery, LOL. Photrade with a Cooliris plug in that would be PhotoCool.
