TAC Episode 2 - The Drama Episode

By Jeremy Schoemaker 40 comments

Episode 2 we have the first scoreboard report and then we broke into individual challenges. Being this wa a individual challenge and not a team challenge I went back to my office to work on my own company but was available during the day to my team via phone if needed.

When I left the producers told me that the day was going to “drama day” and they were going to try get the losing team (John Chow’s Team) really upset with me. I told them to go for it.

Then I start getting calls from people saying that I threatened a advertiser or something…

What happen was when I woke up that morning I checked our stats none of our leads were in. I called the affiliate manager we were working with and told them it was crucial they process the leads by 10am because if not it does not count.

Again throughout the show nothing is ever shown how people are actually doing anything….. I am told that is going to change. I hope it does.

Honestly I think it hurts the show more to show that contestants are ignorant enough to think that calling your affiliate manager and asking for correct tracking is somehow “cheating”. I hate to see what they say when we do more stuff later in the contest.

So far, with these first two episodes, I think I’m done watching. The episodes show nothing but pointless stuff instead of things that might really be interesting, such as the step by step of how things get done.

I also don’t like the fact that you guys as team leaders are allowed to leverage your own blogs to help the team. I was hoping to see more of a “start with nothing” type situation where everyone comes up with ideas and sees how far they can get completely bare bones…

With you and John Chow both promoting offers and things through your blogs, it takes the entire interest out of the show for me…

Which offers are you referring to? I only had 1 offer on here and removed the post hours after I put it up (it had zero conversions anyway).

But to be honest I think your expectations where me and john pretend we have nothing is a bit silly and kind of defeats the purpose of having “gurus” if they can not contribute to their group.

I have not watched the video. but reading from your post:

“throughout the show nothing is ever shown how people are actually doing anything”

I’m not going to waste my time watching the video :D

Its been interesting to watch. I like the commentary and John’s videos better then the official show. The drama in episode two was pretty stupid. It was explained to the viewers what you did, called after you knew leads weren’t processed. Then John’s team comes in whining about you guys cheating. Seemed like they had no idea what actually happened. I hope it does move to show more of what you guys are doing.

I was actually thinking that there would be a set budget and you had to use that to earn money. I think its kind of lame that everyone can use what they brought to the show (ie. mailing lists, websites, friends traffic, $$, etc.) I was expecting more of a “ok, your challenge for today is to earn the most using PPC starting with $99.” Not just a free for all to just make the most money. I was expecting the gurus to leverage their assets to help out the team on occasion.

You’d be there to contribute your knowledge, direction and you give the show credibility.

I think it would be more entertaining ’starting with nothing’ and showing steps to get to the point of making money. This in turn would force the show to actually give tips and information like everyone is complaining about anyways. Plus, it shouldn’t be about which guru has the most pull, but what team can generate sales/profit.

I see what you are saying now and agree. Having everyone on a team is pretty weird in a niche where everyone normally is on their own.

I just watched episode 3 and you can tell they made an effort to show less “drama” and more of the marketing. It Still has a long way to go but at least it is moving in the right direction now. I would recommends giving it a second chance as episode 3 was a huge improvement on the first two.

This is this most amateur show I have ever seen. The content is crap, and the video and editing is terrible!

Jeez, Jonathan needs to leave Nebraska immediately? Wow that’s a bit harsh, being excilled from the city! Doesn’t he live in Nebraska? Not sure what Big J was doing in the room, I guess he expected a different guy to leave. Shouldn’t the producers/viewers decide who leaves?

initially, I thought the contestants from losing team were going to be presented to viewers at night for voting of who should go and who should stay. oh well…. if I had known they were already done voting, I would have given the ring to jonathon r. he did get a little emo during the individual challenge when one of my bunnies made a bid for me. not smart to mess with my bunnies. but he still isn’t as emo as another contestant, so I would have kept him around. good guy

My favorite line was “Please pack your bags on LEAVE NEBRASKA IMMEDIATELY”. HAHAHA
You lose now get out of Nebraska.

I think this has been pretty good so far but it does seem like a cross between the WWF and affiliate marketing.

pull and sales/profit go together nicely when it comes to affiliate marketing. thor wanted all “real” resources available to us. if shoe can call someone and say “look punk. we know there are leads. get it done or your toast”, more power to him. if other gurus don’t have jeremy’s powers or the balls to lay the smack down, too bad for them and their team.

emos come forth! i command you

Jeremy , no disrespect, but the show doesn’t actually show any real affiliate marketing. They said in the first episode something about unveiling some sort of secrets. All i see on the show is a bunch of drama and people calling friends to sign-up to offers or buy things. You should talk to the producer and convince him to have people talk about affiliate marketing on the show, rather then having a whole bunch of people complaining and crying about others cheating.

    I’ve watched the 3 episodes.

    99.9% Fluff. It’s just terrible.

The producers need to dedicate at least 50% of the show to showing real affiliate marketing, as oppose to the junk they are current airing.

I have a feeling Thor is going to sell an “exclusive” video series after this “show” is over.

“All for the low price of $1999.95 you get ‘never before seen footage’ from the top affiliate challenge. Buy the DVD series now. It’s the only way this show can make some money”

…or worse, an ebook 1000 pages long.

So the production team knew that you had just ’speeded up’ the processing of the leads, but they choose to sit the other teams contestants down one by one (in front of 15 proflower logos?) & tell them that you threatened an affiliate manager, & then film their reactions!

I think that is a pretty pathetic attempt at causing ‘drama’.

I was surprised I finished watching the entire episode but seriously, it is more interesting to have contestants going about their affiliate marketing and less of hot air cum drama.

We are already bombarded with enough reality TV shows as it is.

I will agree with Shoemoney that the show lacks “actual knowledge” of affiliate marketing. The first episode was, and should be, designed to introduce everyone (I like you, funny hat guy, you an alien under all that fur?) but the second didn’t offer much.

I really do hope that the next ones will be a bit more informative. I understand the need to keep some trade secrets, it’s a business after all, but from nothing to everything, there is a giant chasm ;)

I agree that using existing contacts and networks is a bit out of line. No one is learning anything. The resources made available by the gurus and the more advanced contestants is not helping the average Joe learn anything. I want to know how to buy targeted traffic for $0.02 per visitor like Vanclute claims to be able to get. Throw me a bone here.
