The Last Google Dance
I am always stunned at the amount of food/beer and activities Google puts on for the their employees and attendees of the SES San Jose conference.
I had been hearing rumors that this would be the last Google dance for the last couple months and 3 different Google employees told me they are pretty certain that is the case. An end At least the Google dance that we have come to love every summer at SES San Jose.
Whether or not this is the case I would just like to say thank you to Google for putting on such an amazing event for the last four years (for me, much longer for veterans). I truly feel like I am Charlie in the Chocolate Factory whenever I visit Google but during the Google Dance its on a whole different level.
So anyway…. Thanks Google.

well, that’s a bummer, but at least you have the memories right? The Google Dance goes down in history, just like everything else they do!

Any pictures from the Google dance?
[Reply]
Had seen the pics shown by Matt Cutts. Seemed to be a full time enjoyment there!
Who knows.. Google might break its rule and rearrange one more dance sooner or later.
[Reply]
Do you really think the link to Google is necessary? Lol well whatever not like they need the link juice.
[Reply]
Horses die standing… that always makes people sad.
Every man reacts on word ‘last’ it is trigger in our sub-conscience like first moments of our life to start to drink milk… we are all driven by deep instincts. Unfortunately there is always ‘last dance’ for somebody at least.
I am sad to see how people are hungry of link juice and greedy… that is braking my heart, some of them rejoice here but Jeremy I understand you what you want to say… in spite of all ironical greedy reflection “I truly feel like I am Charlie in the Chocolate Factory whenever I visit Google” you show them all that money isn’t everything, it comes and goes and what we have created satays behind us…
Just imagine what would it if that really was “The Last Google Dance” (for you).
[Reply]
hmmm… well but still you guys are gonna miss it right…
[Reply]
nope i will not gonna miss google dance. it great that google dance will last.
[Reply]
Food and Beer, what more do people need/want!!! haha
[Reply]
You know its kinda hard to imagine the internet without google… wait its hard to imagine the WORLD without google.
[Reply]
shoe is throwing around the pr juice giving links to google.
[Reply]
It’s nice to see them spreading it around. But, like all good things, sooner or later it comes to an end.
[Reply]
I’m pretty sure it was a great experience though.
[Reply]
You are one arrogant son of a bitch.
[Reply]
Can Matt Cutts dance?
[Reply]
What is the reason that google stops this dance.
[Reply]
If it stops then what about the index update of the Google search engine
[Reply]
A great event that I’ll never get to attend
Still, there will be other, better events in the future. Cant stop progress!
[Reply]
Did Google pay you for the link…? Just joking though!
I think they’re stopping this because they are really supposed to take money away from you NOT spend on you! Who knows…
[Reply]
they do know how to throw a party!
[Reply]
Party! Party! Party!
[Reply]
With a link from shoemoney, Google will shoot up the SERPS!
[Reply]
The holiday is wont to end. However, the new holiday is within reach. You need only a short wait.
[Reply]
i think it,s really good that google dance season in ending.
[Reply]
Are you trying to tell us that the Google party is over? What happens with Adsense if Web 2.0 goes bust?
I guess back to basics for most people..
[Reply]
I think it would be a big mistake by the Goog if they did it. You cannot put a price on the goodwill they get from the search community by running it @SES
[Reply]
Lucky guys, at least you were there. Hope google to conduct more and let us guys like me to enjoy in the future.
[Reply]
Why are they ending the part? Just when I am getting started.
I am always late to the party. anyways, they stopping because they tryna cut down expenses. Good cause last time they missed earnings and it cost me a fortune. damn it.
[Reply]
I was hoping to make it to the Google Dance next year! Damn you GOOGLE!
[Reply]
I dono what z happening over google..Anyways…damn google!!

