I should have a look, but with my daily job I’m not having enough time for blogging. I should ask my boss to give me some days off so I can use Stumbleupon………

Sounds interesting. But stumbleupon traffic has never seemed that great to me. They stay for 3 seconds, and never convert or click ads. So what’s the point?

SU is only good if you have a big niche. It does not work well for smaller ones like mine. My demographic is also a hindrance, retired women. They tend to not follow trends like SU and are only interested in using content, not spreading the word socially.

Stumbleupon traffic is very untargetted… and traffic lasts for less than 1 second/visit.

Yes and that’s why we need a stumbleupon specialist to tell us how to targer our traffic using stumleupon.

it depends…for example I had articles that got over 300,000 visits over time, on a constant basis. Also if you get popular on SU, most probably some links will follow. After my article got popular on SU, getting 10,000 visits daily, I was featured on fark.com, and within a couple of hours I got over 30,000 visitors. Your server shall be prepared for this kind of traffic. You see, SU isn’t only a way to get visitors, it’s also a link building method in some kind. Don’t abuse it, contribute to the community and the community will pay you back ten times more.

    [Reply]

  23. Movies said on July 20th, 2008 at 12:39 pm

that’s the mentality I had when I joined SU. I was looking for ways to exchange stumbles (game SU), but that didn’t last too long. If your content is good enough the stumbles will follow. Concentrate on the content, how to make it more attractive, more valuable, and this kind of things instead of how to get stumbles. Don’t abuse SU, try to contribute to the community and the community will pay you back ten times more. There are some very good articles on doshdosh.com about SU. They helped me big time.

    [Reply]

  24. Movies said on July 20th, 2008 at 12:48 pm

that’s why you don’t get more traffic. You shouldn’t stumble all your stuff, only your best stuff. Your SU account has ’stumble power’. Your ’stumble power’ is exactly like the page rank. If you have lots of outbound links on the page you don’t give much link juice to those links. The same happens with SU. Every time you stumble the same site, your ’stumble power’ on that site decreases. So, next time when you decide to stumble your own stuff, think a little about it, will I stumble this page if I came across it ? how can I make it more attractive ? Is it valuable enough to stumble it ? Does ’stumblers’ like this kind of stuff ?

You may get a small number of converters…but those could be some of your most loyal customers / readers / friends. People can’t find you unless they put you out there! and social media is where information / interesting stuff / and more is found in today’s day in age!

StumbleUpon is better- easier to use, easier to add things with the integrated stumble bar…and more fun, in my opinion!
