Wow its amazing how close shoemedia is to where I live…I live just about a mile south. I didnt even know it was there until now. Very cool. Whatsup neighbor?!
September 3, 2008 at 10:14 pm
still pr2 but we’ll think about it
September 1, 2008 at 12:51 am
Nice interface!
August 24, 2008 at 1:09 am
it is nice if we can see our company in local directory and our clients also interactively can involved through comments there..
August 23, 2008 at 3:02 am
I did as u said – I checked out ur listing and made a jackass comment here
August 18, 2008 at 11:24 pm
Great directory, love how you can comment on the sites/ companies.
August 18, 2008 at 10:08 am
Like always, on the front of all the news. Thanks Shoe.
Question, how do you keep or how can one receive such news to be able to keep up or be in the “IN” on the net marketing pulse? How do you do it?
August 16, 2008 at 11:24 pm
I checked out this site, it looks useful, but what if you don’t have a designated office that you do business from? lol
August 16, 2008 at 5:06 pm
The comment left on your place is just too funny! But what makes this better than Google Maps?
August 13, 2008 at 11:02 am
I think web directories are unfortunately becoming obsolete simply because people have become to accustomed to using google, yahoo, and other search engines… Not that results from directories don’t come up in search engines but I think you get what i’m saying.
August 13, 2008 at 8:33 am
Damn I might have to get that – looks like great value!
If any of you are trying out the premium service now, please write a post about your experiences in a few weeks – will be interesting!
August 13, 2008 at 2:17 am
I don’t use web directories often, and I wont use this either :p
August 13, 2008 at 1:03 am
lol. i agree. lazy webzers.
August 12, 2008 at 10:04 pm
You should send an HTC shirt to Jeremy and maybe he will feature it one Friday.
August 12, 2008 at 8:16 pm
Sounds interesting, great to read about this!
August 12, 2008 at 7:00 pm
It is very simple. People will try it and if it doesnt drive traffic or calls to these local websites then it becomes another “web” directory that provides little value.
August 12, 2008 at 5:27 pm
True enough, but I think this is the wrong approach. Apart from Google Local, I believe that the only way to have real success with a local directory is to be focused on one locality, instead of spreading your efforts thin.
August 12, 2008 at 4:28 pm
I just added our business, but it sucks that most of the useful features cost $$.. Monthly charges FTL!
August 12, 2008 at 4:09 pm
The offering is currently limited to businesses in the US.
August 12, 2008 at 3:41 pm
$10/mo is a lot cheaper than the regular listing as well.
August 12, 2008 at 1:42 pm
I think that the only value that a directly can offer now a days is its ability to help with SEO, either directly or indirectly.
August 12, 2008 at 12:52 pm
@Jeff – Yes it is.
I this this is only an okay service. You have to pay if you really want an impact from it. Since I do not want to pay the $10 a month it is not worth it to me.
August 12, 2008 at 12:51 pm
nice design, but only for US
August 12, 2008 at 11:47 am
Is this for companies in any state?
August 12, 2008 at 11:31 am
anyways… the site is well designed…
August 12, 2008 at 11:30 am
is this going to be useful for people out of the US
August 12, 2008 at 11:25 am
It’s different, that’s for sure! I like it!
I think it’s primarily an offline business directory but you can easily list websites there.
August 12, 2008 at 11:22 am
Jeremy,
Where did you say your business was located – do you just say your house/office for a website?
August 12, 2008 at 8:14 am
While giving an overall positive review, I also warned the world about Shoemoney Media Group’s occasional failings and gave a good tip on how to control them.
August 12, 2008 at 8:06 am
The features at the bottom looks great.
google map seems cool too
August 12, 2008 at 7:11 am
Nice site, good clean layout, google maps are great too. I couldn’t resist adding a review
Does it allow any sort of moderation of the reviews? Very user friendly site.
August 12, 2008 at 5:36 am
Erm good and fresh idea.Good approach and hopefully it can give benefit to all blogger and internet marketer.