I have to say I absolutely love this blog design. This is one of the better ones I’ve seen come up in the past month or so. I’m seeing more and more that the headers are shrinking because people realize that they need to get people to their content right away. I mean you really only have four to 10 seconds before a person decides if they’re going to stay in your web site or not.
[Reply]
Darn, I would have loved to have attended just one party.
[Reply]
I thought you were talking about the periodic shuffling of serps not a party!
What is your read on WHY they are stopping the parties?
[Reply]
wow now I am really bummed I did not go.
[Reply]
I’ve always wondered how that investment was working out for them, and how long they would continue to pour out the cash for bashes like that.
Schmoozing your clients and rewarding your employees goes a long way, but it’s hard to gauge ROI on something like that - What do they report like $100 dollars in revenue earnings per case of beer..? heh
[Reply]
It sounded nice from what your blog post said..
[Reply]
Yeah, no kidding. Google has really rocked.
[Reply]
Jeremy, I attended a few celebrations at Google recently, as the Senior Project Manager for their HD-Broadcast and Live Stage and post-production facilities upgrades.
They will still have TGIF parties (on selected Fridays), and the live concerts continue monthly. Last one I saw in person was Tony Bennett, and yes he did sing ‘I Left my Heart in San Francisco’, it was pretty cool. Google may be changing their outreach to Affiliates and Clients due to revenue drops recently, or just preparing to try something different. (Google Day at Disney Word?) Thanks for the great posts this week, you rock! Respectfully, Nicholas

And you say you hate SEO. This post means: get me listed for the last google dance and link to authority site about key phrase. Nice going. But…you hate SEO…
[Reply]
I would kill for a visit to Google. It must be the biggest building ever. I would freak out =p.
[Reply]
I attended the Google Dance for the first time this year and was already looking forward to 2009 … I hope this is just linkbait
[Reply]

[Reply]

[Reply]
Finally - I’m sick of all the results jumping around
[Reply]
Thats why we are in awe of you Jeremy, you get to go to all the places that we wish we could go.
[Reply]
PS when I saw the heading, I thought the Google Dance was happening again. Great use of wording as your heading.
[Reply]
Did someone say “Disney world”?!
That would be a crazy Google party. Heh
[Reply]
at the rate google is going… u bet it’s gonna dance for a long many years now…
[Reply]
Oh well, maybe I shall go the dance next year. So are there any pictures shoe?
[Reply]
Life @ google is like living in Heaven! I feel jealous sometimes…I have some pictures of google’s offices!
[Reply]
hehehe google dancing
[Reply]
any pictures of google dance would be great.. do you want to share some?
[Reply]
guess i’ll never get to go to the chocolate factory dance aka google
[Reply]
They should pick some new locations for the Google Dance if they’ll continue with it. We’re missing out on all the fun in Europe.
[Reply]
Seriously Google think global in your parties as well. We want a piece of the action.
[Reply]
Conspiracy theory: Matt Cutts was taking pictures ( see: http://www.conferencenotebook.com/google-dance-08-meet-the-engineers ) because he actually knew it was the last! :>>
[Reply]
I thought this was about the another kind of google dance - the visit of google bot.
[Reply]
Yeah, I always enjoyed attending the Google advertiser appreciation events in Toronto, they were quite swanky. Not to mention that after a few drinks I got to hear of some upcoming technology, such as when I heard about Android a couple years before it was announced!
ps - I think it’s hilarious that you linked to google, as though it’s necessary
[Reply]
One can still hope though that next year something along the same lines will appear, I hope this is not the foreshadowing of the future with the new guy running the ses event a sort of things to come. I like it when the businesses you work with actually take care of you.
[Reply]
That last Google Dance threw me from almost all the keywords. Working hard to achieve back the old position.
[Reply]
Sorry I’m new to this. By Google dance you just mean when SERPs change? The talk of food and beer is making me think otherwise…
confused,
Cheers
[Reply]
Ah that sux!
[Reply]
Hey, but why do you think it is the last GG Dance?
[Reply]
I think your talking about the serps? i know I have a couple of good sites that google is kicking my butt on
[Reply]
Google likes these things , it’s like a 13-year-old dressed in a huge corporation clothes ..
[Reply]
The best thing I hear about Google is that they let their employees bring their dogs to work! *jealous*
[Reply]
Ya food and Beer are the best combination of the people
