When I said I was only running it on the dev server I was lying. I actually have been running it on here for a bit now. Why did I lie? Well nobody in their right mind should be using bleeding edge distribution.
So why am I? Well for 1 the new enhancements to wordpress are really awesome for me and after testing on our dev server and seeing nothing massively is broken I then upgraded the main server to the nightly build code.
Being I use the subversion system I can also easily revert back if things do not go so well. I also do nightly backups of my databases and files so worst case I might miss out on a few comments.
But a few have figured it out that I was running 2.7 and been asking me some questions.
I just want to say I highly recommend you do not do what I am doing. Just wait for the release
. The whole reason they do these is because they know their are bugs and they want people to test it. I doubt anyone is testing it as much as I am with the traffic we get here
(again which is not very smart).
Whatever… look at the new comment view from the dash… how cool is this?
There is so many awesome features in 2.7. Just an amazing amount of cosmetic stuff.

I would gonna try wordpress 2.7
September 9, 2008 at 5:30 am
it’s getting annoying with wordpress releasing a new version every few days , I just hate updating my blogs every few weeks.
September 3, 2008 at 9:22 pm
cannot see what is so “amazing”, sorry.
September 1, 2008 at 5:40 pm
I don’t like to first on these things, I like to give it a month or so then try it out
September 1, 2008 at 12:21 am
Ah I can’t wait until the release!!
August 31, 2008 at 4:55 pm
2.7 looks great, I’m stoked for the general release. I won’t be the first adopter, but I’ll give it a month and then jump right in!
August 30, 2008 at 11:31 pm
Is that why I’m not getting a comment number for my comments now.
August 30, 2008 at 2:20 pm
wordpress rocks..
August 30, 2008 at 12:29 pm
I am still waiting for the stable version before upgrade it on my blogs..
August 30, 2008 at 10:02 am
Looks nice, but my email is on that picture!
August 29, 2008 at 12:41 pm
Wordpress seems to be improving by leaps and bounds with every edition they come up with! Version 2.7 seems to be another big leap!
August 29, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Cosmetic changes are more important then upgrading features. This is because, people are more likely to discuss a revamped design over an upgraded feature unless its a massive overhaul of that feature.
August 29, 2008 at 12:17 pm
The new comments page definitely looks good, when is the full release scheduled?
Kind of crazy for you to install it here, but I’m sure the wordpress team loves it!
August 29, 2008 at 10:44 am
Any idea what the “inbox” page is for yet?
August 29, 2008 at 2:57 am
Shoe, how stable is it for you?
August 29, 2008 at 2:29 am
I can’t believe you lied shoe??!!!?????
August 29, 2008 at 12:50 am
You heard it guys! He’s on an unstable version! Let’s annoy him with a hack everyday! MUAHAHAHA!
August 28, 2008 at 11:17 pm
You’ve got more balls than I do running nightly builds on your blog.
August 29, 2008 at 6:55 pm
Why won’t you run those versions? Just ensure there is no issues by testing it on a test server before hand.
August 28, 2008 at 11:14 pm
I can’t wait.. i will upgrade to subversion though.
August 28, 2008 at 10:39 pm
I really like wordpress but for the common user it is very annoying how often it needs to be updated.
August 28, 2008 at 10:23 pm
The rule is with development that when they fix or introduce one thing you break another. Most often the updates are ok but now and again you come across something that broke. It all depends on how good the QA is for the company in question.
In other words it’s always a gamble and be prepared for a backup plan if all fails.
August 28, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Looks awesome, I can’t wait.
August 28, 2008 at 6:56 pm
I hope wordpress upgrades I hated 6 and still using older versions with custom coded security enhancements.
August 28, 2008 at 6:24 pm
I really like the look of the new comments section. As others has stated I will wait a bit to upgrade.
August 28, 2008 at 5:57 pm
2.7-hemorrhage is pretty cool, but lots of things are broken. A lot of plugins won’t work. The editor is a bit wonky.
I wouldn’t install it on a live blog. Too many things could suddenly break, especially if you’re upgrading every night.
August 28, 2008 at 6:10 pm
so basically you agree with everything I said
August 28, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Okay, how much are they paying you? So much praise!
August 29, 2008 at 6:54 pm
I believe they aren’t paying Jeremy anything they’re just letting him check it out
August 28, 2008 at 2:09 pm
But will podpress work with it now? That is what I really want to know.
September 6, 2008 at 6:48 am
Exactly my question Carl. I upgraded to 2.6 then downshifted back again to 2.5 for this reason. I hope 2.7 allows upgrade from 2.5. What do you think?
August 28, 2008 at 2:05 pm
you’re crazy…running an untested version on your main site with the kind of traffic you are having ?! You’re my hero
August 28, 2008 at 1:02 pm
I like the whole vertical look they’re going with, it’ll fit my nice fat monitor nicely.
August 28, 2008 at 1:01 pm
Well nothing’s gone wrong YET!
August 28, 2008 at 12:51 pm
Can’t wait for the comment features.
August 28, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Man, those comments look cool!
September 1, 2008 at 1:27 pm
I totally agree with you!
August 28, 2008 at 12:36 pm
Well, you’ve gotta keep the competitive edge
August 28, 2008 at 12:19 pm
Looks pretty nice. It’s funny though that some people out there don’t even use dev servers or test anything. Some people make their changes live so every once in a while you catch something broken.
August 29, 2008 at 6:54 pm
I agree with this point. Before you try any new upgrade you should always test something on a testing server to ensure there are any issues.
August 28, 2008 at 12:16 pm
2.7 looks tight. I will definitely be waiting for the stable release but I don’t think you are too crazy for running the nightly builds. You might get something wierd every now and then, but with how quickly you guys could fix a problem I don’t think there’s any downside.
August 28, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Yeah, I think the risk is little especially if you want to get ahead of the curve talking about 2.7. BLeed edge, bleeeeed.
August 29, 2008 at 6:53 pm
There isn’t much risk even with a newer build.
Generally they’re built with little bugs, which are found pretty quickly and if you know php/mysql then its easier to find any bugs since its opensource.
August 28, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Everything looks ok now.
August 29, 2008 at 6:39 am
I agree, everything is working normally. Or there is something bad in the work wordpress 2.7?
August 28, 2008 at 11:57 am
Looks like you put the image showing your new comment view from the dashboard of WP 2.7 on another post (the one about SpeedDate).