August 12, 2008 at 4:06 am

August 12, 2008 at 3:47 am
nice site indeed, but how useful is this?
August 12, 2008 at 3:36 am
$9.95 a month for premiun with link juice
The affiliate program could have some potential.
August 12, 2008 at 12:47 am
I’m not sold simply because Google steals local search traffic with fancy listings AHEAD of real rankings. Also, does anyone remember Marchex flooding the local market with 100,000 websites 6 months ago? That didn’t work out so well, their sites don’t show up in search results very often which kills the “local search” purpose.
Time will tell, local search is a tough sell, I hope I’m wrong for their sake – great company.
August 11, 2008 at 10:56 pm
Thats cool
but they are very strict to submissions.
August 11, 2008 at 9:58 pm
have made some look at the site and the www and found they have great rep….
August 11, 2008 at 9:49 pm
I built a site for Sioux Falls, SD that is similar to this… I want to do more with it and promote it so that businesses will pay a small listing fee to list their business each year. If you want to check it out click the name in my comment. I would have to agree with Geiger that there is money involved in local websites!!
August 11, 2008 at 9:33 pm
ShoeMoney, thats great info. I design websites for businesses, so maybe this is something I can also do for future clients.
My team and I just started our website, and I just wanted to invite everyone who read this to check out the site, and enter our weekly raffle for a FREE exclusive HTC Shirt.
August 11, 2008 at 9:10 pm
I really think there is a ton of untapped money for local websites!
August 11, 2008 at 8:43 pm
They are just good people. At SES 5 years ago (my first conference ever) i talked to them and they were super cool.
August 11, 2008 at 8:34 pm
I noticed you mention botw quite a bit. Are you affiliated with it in any way?
August 11, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Ask for jackass comments and get jackass comments. Wonder what would have happened if you had asked for intelligent comments?
August 11, 2008 at 7:39 pm
noooooo dont be lazy just say no to BANS. Just use the API
August 11, 2008 at 7:05 pm
Interesting, thanks for the heads up!

August 11, 2008 at 6:58 pm
We’re working on the commenting issue. It’s a temporary glitch.
August 11, 2008 at 6:42 pm
Shoe,
Tried to leave you a “good” comment, not working.
August 11, 2008 at 6:31 pm

Nice site is that a Bans site?

August 11, 2008 at 6:22 pm

August 11, 2008 at 5:32 pm
soooo.. how many tech support calls have you gotten since posting this?
August 11, 2008 at 5:20 pm
looks great… the map makes it more interesting..
August 11, 2008 at 5:01 pm
man! another directory? at least this one is a part of the best one….
August 11, 2008 at 4:49 pm
Thanks for the tip. Will look into it.
August 11, 2008 at 4:48 pm
Is this like Merchant Circle? I thought I liked that directory until I was logged out and I did a search for our company. It came up with an additional listing at the same address without all the customized info I put in, and then it suggested that I also check out 5 of my local competitors!
August 11, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Looks great. I will definitely try this Local product in the future.
August 11, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Check out the Premium product – http://local.botw.org/premium/
August 11, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Very nice work from those guys, they also offer 50% off now for advertisers.
August 11, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Do I spot times new roman on that page (review)?
August 11, 2008 at 4:13 pm

August 11, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Great Idea, Classy Directory and a Wonderful Opportunity!
August 11, 2008 at 4:05 pm
That’s great. And who cares if it doesn’t have a place for links. It’s still free promo.
August 11, 2008 at 3:59 pm
no place for a link placement, no link juice…F it
August 11, 2008 at 3:49 pm
Great idea – if you can’t rank with your own SEO, you had better list yourself with someone who can.
August 11, 2008 at 3:34 pm
I was just doing research on local directories (YPs). Perfect timing. I’m noticing big offline players losing position in serps to online only properties. Wishing BOTW all te best!
August 11, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Hi,
Is this a website directory? It seems to be a different one, because visitors can comment on each others websites like in social media sites.
