Fedor Emelianenko vs Tim Sylvia Video Clip

by Jeremy Schoemaker on July 21, 2008 · 49 comments

I wonder if UFC President Dana White crapped his pants when Fedor completely destroyed Tim Sylvia in a short flurry of punches? Tim had dominated the UFC’s heavyweight division for years and was a last ditch Big Nog submission away from being the title holder again…

In case you missed the Affliction PPV:

Fighters.com was press credentialed for the Affliction card and has a lot of great footage.. especially the post fight press conferences:

that’s amazing. There is no question that Fedor is the real deal. Ugly and cocky as he is, Sylvia is no slouch.

Sylvia seemed a bit soft in the middle if you ask me. ;)

Affliction put on a solid card. With Donald Trump backing the Affliction promotion, UFC won’t be able to bully them very easily.

Wow. Reminds me of Mike Tyson back in the day… No messing around, straight for the KO

They should have a Fedor – Cro Cop rematch. I don’t think Couture has a chance against Fedor. Maybe in his prime but not now.

Yep, that’s true, I noticed that too :P

How does it work with the different federations; can u not fight in more than one? Would like to see Fedor vs. Silva even though there’s a diff. in weight.

I think Anderson Silva might be Fedor’s only challenging opponent in UFC

I’ve watched that video so many times and am still amazed at how dominant Fedor was in that fight. Insane!

I cant see him losing. :(

I don’t think Randy is coming back. He wanted the belt one more time, but I think he’s retired for good this time, focusing on his new acting career. Isn’t Noguera the interim champ now?

20 Dave C. July 21, 2008 at 1:20 pm

Wow, that was faster than the Silva/Irvin fight, but I still think Anderson Silva is the best pound for pound.

Fedor is so fast. I wanted to get a drink while watching PPV good job I didn’t :D
Affliction was better than UFC by far.

Wow, that was fast, exciting match, would love ot have been there in the crowd. The atmosphere at the ring must have been something else! I havn’t been into boxing much in years but stuff like this is what its all about.

Should Cotoure get released out of his contract in October, he should fight Fedor late in the year arguably creating the biggest MMA PPV ever. However, Fedor will destroy Cotoure and leaving Affliction with very little else. The big worry for Dana White and UFC is seeing their fighters jump ship to Affliction, so they need to distribute their revenue better and allow their fighters to brand themselves which just so happens to be the biggest reason why Cotoure wants out and Tito Ortiz leaving.

I like that Fedor doesn’t just jab for effect, he launches them in and if you don’t defend properly they keep coming hard and fast, ask Silva.

I’ve always been amazed that Silvia did as well as he did for so long. He’s a big flabby guy. He’s weak (physically) compared to most of the heavyweights and he just has bad posture.

I wasn’t surprised at all here. The guy needs to go. Once Lessner learns to stay away from those submissions he’s going to dominate like no other ;)

I think that Randy has got something here.

Sylvia made one critical mistake that pretty much guaranteed he’d lose.

He showed up. :P

You obviously do not pay much attention to MMA. He is not retired at all, just resigned from the UFC so he could peruse a fight with Fedor. He is waiting for his UFC contract to be up and then he will fight Fedor (if the courts allow).

The UFC does not allow their fighters to fight in other promotions. Most other promotions do allow cross-promotion fights.

Fedor is not a fighter in the UFC and they are (primarily) in weight classes 2 classes apart. Fedor is a heavy weight (starts at 206) and he weighs in around 225 most times, and Silva is a middleweight (most times) and weighs in at 185. It is a fight that is not likely.

Wow, I didn’t realize Fedor was such a stud! I knew he had a great record but after watching a whole bunch of videos of his fights, I’m not sure there’s anyone out there that can compete with him. He brings it harder than anyone I’ve seen.

Hah that was pretty good, every UFC fight i’ve watched ended pretty quickly.

Poor Fedor… his fists really took a beating.

You could say that Sylvia got in one shot… if you count when they touched gloves. :P

He did seem in rather poor physical shape however. Fedor was lean and hungry, and took no prisoners whatsoever! Thanks for sharing this clip, Jeremy!

Sylvia exposed again!
I have to admit that I did have some money on Sylvia (as a 400 dog how could you not) but not much. Everyone expected Fedor to win, but who saw it coming that quickly?

Wow Fedor! I feel bad for those in the stands. They probably wanted a longer fight.

Fedor is not gonna lose for a long time
I cant agree more with the people that said sylvia looked soft in the middle… he looked very soft and slow.
