I just finished the keynote and its viewable here for those who missed it. I was really nervous for this. I have never given a keynote speech before and especially not one kicking off the conference!
Izeafest is rocking! You can really tell the difference between conferences that are out for profit and ones that are more for promoting their brand. This is one that is promoting their brand. Tons of freebies and great events.
Here is the keynote in case you wanted to see it and missed it live.

September 16, 2008 at 2:32 pm
It took me a few days to finally get around to listen to this speech and some of the other stuff from Izeafest. Looks like it was an interesting conference.
Congrats on the job you did. I think the top take away should be that people need to do less talking and do more doing.
September 16, 2008 at 10:54 am
Thanks for posting that video. Enjoyed your speech – very inspirational.
September 15, 2008 at 7:22 pm
Good job, first timer!
September 15, 2008 at 5:23 pm
very inspirational!
September 15, 2008 at 2:26 pm
Wow ustream sucks so bad
September 15, 2008 at 4:15 am
Yet again another great speach but I think google has a difficult job because however good their guidelines are they are going to be abused!
September 14, 2008 at 2:59 am
Good work money, very smarty speech, thanx for sharing
September 13, 2008 at 1:00 pm
Great information shared, it was nice to hear your story again besides just reading about it. Very inspirational.
September 13, 2008 at 9:06 am
Great keynote, thanks for sharing it with everyone.
September 13, 2008 at 7:45 am
Hey JS. Excellent keynote, I love your screw google tactics. Social marketing is a far better way to get good quality traffic these days. The power of word of mouth is growing everyday.
September 13, 2008 at 4:59 am
Thats the thing …
Let the goal of google (which is to have the best sites to show at the top) and our goal be same….
Once the sites we make are made kept in mind the readers perspective and not SE stuff links and rankings should come automatically in a genuine way.
September 12, 2008 at 11:54 pm
simply awesome job!
September 12, 2008 at 11:50 pm
Thats a wonderful speech!
September 12, 2008 at 11:37 pm
Dude, It went out at 27:42 and wouldn’t work and I missed what you said and I was like, something important
lol, def put this on google.video er youtube
September 12, 2008 at 10:34 pm
Smashing speech, Jeremy. Wicked. I like that you got straight to the point. No BS. Can’t stand it when people drag on without getting to the point.
September 12, 2008 at 8:28 pm
I really liked what you said about setting goals and not settling for what you have. In addition, you had accountability from you wife to make the right choices that would get you where you want to go not necessarily what you want to do at the moment. It was almost like Steven coveys book, “First things first.” It is far too easy to do the good things instead of the best things.
September 12, 2008 at 6:59 pm
@ ZK@WebTrafficRO: totally agree with you lol
September 12, 2008 at 6:57 pm
good speech
September 12, 2008 at 5:59 pm
Awesome, watching it now.
September 12, 2008 at 5:54 pm
nice keynote.. you came off relaxed and natural, with interesting content. Good work shoe.
September 12, 2008 at 5:33 pm
the guy before you is a huge fan of pay per post? you obviously didn’t invite @calacanis to this event
September 12, 2008 at 4:36 pm
Just read John Chow’s blog, a very inspiring speech.
September 12, 2008 at 4:33 pm
The sound went out in the middle of it for me. But sounded good up until then. Any chance you can put it on YouTube?
September 12, 2008 at 4:16 pm
looking good buddy, hopefully this will be the first of many
September 12, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Wow, thanks for uploading the speech. Bookmarked!
September 12, 2008 at 3:46 pm

September 12, 2008 at 1:46 pm
MONEY on the ‘Screw Google’!
September 12, 2008 at 1:30 pm
good stuff shoe i didn’t know much about your background so it was really interesting to me.
kinda reminded me and i’m not sure why but it reminded me of your t-shirt that says “SEO SUCKS” i gotta get me one of those t-shirts
September 12, 2008 at 1:07 pm
Great Key Note Speech!
September 12, 2008 at 12:47 pm
HAHA… Shoe me the money!
Great work brother! I think your perspective on SEO is refreshing. Build the site for the users and the SEs will follow! Keep it up!
September 12, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Shoe – great speech, but I gotta ask you… how do you get your thumbs to bend back 90-degrees like that?
September 12, 2008 at 12:39 pm
Fantastic speech man. You did great. I like hearing about how you started. It’s inspiring as I saw a lot of similarities in myself. Quitting WoW was one of the best things I ever did, so much time to work on real projects now. Wish I could have come see the keynote in person, I’m just down the road in Orlando, but I had deadlines at my 9-5.
September 12, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Great speech! Enjoyed getting to know you better.
September 12, 2008 at 12:02 pm
SCREW GOOGLE – I am with you on this , Shoe
September 12, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Ya I hope people actually watch the video though and see the context of it. I actually love Google just think more people should build sites for people and not search engines
September 12, 2008 at 4:06 pm
That’s what ultimately matters- even if google brings you 1000’s of visitors every day, unless you can keep them with your content, then you won’t benefit from this traffic.
September 12, 2008 at 11:56 am
Nice Keynote. I know far too often I get stuck being excited about doing stuff without actually doing it. Your Keynote saved me from buying another book too… =)
Keep up the great work, and thank you for the kick in the butt.
September 12, 2008 at 11:54 am
I thought that the title said, “the laziest keynote speech.” Funny how we read into things.
September 12, 2008 at 11:48 am
That was great.
Matt Cutts will be proud. It was really a very white hat talk, build great content and don’t worry about the Search Engines.
Build the traffic, then the Search Engines will show up later.
Always great to hear your story. Very inspirational.
September 16, 2008 at 2:25 pm
It’s sort of a double-edged sword, no?
White hat in spirit but with the actual words “screw Google.”
September 12, 2008 at 11:47 am
Jeremy,
Great Keynote, you have Great Leadership qualities. I love how you gave Tigh the credit for the revenue increase.
David G.
September 12, 2008 at 1:58 pm
just don’t tell him that. … I coordinated his flight so he would not be at the speech
September 12, 2008 at 11:38 am
Hey Jeremy,
Awesome speech man… it was great to learn more about you on a more personal side of things. Also I think that it is great how you recognize publicly your wife and mother in law for their hard work and efforts. You’re a class act in my book.
September 12, 2008 at 1:58 pm
Thank you very much, very nice of you to say
September 12, 2008 at 11:08 am
Great presentation, I really enjoyed it. You didn’t look nervous at all. Like they say, you put the most pressure on yourself. I gurantee nobody else noticed.
September 13, 2008 at 7:04 am
I agree, all turned out very well. Watch pleasure.
September 12, 2008 at 10:58 am
Good speech Shoe. You said that you were very nervous, but you couldn’t tell. Love the music they play during intermission btw.
September 12, 2008 at 10:14 am
Its good to see this video. Looks very nice there and good job on the keynote!
September 12, 2008 at 10:13 am
Watched it live. Great speech. Alot better than the one going on right after you. BTW, when does the winner of the trip to the ThinkTank getting posted?
September 12, 2008 at 1:57 pm
it will be posted later today… still waiting on the votes from attendees
September 12, 2008 at 10:07 am
Nice speech. Looks like a cool place to be. Very fun environment.

September 12, 2008 at 4:05 pm
You’d better watch it later. It’s a good speach.
September 12, 2008 at 9:36 pm
that was my plan, but hotel internet seems to be foiling that. Gonna have to watch tomorrow!
